    1. That area comes back blank. And my history should save for 20 days. I also increased the amount of memory available. Still blank.
    2. I checked, default is still Window photo gallaery. I get an error messege that windows cant open this file.

    1. I have no idea. Are you running anything that would erase it like Track Eraser Pro or Ace Utilities or something. Or maybe Spybot?
    2. Try opening the files with MS Paint, just to make sure they aren't corrupted.

    @lindstroem
In a german forum someone OC'd it to 6k 3dmarks (710/1800Mhz). He had absolutely no heat issues.

    @MadeiraG
The best value is probably the T7500.
It has enough power and you won't notice the difference to the T7700 (if you don't want to pay the price for it).

You will notice a difference, whether it's $300 of difference is dependant on how intensive the movie work and the games you play are.

I saw a good gain in games and audio encoding from the 7700 to 7800 so the 7500 to 7700 will be the same in retrospect. :)

I have been thinking the same thing. Maybe the most popular dell models should have separate forums.

I open a lot of threads only to find they aren't relevant to the m1530.

Here is what I ordered on Monday:

    M1530 - Crimson Red
    T7800 2.6GHz
    3GB ram
    250GB hard drive
    8600GT 256MB
    Wxga+ Screen (1680x1050)
    Built-in Wireless USB capability

What I want to know is if anyone has had any experience with the built-in wireless usb with hub? I think it sounds pretty cool but cannot find any information out there about it.

I have not recieved my laptop yet but am very interested in hearing about peoples experiences with the wireless USB.

I found the solutions, although took a long time.

    1. I totally reinstalled the vista using the DVD, and all the crapware was gone, history came back. I used the drivers from dell's site

    2. My media reader is not able to read my SD card, that was the problem, although XP reads that card well.

    Thanks any way

    Hi guys!
Does anyone here own the CCFL WXGA+ in XPS 1530?
    Is it AUo or LG?
How is it respect to an WSXGA+ as about brightness, viewing angles, etc?
Here in Europe there is a term, "ultrasharp" to indicate a technology which improve brightness and generally guarantees a better imgage quality. I see many people in USA do not know this term. But in italian site the WXGA and WSXGA+ are shown as ultrasharp AND true life, while the WXGA+ only says true life.
I am worried about buying the WXGA+ for this reason. As it is surely an LG, i would buy it imediately, as in the WSXGA+ i can get LG or the SECC3350, which some people is liking it a lot, some other not at all.
but, I fear that missing ultrasharp...
    HELP!!!!:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Its the luck of the draw really. Although at least subjectively it seems that most people are getting the grainy SEC/Samsung (NOT Ultrasharp at all). One person just reported getting the CPT (chinese company). I have not seen anyone with a m1530 mention the AUO screen. The LG is really nice, though. Good "luck" and let us know what you get if you order.

Yeah, I will. Anyway, here in Italy some people with the SEC3350 on XPS say it is very good.
I just have no idea of how much better is a good Ultrasharp display over a good non ultrasharp display, and how much better is a WSXGA+ over a WXGA+. As this is, apparently, a non ultrasharp WXGA+, even if LG, I fear it can be much lesser quality than the WSXGA+ ultrasharp LG or even samsung.
I never so any wxga+ in my life. And the only WSXGA+ is the bad matte SEC3350 I have on D830.

Hello people, just a question regarding the memory and upgrading it. Would this memory work to upgrade with in the XPS 1530? What's the difference between a SO-DIMM DDR2 PC5300 and just a DDR2 PC5300 ? Or any DDR2 PC5300 667 mhz is ok SO-DIMM or not? Thanks!

SO-DIMM is particularly for notebooks meaning it is smaller in size (200 pin) as opposed to the regular ram which has a 240 pins on it.

