    Broadcom/WidComm BlueTooth v6.3.0.4700 (tested):
    http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...tooth_6.3.0.4700(www.station-drivers.com).exe

    Broadcom's NetLink 5784 v14.2.0.7a:
    http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netlink_k57.php

Synaptics TouchPad Pointing Device Driver v15.0.24:
    http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...touchpad_15.0.24(www.station-drivers.com).exe

To get middle-click function when clicking both buttons go to the run command and enter "regedit" without quotes. Then browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults\ <-- create DWORD32 key 'HasBothButtonFeature' and set the value to 1.

EDIT: Does anyone know how to add a feature which disables touchpad when usb mouse is connected? Older Dell drivers have this feature but they suck in everything else...

Could we make a new thread or get the original poster to update his first post with driver updates?

i got nothing better do to, i'll work on an update now. people can feel free to post the drivers from third-parties/driver-station/etc I'm not gunna include them in the first post, only official drivers being distributed by Dell or the hardware manufacture will make the cut.

    Todays update included:

    1645 BIOS A11
AMD Mobility Radeon HD 3670/4670/5730 CATALYST 10.8
    Broadcom NetLink 5784M version 14.2.0.7a
    Intel Proset/Wireless WiFi Link 5300/6200/6300 version 13.2.1.0
Logitech SetPoint for external keyboards and mice version 6.15.25

If someone wants to maintain another post with the beta and leaked/third-party non-modded drivers (like a list to relevant updates from station-drivers.com and other sources), then I will link the post in the first post. You can go back and edit the same post to update the list to keep it all together.

If someone else wants to maintain the list then I'm cool with someone starting a new thread, not planning to be very active on this thread anymore.

The drivers on the Synaptics site are v14.0.3, and you should use either those, or the ones from Dell. Using other drivers which are customized for other laptops may lead to problems for some people.

I have a little problem with missing driver. In device manager, I have this Unknown Device located on Intel® PM55 Express Chipset LPC Interface Controller - 3B03 even after I had installed the latest chipset (version 9.1.1.1025) from Intel. Why is that so?

    Ok Sure.

    1. Rename the chipset driver file as just Chipset.exe and save it in C: Drive.
    2. Open CMD or Command Prompt
    3. In Command Prompt go to C:\ root folder by just typing Cd\.
    4. Type Chipset.exe /overall and it will start the chipset installation.
    5. Install the driver and restart the computer.

    Hope it helps :)

Thanks for helping me out here but I've tried the above method but it seems that the driver is still missing and it is probably the PCI Express Root Port 3 as it is not in my device manager. If I decided to skip this driver, will it actually cause any problem to my laptop?

I am not sure but it really shouldnt cause problem until a program needs it. I would also recommend you to reinstall the Ati Catalyst 10.8 driver or just wait for 10.9 which will be web posted soon.

Few days ago the mcafee that came with the XPS updated. Since then I am having this weird problem. My laptop is so slow when it boots, and usually most of the time. The dock takes ages to show, browsing folder lags too much, starting a game takes ages... The second I turn off real time scanning in mcafee everything goes back to normal. Any ideas what's causing this? any fixes?

I don't use the mcafee, but is there a chance it is going through a full scan since it is the "first time" it is installed? Have you leaving the laptop on for a couple of hours (idle) to see if it fixes itself? Is the old version removed?

They didn't really change anything that affects the mobile cards, just made a lot of cross-fire improvements, that's probably why they didn't bother releasing it for mobility users. FWIW, here's the changelog:

    Performance Improvements
The following performance gains are noticed with this release of Catalyst™ 10.9:

    STALKER: Call of Pripyat Benchmark
Performance increases up to 20% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 Series single and CrossFire™ configurations with Enhanced full dynamic lighting (DX11) and anti-aliasing enabled
Performance increases up to 12% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5700 Series single and CrossFire™ configurations with Enhanced full dynamic lighting (DX11) and anti-aliasing enabled

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Performance increases up to 4% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5700 Series single and CrossFire™ configurations
Performance increases up to 4% on ATI Radeon™ HD 4800 Series single and CrossFire™ configurations
Performance increases up to 5% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 Series single and CrossFire™ configurations
Performance increases up to 6% on ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 Series single and CrossFire™ configurations

Resolved Issues for the Windows 7 Operating System
This section provides information on resolved issues in this release of the ATI Catalyst™ Software Suite for Windows 7. These include:
UVD clocks will now return to normal speeds after switching from HD to SD content Flickering no longer visible while running 3D games on HDMI displays with Quad CrossFire™ enabled
Mesh corruption is no longer visible in "The Chronicles of Riddick 2: Assault on Dark Athena" when SSAO in-game setting is set to high
CrossFire™ now functions properly and in-game Anti-Aliasing can now be enabled in "StarCraft II"
Adobe Flash Player will no longer display green screen after resume from sleep
Negative CrossFire™ scaling on "Final Fantasy-XIV" no longer occurs
Intermittent performance drops no longer observed with hardware cursor enabled in "World of Warcraft" game in extended mode

is Modded INF for Catalyst 10.9 Mobility best option for video card? i dont do much intensive gaming, just MMOs..but i do watch a lot of HD programming. Does this driver have any bugs? are there any cons to installing it over the current version that dell offers? thanks

The con is that it's a waste of time to install the modded INF driver unless the release notes fix a problem you are having. Otherwise, there's nothing to be gained.

