I heard Krylon Fusion Paint works well but wasn't sure if it would be well suited. Have you ever had any experience with this brand? The main reason i'm asking is that I haven't seen any of the Dupli-colour paint on any UK websites or in stores. Apparently it dries within 15 minutes although i'm not sure if that is at room temperature or within a range of temps.
Also, I have a dell xps 1530 and noticed it has a sort of rubbery back lid. Seeing that you have one yourself, was there was special prep needed?
Any sort of information to stop me messing up would be greatly appreciated
Will be starting on some old phones, a mouse or two etc to get a feel for the painting process but I would like to eventually start on my laptop after I can be more confident with my painting skills. -

Well I read through the posts made but didn't see specifics.
Was wondering if you had used Krylon Fusion before. Seen as you have experience in the painting area, I thought you may hav ecome across that brand atleast once.
By prepping the lid, I didn't mean priming it but due to the lid feeling a sort of rubberised material, I was wondering if you did anything before the primer as I have seen anything mentioned about that.
Most paints i've seen are for specific materials such as Plastics, Metals, Wood etc and wasn't sure if with the lid being as it is would need any special prepping 'before' the paint job.
If you happened to mention any of that before, sorry for asking again but tried to find any mention of answers relating to my questions multiple times. I guess reading through text destroys my concentration -

I've used Krylon Fusion before several times. In fact I used one just yesterday to paint a desktop, see pix. It was Krylon Fusion for Plastic. Works on wood, rubber, metal etc. You don't need primer with this one. I didn't like the chrome, so I painted it burgundy. I've done notebooks with this too.

I first wet-sanded, then I used the Dupli auto prep to clean the surface, then Dupli-color auto areosol spray grey primer, then Dupli-color auto areosol spray Metallic ruby red base, sanded in-between w/2000 grit and then 4 coats of Dupli-color auto areosol spray Clear Top Clear.
I hope that helps. -
Very impressed. Looks clean, nice and simple, professional and not some crazy distraction design, wanna paint my m1730? lol

Well I must say Jack that your mod is beautiful. I too took a look thinking it would be a disaster. Very nice. I don't have the guts or skill to do it but if I did...

That's exactly what I wanted to know
Thanks alot. Nice desktop case aswell :O

Just found a brand called 'Plasti-kote' who supposedly makes paints suitable for laptops and desktops.
They are based in the UK and can be bought from major stores such as Halfords, B&Q, Focus DIY, Hobbycraft, Wilkinsons and Homebase. Not seen them available online other than ebay so might be worth paying those stores a visit. -
what is that battery that you have
-
If you mean jacks laptop, he probably has the 85w/h battery from the looks of it. Longer battery life than the standard 56w/h.

Anyway, DanielRavenJames is correct, it is the:
85 whr 9-cell & 6-cell Battery
I painted my XPS M1530 lid...
