I got the 9 cell new battery. Cuz believe it or not, when I travel to boot camp Maui, I may take the 1530 cuz it's so fun!!!!
-
It's a great battery..The elevation is great!
Cin -
That is what I was thinking the elevation would be comfy on the lap compared to a cooler for the flight.

Does anybody have any preferences for a good travel case/bag for
the 1530. I love the one pictured in the accesories area on the Dell site, but it isn't available!
Thanks for any opinions. -

Oh thanks Cin, I was going to ask you, but don't want to always be a bother
-
I figured you would want something TSA approved for your flight to *that extremely warm and gorgeous place*, your traveling to!
Cin -
Oh my that's hard one to choose? What do you use?
-
in a few months I will be, though!
So, I will need a nice & inexpensive TSA approved bag!
I just use my Swiss Gear Synergy backpack, or my Maddie Power's Cute Bug Messenger bag by Mobile Edge.
If you want some more help in looking at some, I'm more than happy to help you!

Thank god for the beautfiul scenery and it's paid for not by me..... the
"computer nerd". lol -
Sorry getting off track to the group. Jane

. Hey, do you have the LED for your screen, and what brand?
Cin -
-
I sure can get it!
jane -
FX313 Liquid Crystal Display 15.4WXGA+, LIGHT EMITTING DIODE..., TLF, CHI MEI OPTOELECTRONICS...
Is that what you mean?
One thing I've noticed about my 1530 display is that it is the brightest I have ever had. Almost so bright I need to turn it down a bit in regular light. -
My viewing on my 1530 is just awesome
And, I don't have the LED..just an awesome LG screen!
Cin -
I've mostly only owned Dell products, but it is one that I really love.
And now my son is using a Dell 12 10 that I used to have and it's going strong....
Why did you ask about the screen??? -
No biggie.
Cin. -
I'm looking at an m1530 on dell.ca with a 1920x1200 screen.
What manufacturer and model is the 256GB SSD, and 128GB SSD? I think it's Samsung but I can't seem to find this info on the website. Is the 256 a superior model to the 128?
How much more do you think I'm paying to have it ship with this SSD rather than install it myself? Is it a very inferior SSD compared to one I can buy aftermarket? 320GB 5400rpm ---> 128GB SSD $170 CAD ____ 256GB SSD $420 CAD
I'm willing to pay some extra for the convenience.
Thanks

Anyone know what the material all around the touch pad is? (the shiny silver stuff)
There's a small scratch on it that has been bugging me for a while, and i'm wondering if using a bit of Brasso or nail polish remover or something like that would work in covering it up. -
I hope someone else will chime in on this also. Do you have any rubbing alcohol you can try on it? Just *dab* at it a bit..to be for sure?
(I thought the touchpad was also aluminum)?
Cin -
^ I mean the area around the touchpad, the part where the Vista and Intel stickers are, and all that smooth stuff.
-
It's brushed aluminum....(brushed magnesium alloy)
Try some rubbing alcohol..see if that works first. I've heard someone used a cleaning agent called Nevrdull: http://www.nevrdull.com/
If you can find something like this, it make work

My warranty expires on Friday and im thinking of getting a T9300 processor just like urs mate!
Was a difficult task to replace ur processor? Did u use arctic silver? Any temp drops?
Cheers - Ash -
Hi everyone
I'm thinking of upgrading the hard drive in my m1530 but not exactly sure which one would be best. Wanna get a 7200rpm drive to see what there like in comparison to the 5400rpm it came with and maybe something around 400-500GB.
Was thinking of the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 laptop hard drives
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/laptops/momentus/momentus_7200.4/
Anyone know if this is any good or have any recommendations of other drives?
Oh and same as kal_ash_nikov's question, is it difficult to replace the processor?
Thanks,
Jack. -
Hey well I was thinking of purchasing the XPS m1530 and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how Left 4 Dead performs on this laptop.
Please leave your thoughts and comments. -
can somebody point me in the direction where the clean install instructions are from Les? I want to back to vista from my windows 7.
Thanks! -
i've had m1530 for 2 months now, this is my first ever laptop, am having problems while typing, my hands brushes up against the touchpad a lot, is this common with all laptops or just this model.

I have a 1530 with a Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card installed. My dell started not being able to find my wireless signal. In the control panel under "Dell wireless WLAN card Utilize" it picks up the signal, but I cannot connect to it through that program.
I reinstalled the drivers for the wireless card. My connection shows up now and I can connect to it, but it only connects as a "Local area connection" so it doesn't allow me to go online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS - My itouch log onto my wireless connection fine, so Im pretty sure its just the Dell -

Has anyone successfuly upgraded from standard DVD-R/RW to the UJ225 Bluray? I see that they are going on ebay for under $200 now and was thinking about picking one up. I just thought that I had read somewhere that if you didnt get the BD drive originally from Dell that YOU COULD NOT upgrade later.??!!!

I just recieved my XPS m1530. Delivery was pretty quick as I ordered it last friday and my expected delivery was set to march 13th.
Upon startening my m1530 I in for a bad surprise as my screen had a problem just to the left of the center. It seems like the screen 'flickers' a bit.. I am not sure if this is the right word to discribe it as English is not my primary language.
So now I've called the tech support and I should get it fixed on monday or atleast that is what I was promised
Just ran 3dmark06 and scored about 4850 points.. This is quite an upgrade from my old zepto 6214w laptop.
Hopefully I'll get happy with this laptop -
I vote go for it.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 2, 2015 -
Just got my 1530 on Thursday. It was quite a surprise as the automated order system said it was only in transit to the shipping carrier with an estimated delivery of March 11. I never did get a tracking number for it and the FedEx guy just tossed it on my porch. I hate to think what would have happened had I not been home at the time... Have to say, I am NOT happy about Dells shipping notification system at all.
BUT, I AM happy with the 1530 itself. I was really worried about it after reading this thread (all 244 pages of it LOL), but I'm having no overheating, resolution, keyboard or any other issues. It was supposedly a scratch and dent, but I can't find a scratch on it. It runs quietly and quickly, it's light, has an impressive battery life for it's class and seems to be very sturdy.
All in all, I think I'm in love (^_^) -
I just ordered a scratch & dent with the 15% coupon as well. It said estimated delivery of March 17th but it shipped out yesterday so I'm hoping it comes early next week. Just like you it says carrier information unavailable, so I'm guessing I'm not going to get a tracking number from them. -
It's really easy to love the 1530 for sure! And it travels well.

Question that someone who owns a M1530 and knows anything about cameras might know. That slot in the front of the m1530 the card reader. There is a fake dummy plastic dell logo'd card reader in there. Does anyone know if its possible to buy a REAL card reader that fits in there seamless just like the dell one does?
and if so what kind of card are they? I have a sony memory stick and it doesnt fit without an adaptor and ti sticks out.
and secondly what is GOOD 4gb of ram i can stick in this puppy? -
you can use SD cards, which are around 20 bucks for 2gb, depending on where you get it. Since its 8-in-1, there are more cards compatible, too. Just google it
Anyway...I ordered my 1530 on Wednesday and will be expecting it sometime next week, maybe later if delayed. One question, does Dell use Fedex now or do they still use DHL? -
Fedex, DHL no longer operates in the U.S.

I was just wondering, but are you guys having problems with your graphics cards? I heard about the defective NVIDIA GeForce 8400m and 8600m. Have any of you experienced any problems?
