Can you please let me know where did you download IDT sound drivers for m1530-Windows 7 64bit?

Also, any procedure how to install it?

I read lots of problem re: IDT Sound driver installation.

    Thanks!

Read the IDT/Sigmatel part on this guy's blog. It explains everything:

    http://keyliner.blogspot.com/2009/10/dell-xps-m1530-windows-7.html

There is still an audio popping problem reported by some people. It seems that it has to do with Nvidia's Powermizer, although it seems like Nvidia is (slowly) looking into this according to their forums.

For those having problem with the media buttons and volume not displaying, I think you need to install Dell Quickset which is listed under applications on their website for drivers & downloads, vista 64 bit version.

Also make sure you get the Dell Notebook System Software listed under system utilities, it stopped my desktop from hanging.

I've noticed a good performance boost since upgrading from Vista 32 bit!!

I'm about to install 7 on my M1530. So is the consenses to install 32 bit or 64 bit?

I want to install 64 bit but not if it has more issues with sound and video than the 32 bit.

Any thoughts would be great so I can do this tomorrow.

Driver wise mine is working fine, I would say it depends on how much ram you have and if there is any thing that needs 16 bit or would benifit from 64 bit. You could use virtualization if you need to run older programs too.

    Edit:
Just wondering which version of nvidia drivers most people are using. I'm scoring about .1 lower then everyone on graphics and gaming graphics.

    I'm having problems with WIndows 7 x64.

I previously had x32 with no problems

My touchpad is acting weird. I mean, sometimes I'm writing and the cursor goes elsewhere and "clicks". It also affects the writing. Strangely, if the touchpad is ON (checked by disabling it) sometimes instead of tiping a character the computer does "ctrl -> caracter". Imagina I'm typing "p" and instead of apperaing p the computer makes ctrl -> p (printing menu)

I tried both drivers (dell and toshiba, with no diffenrece)

    Any help? Thanks

Hi, sorry if the question has been asked before but my Windows 7 x64 is having problem with my M1530 SATA drive.
Short version : I had to switch the "sata mode" to ATA (instead of AHPI) in the BIOS, now I can't change it back, or else W7 will crash just after the boot selection screen.

Full story : I absolutely have to make a XP/7 dual boot.
BUT Windows XP requires SATA drivers to install, and notebook == no floppy, so one solution was to create a disk customized with nLite but that sounded far too boring for something that should be so much more simple...I read somewhere I could simply switch my SATA drive to its legacy mode, inside the BIOS. I did that. I thought that was very intelligent, oh oh : XP installed okay !

And there comes a bit BUT : I can't switch the setting back to AHPI or W7 will crash on my face in less than a second (can't even read the blue screen error message), even in safe mode. Ah, ah ! Also Windows 7 will want to try "to repair itself" or find the problem, but actually does nothing but keeps my computer doing invisible and useless stuff with a nice little progress bar (oh how I hate that :D no control over what happens, no information on what the program is trying to do but you've to wait) for 15 minutes to finally tell me "well we don't know what's the problem here sorry". Thanks Sherlock.
I didn't bother checking if XP was okay but guess what, I think it would fail, too.
If I switch the setting back to ATA inside the BIOS, Windows 7 (and XP) boot ok, luckily. Phew !

So, I was wondering if anyone did the same thing and encountered the same problem, and eventually found a solution ?
Any consequence of staying in legacy ATA instead of AHPI, or is it nothing to really care about, like just a liittle less performance ? I'd really love that, because I absolutely DON'T want to reinstall my OSes, I have spent about 20 hours on backup-format-copy-install already.

What video drivers are people using?

Everything is working fine with Windows 7 x64, but I find the graphics very sluggish compared to when I had Vista x64 on there.

I'm using the latest official from Nvidia. They support overclocking and I highly recommend OC'ing the card when playing a game. Try 600/800 with Rivatuner