I'm not sure from what you say what is going on with yours, but mine has some kind for problem. The R key just came off while I was typing, and the place where it connects to the keyboard is broken. Since then I've noticed other keys occasionally sticking or not being seated properly. If I press down on the key it will snap back in. I hope I just have a bad keyboard, because I do not want to deal with keys coming off all the time.

Um, it's not like that, I can still type on it and everything however the key itself seems to be a little tougher to push down in order to make it work compared to others. Almost as if you were trying to type with a cotton ball under the key

3 suggestions: press down a little extra hard on it until it snaps into place better (or doesn't, if it's already in place.)

pop the key off, check for something actually underneath it and snap it back on.

call Dell and have them send you a new keyboard. They are a breeze to replace. My replacement is parked outside my door right now. It took one day to arrive.

Hi guys, I'm about to purchase a 1530 but I wanted to know something first. I'm not a big gamer but I do occasionaly play SC4. My old dv1000 did fairly well with it and I know the 1530 should be able to handle this game ok, right? Even with Vista? What about TS2 and all its expansion packs? Thanks.

Sup3rman, Mine goes between 55-67 degrees (fan activates and it goes down and so fourth.. a little roller coaster) so there is no problem

alexr15, no problem with your gaming needs. The M1530 does quite well with all the newest games.

That difficult to do. Depending on the parts chosen it can take a week. Or in my case less than 4 days.

Update: my laptop has made it through customs processing and is at dhl ready to ship to my house, might get it tomorrow.

I'll get on that right away. They're overclockable, right? Also, I've been using rivatuner, and every time I change the settings, they go right back to what they were!!! I can actually see the bars revert to default as when I press ok! What am I doing wrong?

Just got mine. Love it so far.

    2 questions:

Three are a few slit scratches below the power button and DVD controls. It is on the black plastic part right below the part that had the plastic coating that I peeled off. The scratches are not deep but they are perminate. You have to look at it at the right angle to see them.

Should I ask for a replacement or do you think they will give me a credit? Or is this normal and I shouldn't worry about it?

    Thanks.

Should I reformat my computer and reload everything? Will that speed things up or since I will be using the same disk the computer came with will that not help at all.

If I reformat should I get rid of the recovery partition and not create it on the reintall?

    Thanks.

    Sorry one more question.

I have the 4 year warranty with accidental coverage. I can return it for $375 to a one year (although I would not get the $70 gift card so it is more like $305 return).

Should I do this? I noticed the batteries are around $180 so wouldn't it be worth keeping just for the battery replacement?

    Thanks!!!!! :)

The closest that Canada has to Newegg is NCIX.
    http://www.ncix.com/

It is very reliable, has a pretty good variety and is reasonably cheap.

You can get cheaper, but none are as reliable as NCIX.

I got my 1530 a couple of days ago and am happy with the machine. I'm getting used to vista, it seems to be a good OS. I've experienced the funny mouse pad like the discussions earlier, which I intend to get rid of by reinstalling vista, but i've a doubt about the battery - how should i use the battery to increase its life? I used to plug in the AC adapter all the time with the previous laptop till a friend suggested that it would spoil the battery, so i've been using the 1530 completely on battery and charge it switched off....whats the correct way of using the battery?

Best way is to remove the battery when you have the AC adapter plugged in for a long time, and store in a cool dry place. Use the battery when you are away from the mains power supply.

Thank you Bbiddle, I've removed the battery frm my old laptop to check on it :) , wouldn't wanna do things wrong with my new one...once i'm convinced with the old one i'll try it on my XPS. I've another doubt, I used to connect two XP machines via RJ45 jack, but now i cannot connect Vista and XP....However i managed to connect two vistas with some difficulty...any easy way to do this?

    I placed an order for a new m1530 on the 30th...I'm excited! I'll be upgrading from a Dell Inspiron 9300. Only thing I'm still not sure is if I can adjust going from a 17" to a 15"...we'll see! Here's what I went with;

    XPS M1530
    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7800 (2.6GHz/800MHzFSB, 4M L2 Cache)
