Are you saying you just received the M1530 WUXGA? If so please post the Dell P/N from the service tag and the monitor hardware ID from device manager.

    Thanks

Info regarding delays in shipping depending upon your screen selection:

    Full Hi Definition, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD (1920x1200) & 2.0 M 15 days
    High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1440x900) & 2MP Camera 10 days
High Resolution glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050) & 2MP Camera None
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LED LCD (1440x900) & 2.0 M None

I wonder why there is no mention of a 1680x1050 LED that I keep hearing about.

hmm were the three returns at all, or were all 3 original orders? same goes for the M1330. just seems weird my original had the plastic film and this one did not.

I ordered a similar configuration yesterday except with 2.4 ghz and a 4 year warranty. Seemed like a good deal to me and I needed a comp for the next 4 years to make it through the hells of grad school (as I will have no money until i graduate). Here's to hoping the 1680x1050 screens aren't as bad as everyone is making them out to be.

    4GB DDR2
15.4 inch Wide Screen WSXGA+ TrueLife
    256MB GeForce 8600M

Doesn't seem too bad to me, mine was a little cheaper yesterday but not by much. I'd say just enjoy the lappy.

I'm not sure you can ship it back without being charged a 15% restocking fee, around $200 for your total, unless there is something wrong with it. At least that is what a rep told me but he may not know what he is talking about.

That is a 2 year old page. So I dont think you should trust that as an absolute answer. However, I am sure that if you just recently got it you should be able to have some leverage saying that you are not satisfied with the product.

Hi, i know i have brought this up before, but i might give it another shot in this lounge, cos i am still not convinced these symptoms are normal.

My 8600M GT in my M1530 is heating up to 72 on idle, before the fans kick in and bring it back down to 58-59, it does this constantly, while i am using the computer, unless i am stressing the cpu where the fan stays on and keeps the GPU down.

Would dell take this problem seriously? or is it not a problem at all? Someone suggested it could be a poorly positioned heatsink.

PS: my CPU gets up to 72 under stress (encoding HD) is this also normal?

Does anyone know which Taiwanese laptop vendor makes the dell xps laptop line? I was thinking they were clevo's, but i visited their website and none of the model's matched. It's either Quanta or Compal who makes the xps line, such as the m1330 and m1530. does anyone know for sure? If it's quanta, the innards of the laptop are usually covered with quanta labels. Has anyone seen any labels of the sort on the inside of their laptop, specifically the m1530?

I placed my order for a blue XPS M1530 on April 19, now I just have to wait...

    Specs:
    T8300 2.4GHz
    4GB DDR2
15.4 inch Wide Screen WSXGA+ TrueLife
    256MB GeForce 8600M
    320GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
    Vista Home Premium
    Intel AGN
    Bluetooth
3 Year Warranty with accidential damage

...all for $1310 before tax. Could have saved an additional $120 or so, but saving over $800 is not shabby this time of the year. Those EPP and coupons sure help!

Grats elitehomegifts. I have a similar config, but with the 160, audigy, and the 9 cell battery. Mine was 1284.55. I missed out on the 6% AAA coupon *sigh*... would've been nearly $1200 with AAA. Oh well. Does your ship date show 5/25ish ? =[

Also what score are you guys getting for the gaming graphics on the card? I get 5.4 on 1 system and 5.5 on the other. They both have the same drivers 174.31

Btw what brand drives did u guys get for the dvd burners? one of mine is a matsu****a and the other is a optiarc. I have never heard of optiarc before.

Wanted to chime in, that after checking my service tag, its listed as:

DW306 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2

:) - so there is still luck and its still possible to get a LG instead of a Samsung

    Two questions:

    1) Referring to the screen choices for the m1530, what is the difference between the High Resolution, glossy widescreen LED LCD (1680x1050) and the Full Hi Definition glossy widescreen LCD (1920x1200)? The LED one is more expensive, but for some reason the words "full hi definition" lead me to believe that it would be the better screen choice. Also, I can adjust the size of text on these high resolutions right? Don't wanna be squinting my eyes when reading something...

    2) I'm looking to get me one of these for when I start college in August. Should I take advantage of the $599 savings and snatch one up right now or wait for a possible redesign/update of the m1530 that might release during the summer?

When it says "Full Hi Definition" it means it can play 1080p (1920 x 1200) BluRay/HD movies in its "original dimensions".

Just from reading, it seems impractical since most have said your vision will decrease dramatically (go blind) if you use a 1920 15inch monitor since the font is so small.

But can't you just lower the resolution settings in the control panel when you want to read text and just switch back when you want to watch movies?

    and/or ctrl +.......?

I'm still waiting for my M1530, but LCDs are best run in their native resolution, or else everything looks fuzzy. I'm sure the drivers will allow for the resolution to be adjusted, but be prepared for a less-than-optimal experience.
