Are you saying you just received the M1530 WUXGA? If so please post the Dell P/N from the service tag and the monitor hardware ID from device manager.
Thanks
-
No I just placed my order yesterday in the madness frenzy of discounts. It wont be here til end of next month (5/20)... at least thats what Order Status says.
-

High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1440x900) & 2MP Camera 10 days
High Resolution glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050) & 2MP Camera None
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LED LCD (1440x900) & 2.0 M None
I wonder why there is no mention of a 1680x1050 LED that I keep hearing about. -
-
i have heard people (myself being 1) talk about it, but who knows if dell will ever release it. is there currently any brand that makes an LED screen with that resolution?
-
I dont know. I just want my laptop here already.
By the way, does anyone know why there is no mention of Turbo Memory as an option / feature? -
Just ordered a xps 1530.

256MB GeForce 8600M
250GB 5400RPM Hard Drive

4 Year Warranty with $70 DELL gift card
for a final price (with tax) $1380 or $1310 with free $70 gift card. Cant wait, the thing is a behemoth!!!!
First thing I am doing when I get it is downgrading to XP
PS:I think of it this way, if there is a better deal later this week, I can always cancel or ship it back. -
Doesn't seem too bad to me, mine was a little cheaper yesterday but not by much. I'd say just enjoy the lappy.
I'm not sure you can ship it back without being charged a 15% restocking fee, around $200 for your total, unless there is something wrong with it. At least that is what a rep told me but he may not know what he is talking about. -
But, there is no restocking fee to get a different LCD screen, right?
In this article,
http://www.matbennett.com/tech/dell-truelife-screen.php
Does that mean one can replace their glossy screen with a matte screen, DELL will do that?
Thanks for clearing that up! -
That is a 2 year old page. So I dont think you should trust that as an absolute answer. However, I am sure that if you just recently got it you should be able to have some leverage saying that you are not satisfied with the product.
-
Hi, i know i have brought this up before, but i might give it another shot in this lounge, cos i am still not convinced these symptoms are normal.
My 8600M GT in my M1530 is heating up to 72 on idle, before the fans kick in and bring it back down to 58-59, it does this constantly, while i am using the computer, unless i am stressing the cpu where the fan stays on and keeps the GPU down.
Would dell take this problem seriously? or is it not a problem at all? Someone suggested it could be a poorly positioned heatsink.
PS: my CPU gets up to 72 under stress (encoding HD) is this also normal? -

Does anyone know which Taiwanese laptop vendor makes the dell xps laptop line? I was thinking they were clevo's, but i visited their website and none of the model's matched. It's either Quanta or Compal who makes the xps line, such as the m1330 and m1530. does anyone know for sure? If it's quanta, the innards of the laptop are usually covered with quanta labels. Has anyone seen any labels of the sort on the inside of their laptop, specifically the m1530?

I placed my order for a blue XPS M1530 on April 19, now I just have to wait...
Specs:
T8300 2.4GHz

256MB GeForce 8600M
320GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
Vista Home Premium
Intel AGN
Bluetooth
3 Year Warranty with accidential damage
...all for $1310 before tax. Could have saved an additional $120 or so, but saving over $800 is not shabby this time of the year. Those EPP and coupons sure help! -
I will be ordering this m1530 this weekend, is there any way to have dell not install the extra bloat ware. This is my first laptop so if something here looks strange or wrong/incompatible please let me know.

Grats elitehomegifts. I have a similar config, but with the 160, audigy, and the 9 cell battery. Mine was 1284.55. I missed out on the 6% AAA coupon *sigh*... would've been nearly $1200 with AAA. Oh well. Does your ship date show 5/25ish ? =[
-
-
Also what score are you guys getting for the gaming graphics on the card? I get 5.4 on 1 system and 5.5 on the other. They both have the same drivers 174.31 -
temps on gpu cpu? mine gets to 72 on idle then the fan kicks in. 78-79 gaming.
-
ship date shows 5/23/08... I know the reason for this is the new lcd that I'm getting
-
Btw what brand drives did u guys get for the dvd burners? one of mine is a matsu****a and the other is a optiarc. I have never heard of optiarc before. -
Optiarc = Sony
I wont have mine for a month, but yeah Optiarc is Sony's name for their optical drive line -
I'll be using mine for listening to music and watching movies a lot, both with head phones and speakers, should i opt for the ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi® Xtreme Audio Sound Card, how much better is it than the Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition?
-
I have an X-Fi in my desktop, and it definitely makes a difference.
-
do you know how it compares to the Sound Blaster Audigy HD?
-
i do not, as i do not have mine yet. i ordered mine with the HD Software, as I do not plan on using anything but the laptop speakers for sound.
-
Wanted to chime in, that after checking my service tag, its listed as:
DW306 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 15.4WSXGA+, TLF, LGP, V2
- so there is still luck and its still possible to get a LG instead of a Samsung

Two questions:
1) Referring to the screen choices for the m1530, what is the difference between the High Resolution, glossy widescreen LED LCD (1680x1050) and the Full Hi Definition glossy widescreen LCD (1920x1200)? The LED one is more expensive, but for some reason the words "full hi definition" lead me to believe that it would be the better screen choice. Also, I can adjust the size of text on these high resolutions right? Don't wanna be squinting my eyes when reading something...
2) I'm looking to get me one of these for when I start college in August. Should I take advantage of the $599 savings and snatch one up right now or wait for a possible redesign/update of the m1530 that might release during the summer? -
When it says "Full Hi Definition" it means it can play 1080p (1920 x 1200) BluRay/HD movies in its "original dimensions".
Just from reading, it seems impractical since most have said your vision will decrease dramatically (go blind) if you use a 1920 15inch monitor since the font is so small. -
Which games are you playing with your M1530s???
-
Do not really play games, but if I do - I play "Total War"
-
But can't you just lower the resolution settings in the control panel when you want to read text and just switch back when you want to watch movies?
and/or ctrl +.......? -
That's what I thought too, now I am not sure myself....
-
I'm still waiting for my M1530, but LCDs are best run in their native resolution, or else everything looks fuzzy. I'm sure the drivers will allow for the resolution to be adjusted, but be prepared for a less-than-optimal experience.
