Woot! i just got my samsung SEC3350 replaced with a nice, shiny, new LG phillips LPLF300, the difference is very, cery noticeable, you wont really know what resolution your screen is at (mines 1650x1080) until you get the real deal.

The bst part of it, i got it on my first attempt, called dell, told the tech guy aboutmy issue and that a friend at dell told me that they were having an issue with the sammys, that i would only accept an LG one, so they slightly laughed at my problem, like if they didn believe it, but at the end sent my part and the tech guy did a really good work. Everything is wonderful now, i thought the guys saying the LG was better were lying and even said to mysef that my SEC3350 was free of defects...i was wrong.

GL to you all getting your displays, its really worth it.

Where did you order your 1530? I have trouble with my sec3155 samsung display. But so many calls to Dell and even a Fax to Dell Escalation did only result in one statement:

Dell can`t specify the brand and at last: LG is not in stock for the WUXGA any more. (Germany)

Has anyone here got help from abroad?

P.S: Got another replacement today: SEC 3155, manf. date 2005!!! light leakage and grainy corners!

    what the hell,
    is the matter with dell?

Mine has the CM0 1555, which is the LED Chi Mei as well.

I have two dead pixels, and some white bleeding from the left and right edges.

Has anyone been successful at getting a CMO led screen replaced?

Hey guys...I have an m1530 I bought about a year ago. According to my Device Manager it's a SEC3350.

I'm not sure if it looks "Grainy", since I really have noting to compare it to, but should I get it replaced? I'm still under warranty and have accident insurance.

I also have a TINY (1-2mm long) chip in the screen, which is very noticeable on white/bright colors. Would that be enough to get the screen replaced under the accident insurance?

Also, is is still necessary to say that I want an LG screen if one is available?

The battle continues. I explained my case here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4311106&postcount=2047

A week ago a Dell technician came and replaced the crappy 1440x900 AUO2077 I had. I attach a comparison photo of my old AUO2077 (on the left) with my friends LG (don't know which exactly, it's a 1280x800 Dell Studio 15). This is one of the photos I sent to Dell Spain when they asked me for them and it went well. To Dell Poland I sent other photos comparing my screen with an old standalone LG, but they said they couldn't see anything wrong and that I could send my laptop to them so that they could see it better (? Next Business Day?). This time, being in Spain, I played a bit with levels and curves in GIMP, but on the whole image so I don't consider it a cheat ;)

So now I have an LG screen, but... it's still grainy :( It's A LOT better than AUO or Samsung I had, but still, my friend who has that Dell Studio 15 has a better screen. My LG is LPLDF00. I attach another photo of the new screen, the backlight is better but I've seen better (all the photos were made with a white background and the minimal screen luminosity and the same camera settings). The grainyness I'm afraid is not visible... or is it? I'm a bit tired with all this screen crap...

Question: I have less than one month of warranty left. I thought I'll call them again, but I'm afraid of getting an ultra-ty screen once again. Can I tell the technician that I want the old screen back after he puts the new one if the new one is worse?

hugenut, crazydog115, call Dell and tell them that your screens are of a bad quality and list all the problems you have with them. You can even exaggerate a bit. I told them that my screen was so bad that it tired my eyes very quickly (which I think was true).

WOW. I think there was just something wrong with your AUO2077 cause I have the 1440x900 AUO2077 but mine doesn't look anywhere close to as bad as that...it looks beautiful and has no grain or anything...even that LG looks a bit dark. That AUO2077 one looks like as bad as the Samsung ones.

Pics of mine below. That isn't grain on the right btw...just always looks like that when taking close up pics of screens.

I heard varying opinions about that AUO2077, some say it's very good, some say it's as bad as the majority of Samsungs. I think it's a matter of luck, which I apparently don't have regarding the screens in my laptop ;) I've seen very few posts complaining about grain in LGs, but well, here it is...

Anyway, I would really like to know if it's possible to tell the technician that I don't like the new screen and that I want to keep the old one. I mean, without telling him "put the old one or I won't let you out of the house" ;)
I don't want to be left with some total crap like the two screens I had before.

I'm really tired... Ok, I'll answer my question myself: yes, you can tell the technician to leave the old screen. At the beginning I asked him for the manufacturer of the new screen and it was the dreaded Samsung. So I asked if he can connect it without putting the whole thing into the laptop, to see if it's any better. It wasn't.

So I'm left with a grainy LG and I'm kind of out of ideas and a bit tired with the whole case (and I hope they pay the technician extra every time he comes to someone's flat). I just begin to feel obsessed. I went to a shop with a lot of laptops and it seems that the cheaper the laptop is, the more probable it is to get a good screen (the only exception from this rule are MacBooks). All the Acers had AUO screens with no grain at all, while some of the most expensive Sony Vaios had grainy screens (and some not, seems random).

I think the next time I call Dell, they will say: "oh no, not you and your screen again".
