Bluetooth mouse problem appears to be fixed by installing Dell update R140135, the install routine said that the mouse driver was older than already installed, so I updated the driver manually from device manager.
-
Also I had goten a 3 year subscription of mcafee total protection with Windows Vista 32 bit. That somehow does not work very smooth with Windows 7 64 bit. Any workarounds for this ? -
Link to driver here, but if you go to the Dell website support section and search on R140135 you will find it ok.
http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=188664
Once you have downloaded the file run the file by double clicking, it will ask wher you want to save the output.
To install driver go - Start - Control Panel - Device Manager - Bluetooth Radios - select "Dell Wireless 355 Module" - right mouse click - "Select Update Driver" browse to where you saved the output from the downloaded file and away you go.
Good luck -

I used all the Dell 64-bit drivers, the first drivers I loaded once Windows 7 was installed where the mother board ones to ensure that all the motherboard functionality was enabled. Just make sure you install the Sata drivers. My HD is 5400 western digital 320GB.

I really don't get why some people have that audio stuttering problems with Windows 7 on this model and some don't. I wish I could figure that out so I can use Windows 7 on mine, but I haven't been able to find a combination of drivers yet that don't cause audio stutters/skips.

I'm kind of stumped and am not very happy Dell doesn't seem to want to support these computers for 7. -

Hi,
I have the 4965 AGN wireless card, i've tried all permutations, pc speakers/headphones and HDMI all without any audio problems.
All my drivers for my Windows 7 install are from the Dell website, the only exceptions are Video and UPEK.
From my previous post I didi a clean install without internet connection and installed all Dell 64-Bit drivers before connecting to the internet and allowing Windows to update. -
Hey everyone!
Im new on the forum, I just had a question as I wanted to upgrade my XPS1530 from Vista x84 to a Windows 7 x64 using clean install.
I don't want to install MediaDirect, so do I just boot up from the Windows 7 disc and format my drive (install the ACHI drivers), and then let it continue to install, let it connect to the internet to get drivers?
As well, do I need to get any additional drivers from anywhere else (apart from the bluetooth and fingerprint reader one thats not working for some people)
Thanks for any responses! -
If your M1530 is as it was when shipped it will already have Dell media direct partitions installed as well as the recovery partitions, made up of a D: partition that you will see as well as two hidden partitions.
My advice as these are very small would be to leave them as they are in case you want to restore it back to factory state if anything goes wrong with your upgrade, but that's you choice.
If you look back up this thread you will see how I approached the upgrade to Windows 7, the only difference is I installed a new Disk Drive to preserve all the original software.
So I guess boot from the Windows 7 CD format drive C: and install, just make sure you have collected all the 64-Bit drivers first, I just put them all on memory stick and did not have an internet connection until Windows 7 was installed and I had installed all the Dell 64-Bit drivers, then I let Windows update.
In doing the upgrade in this way I have not had any problems other than the bluetooth mouse issue also detailed in this thread.
Good luck -
Hi im new to Notebook Review and i was hoping that i can get some help on the issue i have. So when i tried to do a fresh install after i formatted the HD, i got an error that the installation disk was missing a file and could not complete installation then aborted. i was reading some previous posts on this thread about updating my bios but i dont see how that could change anything in my situation. i downloaded a new Win 7 (during the time u could get it from Microsoft),burned it, did a clean fresh install but it again failed. Thank you for your help.
-
I guess from your post that the version of Windows 7 is the Beta trial version? Maybe you should look at purchasing the retail version now it's available if you are keen to move to Windows 7, that's what I did, I ran the RC version on an old laptop for a few months but purchased the retail version for my M1530 and as you will see form this thread the install went without a hitch.
I doubt also that updating the Bios will cure your problem as this is almost certainly a software issue.
Updating the BIos to A12 might not be a bad idea as this reportedly cures a few problems, when I did the change I noticed quieter hard disk and better running temps. -

