now thats awsome..but if you have the extended warrenty and you skrew up your laptop what happens when you have to send it in?
-
That's awesome, I'd love to paint mine a Krytonite green color.
-
although I dont really like the color combination I have to agree its a nice paintjob! I'd love to see you or someone do a super glossy paint or brush aluminum finish or even carbon fiber touch, that'll be sweet. but great job!
-
Couple more photo's I took today. Next week I will paint my sidekick to match.
-
gorgeous! nice work
-
To be honest up till now I thought a person would be crazy to paint a new laptop, however after seeing the excellent job you did on yours I no longer have that opinion.
Crazy... No.... Talented... Yes -
I now have a matching mouse

that is seriously great!!!

*jaw drops*
Generally I am not fond of red as a color scheme for almost anything - I'm much more of a black/blue/grey type person.
That said, this is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. I would LOVE to see how it would look with a metallic blue paint cover - I may have to look into having that done to my yet-to-arrive black XPS sometime. -
Two beautifully pimped up Dells, fabulous work Jack. Please feel free to customise mine, when you are next in the UK !

great paint job but something just occured to me , would this void your warnatee?

That black Dell logo is so hot right now...
-
You're welcome, Jack. Thank you very much for sharing!
-
wow it really looks awsome! it shows you took your time doing that.
also, thanks alot for the review of the laptop its very nicely made -
Has anyone here painted YOUR Dell?
If so, how about posting them here. -
I might paint mine when it comes in. I've got some electric lime green left over from a motorcycle repaint.
-
That was the color of the 1970 Cuda.
Post it when you paint it. -
Wow. Looks so amazing. I'm going for the black at the moment for my M1530, but I would love to have it painted red. Why, oh why, did Dell remove crimson red and replace it with just (Product) Red? But if you get it done like that, with a matching mouse, it looks even more personal and cool! But the black edging actually makes it look better that Dell's offering. I would try, but I haven't got the guts. no way.
btw, what kinda mouse is it? is it the bluetooth one that dell offer with the M1530, or is it a different one? Just wondering. -
It looks beautifully professional. -
The mouse I have is the Dynex wireless optical DX-PWLMSE
You can get it at Best Buy for $20. Works great for me! -
oh god, now you've got me wanting to custom paint electrical stuff... hey, i've got an old mobile i could try it out on... cool.
I'll see where is goes. Ought to be fun. Still uncertain about a laptop though. -
Now, I like that kind of RED!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

This would look hot with custom air brushed ghost graphics beneath the clear coat. good thing i have friends in art school if i ever choose to do something like this
-
Wow, Jack this thread is still going strong!!! Awesome
And, your 1530 still looks lovely -
I see you love your XPS!
BTW, you have 300 + posts and 10 green squares? What are those green squares for anyway... I've never checked. -
I believe it has to do with your reputation. I added to your rep but it didnt do anything. Two people added to my rep and each gave me a square.
-
Wow! You've inspired me to try and paint my XPS when it comes in. Gonna practice first on this crap CRT Monitor though! Thanks a lot for posting the procedure you used. However, do you really need to bake the paint after each coat?
-
-
i haven't read all the topic...
How much was the whole paint thing and how long did it fully take?( waits and all) -
That's...quite possibly the coolest looking XPS. If I had, which I don't, the skills and patience required to do a job that looks that good...I'd so be painting my XPS.
Oh yea, and if I actually had my XPS (it's in production)
-
-
Alright cool, I figured the heat lamps weren't needed but I just wanted to make sure. Don't want to mess anything up!
-
What I gathered was...6 weeks to fully complete the process? -
that looks absolutely beautiful
-
I believe they are rep points??
Still love to look at your sweet paint job = Awesome!!! Woot -
Well, by now everybody here knows I like RED & BLACK!
Need proof... even my wife below the computer photo is dressed in RED & BLACK!
-
hi there Jack,
nice job u'v done there, ur room is also very cool man...
i wanted to ask that how d'u request the Dell guys to make the Keyboard n interior Silver NOT White, with the Tuxedo Black Lid. The Midnight Blue has that by default i think, with blue tint i think.
thnx
Emad -

Its beautiful, Aztec colors. Nice Job! Way to rep SDSU
-
Awesome Job.
Hey Jack, would any Duplicolor Auto Paint work?
I wanna paint mine a nice metallic Aqua or maybe a flip-flop! -
jack53... you really just redefined style. If Dell ever wanted to have some new color customization options... they should learn a thing or two from you. It looks great!
-
That is what I used, Dupli-color auto areosol spray Metallic ruby red on the XPS. I also used Dupli-color auto areosol spray Metallic Aqua here:
