although I dont really like the color combination I have to agree its a nice paintjob! I'd love to see you or someone do a super glossy paint or brush aluminum finish or even carbon fiber touch, that'll be sweet. but great job! :notworthy:

To be honest up till now I thought a person would be crazy to paint a new laptop, however after seeing the excellent job you did on yours I no longer have that opinion.

    Crazy... No.... Talented... Yes

    *jaw drops*

Generally I am not fond of red as a color scheme for almost anything - I'm much more of a black/blue/grey type person.

That said, this is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. I would LOVE to see how it would look with a metallic blue paint cover - I may have to look into having that done to my yet-to-arrive black XPS sometime.

No... because the lid wasn't taken apart and it doesn't affect the working parts of the notebook. I checked before doing it.

I don't think I've seen that color on ANY notebook.
That was the color of the 1970 Cuda.
Post it when you paint it.

Wow. Looks so amazing. I'm going for the black at the moment for my M1530, but I would love to have it painted red. Why, oh why, did Dell remove crimson red and replace it with just (Product) Red? But if you get it done like that, with a matching mouse, it looks even more personal and cool! But the black edging actually makes it look better that Dell's offering. I would try, but I haven't got the guts. no way.

btw, what kinda mouse is it? is it the bluetooth one that dell offer with the M1530, or is it a different one? Just wondering.

I don't care much for the flat red or black on the xps... kinda bland. I have crimson red on my phone and love it.

Now, I like that kind of RED!

Go for the 1971 Dodge Challenger look - lime green with the black stripes, pistol grip shifter, and the 440 Six Pack...

    *looks around*

Hey! Where did everyone go? Ok, so I got a little carried away. :p

I have that pistol grip shifter in my Vette. I'm quite fond of the 70 Challenger as I had one.

Wow! You've inspired me to try and paint my XPS when it comes in. Gonna practice first on this crap CRT Monitor though! Thanks a lot for posting the procedure you used. However, do you really need to bake the paint after each coat?

That's...quite possibly the coolest looking XPS. If I had, which I don't, the skills and patience required to do a job that looks that good...I'd so be painting my XPS.

Oh yea, and if I actually had my XPS (it's in production :()