There's no general performance difference between Dell 10.4 all the way through the current drivers.

Can anybody plz tell which file is to be downloaded from the link above to get latest ATI driver for XPS 1645 (specs. in signature) ?

I just uninstalled the ATI CATAYST CENTRE from my PC, and I feel that it has become faster, could it be true ?

Why does one needs ATI CATALYST ?

you'll want to download the file labeled "Catalyst Software Suite" - the rest of the files are optional. The reason you'll want this file is primary to benefit video performance and features, and you'll want the "CATALYST Control Center" in order to manage the advanced video capabilities including 3D visual and performance enhancements, special TV and other video modes, multi-monitor controls, etc. You can find these settings (if it's installed) by right-clicking the desktop or the All Programs menu.

There's no change log for a lot the packages I've posted in the first post, either. Even when Dell provides a changelog they hardly go over every bug fix or change in functionality, there's usually a lot more than what they tell you. Generally just expect things to be different and likely to improve upon the old version.

BTW got a new IDT audio driver from Dell that doesn't require modding for the XPS 1645 I'm investigating. It's version 6.10.0.6289, previously the newest version was 6.10.0.6272. Will update everyone in a bit.

    9/24/2010 Update Includes
    ...IDT/Audio driver version 6.10.0.6289

    changed entries are:

    IDT/Audio driver version 6.10.0.6289
    Release date: 9/13/2010
    http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R280657.exe

I noticed a major improvement on the IDT control panel, it remembers when you disable SRS. It's the first version that does this, before the setting was always forgotten the minute the control panel was closed or you rebooted the system.

I also found there's a new WiFi driver out from Intel, version 13.3 - but I haven't posted it yet because there's now separate drivers for Enterprise and Home users, not sure which one to recommend yet.

I have to rescind that, a few more reboots and SRS is back enabled. LoL

But there's easy ways to bypass it anyway, use Windows Sound control panel, open up the "Speakers / Headphones" device, go to the Enhancements tab, and check the option "Disable all enhancements" - this will turn off the sound mangling portion of SRS. If you want to completely unload it from memory, there's a registry adjustment that you can make (which also disables it, making the previous step unnecessary (but still good practice if you don't want other programs or settings effecting sound in Windows)): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IDT\Apo\LFX\Speaker1\plugins\SRS and set the DWORD "load" to 0.

Am in the process of updating the Intel WiFi drivers section, will make a post about it when it's done.

The new version killed my control panel. I'm going to try to uninstall, then re-install.

Edit: driver seems to work but I can't get the control panel working. Re-installed older version, back to normal.

if anyone can confirm this I will consider removing it from the listing, but it works perfectly fine here (except for the usual issues that never seem to get fixed). if you're into WinXP, this version also has WinXP drivers for the 1645. I'm considering putting together a list of drivers that should get the system functioning as fully as possible under WinXP, I've seen some people ask before.

Clarify what you mean. You talking about Dell's support page? True, as explained previously, Dell doesn't update their drivers much and what I am tracking are packages either direct from the manufacture or released through another chain that are compatible. Basically one thing Dell does internally is they develop generic driver packages that are compatible with all their hardware (they even pass WHQL certification and all) - they just don't always make the releases available across the board for all the hardware the packages support. I go through and track the releases on the FTP itself and also watch what releases are made available for other systems, and when I find a package that is technically designed for the hardware in the SXPS 1645 and will work (I mean it has the correct hardware and vendor strings/IDs and fully binary compatible driver and even passes Microsoft certification to support it), I post it.

I installed the new IDT audio driver package, so far so good. If you are suddenly missing the control panel, go to the Windows Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound. On the bottom of the list, should be the IDT Control Panel. The new drivers seem to have the task bar icon turned off by default, but you can re-enable it from there.

Thanks, worked. Now that I opened the control panel once using your directions, it's showing up when I start typing "IDT" in the Windows search just like the older version.

Glad I could help! After installing IDT drivers a while back I was suddenly missing the audio panel as well, and it really annoyed me for a few weeks. Thankfully one day when I was cruising around the Windows Control Panel, I finally saw it! :D