My blog ( www.keyliner.blogspot.com) has current links for 64-bit XPS M1530 Windows 7 drivers.
But, the best driver I could find for the IDT (Sigmatel Audio) is Dell's 64-bit Vista version. I know IDT released a 64-bit Windows 7 driver (see my link to Intel's site), but this did not work, nor did versions from (Toshiba, HP, etc.)
Has anyone found a link for the newer IDT version?
Thanks. -
I know this maybe a stupid question but - did you all run the "Mobile Chipset and the RIOCH drivers" before allowing windows to update or before installing any other drivers/updates? ( http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...emID=XPS_M1530&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex= )
I believe that Windows 7 should be installed without any internet connection thus not allowing it to update any drivers before you have installed the mobile Chipset and RIOCH drivers and all the other relevant 64-Bit Drivers available.
Also my Sigmatel drivers are Dell R171786 and not the Dell R171788. -

I tried other drivers with my M1530 for sound and it just made it more unstable so I just went back to the old Vista drivers that Dell has up on the site.
The problem doesn't seem too bad, but I guess I'll just deal with it for now. -
I installed the Vista 64 bit QuickSet for M1530, but the mute multimedia button doesn't work. Others are fine. Anyone has an idea on how to fix it? Or which Windows 7 QuickSet can be installed for M1530?

Help, After using Win 7 64 HP for 3 weeks now , suddenly from yesterday onwards I started getting this message " Consider replacing your battery" . Anybody else facing this problem here ? my xps is only 1.5 years old and it has a perfectly healthy battery !
-
I've been running x64 on my laptop for a couple of weeks now.
Everything is running nice, except I got a BSOD after I wake my computer from hibernate a couple of times now. Anyone else have this problem?
I haven't installed any chipset drivers, so I'm going to do that and see if that corrects the problem. When I installed it everything ran perfectly without need of drivers except the video card and the touchpad (So those are the two drivers I've installed so far) . -
Did the bsod happen immediately after waking up the pc from hibernation ? -

hey guys
I just got done installing win 7 64 pro on my 1530. First thanks traywolf your site was helpful especially for the finger print driver. Thanks to the rest on this thread also. I got my achi off the intel site installed it after I loaded windows and worked just fine. No real issues with any of the other drivers EXCEPT
My battery icon says %15 available charged,, not charging.
Whats with that and how do I get my battery to charge???????????????
Thanks -
I ended up taking disconnecting the charger letting the batter run down then plugging it back in and now its charging.
This thread was so helpfull,,my xps 1530 is 1 1 /2 years old how could dell not support it anymore. -

Any progress on the audio stuttering problem?

Well, I just tried a reinstall of Win7 to see if some other suggestions would work.
1. Fresh Install, with no network devices on
2. Installed Intel Chipset infinst911_autol, reboot
3. Installed Ricoh_R5C833_VT_080611 card reader driver, reboot
4. Installed Intel Sata driver (Intel SATA AHCI IATA89ENU), reboot.
5. Used IDT sound drivers m1530 st-idt_6224.0, reboot
6. GPU 186.81_notebook_win7_winvista_32bit_international_whql, reboot
7. Then I put the rest in, bluetooth, touchpad, Dell quickset etc.
8. Turned on wireless, and plugged in network
9. Installed updates
Tested the machine. Initially all seemed good. As soon as the machine was put under pressure (copying a lot of files over the network LAN) then got loads of sound glitches
So, its still borked, and unless someone can see an issue with how I am installing things its the actual drivers that are the problem. -

Ugh, it's back!
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5482459&postcount=207
For now, my XPS1530 remains solid - no fps drops and no crackly sound.
However, I decided it was safe to upgrade me girlfriends computer, exact same make and model. I installed the Chipset drivers and Rioch driver before any windows updates, but the FPS drops are happening for her now.
I did run RightMark DX and CPU tests, and they showed no fps drops. She only has WoW, no other games, but it is damn strange that mine suddenly works and hers does not.
Any other suggestions? Thanks. -

Thanks for the tip, looked promising but unfortunately had no effect. After 30-40 seconds in game my frames go from a steady 60 to a steady ~30 and back up again a minute later. I could see it as a power saving type deal, but I guess Powermizer wasn't it.
-
11. Installed Wireless Intel_multi-device_A05_R164259, reboot
Adding these two drivers onto the end of my install seems to have sorted things for the moment. I have spent all afternoon listening to mp3s, and have pushed the machine while doing so. Not one glitch all afternoon since I added the two above drivers. Fingers crossed that I may have it.
EDIT: Although I am not having any skipping I have noticed that the system process audiodg.exe is eating up to 50% of my CPU at times. After a little research it would appear this is connected to audio enhancements, so I am going to try and disable that and see if that reduces CPU usage. (You have to show processes from all users to see this) -
i just installed win 7 pro on mine, i went to the dell website and i downloaded&installed the windows vista 64 bit chipset, and went to nvidia and got the video drivers.. My device manager seems clean.. any other driver i need to install to increase performance&funtionality?
PST: before installing any drivers i did have an internet connection, so i know windoes went to the internet and installed few drivers -
Just installed win7 pro on mine.
Definitely feels a lot faster than my vista 64 install.
Screen shots of WEI and system setup included.
Hard drive is a 500Gb 5400rpm from Dell.
Tomorrow I have a WD caviar Black 500Gb 7200rpm arriving.
I will do another install and see how the new disc affects the WEI score.Attached Files:

I went out and bought a laptop cooler. My temps have droppedBut saboteur still crashes.

I recently upgraded my Vista x32 to 7 x32 (shoulda gotten x64!) and I have been very pleased with the OS, except for one fatal error driving me crazy.
Every 20 minutes (on the dot) my system "hangs" for about 30 seconds, stutters, hangs for another 30 seconds, and then it passes as if there was no problem at all.
My thought is that it's related to the RAM or the hard drive. I currently have 3gb RAM (downgraded from 4gb after my computer stopped recognizing it) and the Samsung HM250JI HD.
All of my drivers are up to date. I've defragged and error-checked the hard drive. I've reseated the hard drive. I've switched and swapped the sticks of RAM.
Anyone have any ideas? Am I working in the wrong direction?
I acquired Windows 7 through my university so I'm downloading the x64 version and I am going to start fresh later this afternoon but I am sceptical it will resolve the issue.
edit: Also, while reading through all 29 pages of this thread, I saw a lot of people having issues with the WEI score on their HD. My HD appears fine (5.3) but my processor (T7500 duo 2.2ghz) is quite low (3.6) -
I was wondering if anyone was able to help? I have Quickset installed for Win 7 x64. I can't get the wifi catcher to work. I press the button, for a split second the cursor gets the little circle than nothing. It just doesn't work. Any way to get it working?
-
Okay, I've downloaded and burned my Windows 7 x64 ISO to a DVD but upon booting from the DVD and choosing my installation language, I receive an error that the CD/DVD drive driver is missing.
I've been looking around for a driver, but can't find one for the life of me. Is this a faulty burn of the ISO or do I need to find the DVD driver to load from a USB drive? I have a TEAC DVD +-RW DVW28SLC ATA drive. -
OK so i've installed almost every driver off the Dell website for my service tag but I still cant get my Soft Touch media buttons to work
Anyone have any sugestions??? -
-
Maybe this should be in the networking discussion but I think it is related to the M1530 upgraded to W7 x 64.
I can not transfer large files or download videos from the internet. The system drops the wifi connection and locks up so I have to reboot most of the time.
My M1530 has the 4965agn NIC and I have tried Intels latest drivers, a new Netgear WNDR3700 Router, a clean install with only the Microsoft Updates installed, along with various settings that I have researched and nothing seems to help.
In all other aspects I like W7 x 64 bit (I replaced XP on my desktop) but this is an issue for me which I never had with Vista 32 bit. I could download movies from Hulu in other rooms of the house but now I can't even do that in the same room as my router.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. -

Hi. I have just reinstalled Windows 7 64-bit, and device manager is showing three devices that do not have drivers installed.
They are listed under "Other devices". All three entries are called "Base System Device".
The locations are:
PCI bus 3, device 9, function 2
PCI bus 3, device 9, function 4
PCI bus 3, device 9, function 3
Does anyone know what these are? I will then go onto the Dell site and get the drivers. Thanks. -
I installed the ricoh driver from the Dell website and it worked for me. Good luck!
-
Thanks, thector1!
That worked a treat
