    I called again out of sheer boredom (slow day at work). I can't imagine what my customer log looks like. Anyway despite all evidence to the contrary the guy said the records show i should be getting it on or before the 12th. I said that was highly unlikely and mentioned the wifi issue. He just repeated what he said and tried to register my email address to be notified when it ships.

    Well my system shows as shipped and Ive got tracking info finally. Looks like ill have it on Monday. Ill post all info requested, windows exp index, heat issues, benchmarks etc. No idea about the concessions that Im going to get from Dell but Ill keep everyone up to date. To those others that are having issues, keep raising hell, its how I got mine after being lied to so many times.(YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    I wouldnt let him pull that off cause if you ask for compensation on the 14th he will have to cancel the order again and replace... all i did was mention that people with the same issue in the states are getting it so why not me .. he couldnt argue

    I'd have to agree. He just shooed you away to avoid having to comp you. I would call back and basicly tell him that you KNOW due to how many people are after this laptop that there is no way he'll get it to you "on time" which imo is already way beyond what it should have been.

    Just keep pushing for it until they give it to you. If my order goes through (which it wont) I'm happy, but when it does get canceled I'm goign to get 6gb of RAM or an SSD or else.

    well from what I am reading, 3 lucky persons have got their unit shipped today. Congrats to them, I am hoping next week we will see an exodus of 16's from Dell and their sites.... Keeping fingers crossed.

    Well my ordered date is 09-28 and ESD is 11-10. Still 'in production' with the old wi-fi part. Let's see what happens. Good to hear that they have started shipping.

    Well, my order was supposed to ship today. I called and the order was delayed to the 16th. Given that I had the defective wifi part still, I assumed I would wait for a week and then have my order canceled like everyone else. I just canceled and will hold off until Dell figures out what is going on, there is more i7 competition to bring down the costs, or I find a suitable replacement. Good luck guys.

    What number did you call and what options did you choose to find that out? When I call the usual Dell number and go to customer service, I get no info whatsoever.

    I don't think there will be anymore delays. Dell used to be known for beating the estimated shipping date. I received an email and a phone call that my order (placed on 10/16 EDD 11/9- changed by DELL on 10/31 EDD 11/23) has been built and being shipped within the next two business days.

    Also don't expect that they build them one by one, they build and ship them as lots. So as long as they have the parts and now they do, it does not take them much to build and ship the rest.

    I called 1-800-283-2210 and used the 3,2,1,1 option. After the automated status update it offers the option to transfer to a rep.

    I actually tried to cancel my order a week ago but they wouldn't let me saying it was being built. I am kinda relieved it was delayed again to I could.

    Especially considering the A500 series doesn't even include the i7 CPU! How is that similar to the 1645? :confused:

    I'm going to call them after work tonight. I dont care if my order is pushed out another month. I just want to know that it is going to work. I'm going to tell them that if they want me to place a new order that they better make a tempting offer. I can build a monster gaming desktop on a Mini-ITX form factor and have it be portable enough to take over to friends houses for the same cost that Dell wants for this SXPS, and I'll just do that if I ultimatly have to.

    http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/X500 would be the closest to the XPS16. Although 18.4 inches is WAY too big for me -- especially since I end up traveling a lot. Plus I prefer not to have a laptop that looks like a hot rod. :p

    Should also note that price is pretty good...but I didn't really dig to see if there was any optional configuration.

    On this note, would anyone be willing to tell me who you spoke to, and if they were in the EPP department or not?

    I really would love to speak with some one that is part of the EPP program that knows about this issue so that I can get it taken care of *tonight* instead of the "oh I'll call you back" diversion.

    Those of you who have gotten your orders canceled as a result of the Intel 5300 item number, when did the cancellation occur? On the estimated shipping day, delivery date, ...?

    I'd like to expedit the delivery and that isn't possible until the cancellation occurs... But Dell reps have told me to wait for the automatic cancellation.... Grrrrrr

    Saturday delivery??? I think only FEDEX HOME delivers on Saturday with normal ground service. No tracking number yet???

    Mine canceled on the Est. shipping date after it had already been pushed back a week once (and it was on the evening of the est. shipping date).

    I know! So so close. I may post a quick unboxing video on Sunday when I get back on campus, but I think we might have to wait for someone else to get it for all the fun benches, pictures, etc. But someone else, I'm sure, should get theirs tomorrow, too, or Monday at the latest. By W

    I'm surprised I received this e-mail when everybody else had their order canceled & replace "without" their permission. Granted, I told them they did not have permission by phone but did they ask? No.

    IMPORTANT NEWS!!!

    OK, this is EVEN better. If you have a SHIPPED laptop and there is NO tracking number:

    Go to your order status page. Under Order Information on the left (which lists the purchase ID, order number, order date, etc.), there should be a link titled "Invoice". Click it. On the right hand side, it will show something called the "waybill" number. This is YOUR TRACKING NUMBER!

    Enter into Fedex and boom! Mine, at Fedex, just says "Picked Up", but it's not in transit (it's in Nashville just like the rep said).

    That's awesome that quite a few people have had theirs ship today!!! I'm envious! I'm also looking forward to hear everyone's impression of the new-found power! :)

    It's simultaneously infuriating that I am not one of those lucky few despite being one of the first to order. Honestly, it's just my luck. lol I really didn't expect to get mine in time and it'll take a miracle to get here before I leave on Thursday. *sigh* What's worse is that it is not like I have not tried...

    I honestly don't know. On weekdays, residences get delivered last because businesses close at like 6PM and homes are available after that.

    I think weekends are mostly residence deliveries, but it hasn't left Nashville yet and still has about 3 hours to go on I-65, lol...

    I ordered September 25th so yours, Rifter, should be right around the corner! :)

    My order hasnt changed since the day I put in the order. If they wait until the day before shipping to tell me their is a problem, they wont have to worry about reordering it for me. I still have 10 days before my unit supposedly ships so they should know something by then....Waiting on your Dell.

    True, but only if shipped via FEDEX HOME will you get it on a Saturday from Dell. FEDEX GROUND will not deliver on Saturday unless a special option (more costly) was chosen by the shipper (Saturday Delivery).

    More than likely, since you purchased from the Home & Home Office sector of Dell, it'll get delivered tomorrow via Fedex HOME.

    No, I selected the regular, free 3-5 Day. But I'm lucky because it was "boxed" and finished up in Nashville, TN and I'm only a few hours north in Richmond, KY. :)

    The delivery dates for Fedex are usually pretty decent, but I have gotten stuff earlier once, I think.

    Oh, really? Well, yeah, I did have it shipped FEDEX HOME, but I didn't do anything special: it's the regular 3-5 Day Shipping thing.

    Im loosing my hope now, as I checked my order status today and
    my order number could not be searched...I placed my order on 25th Sept,
    EDD was 10/26...and then 11/10...and now...GONE :confused:

    1 hour til the 7th and it is still in production. I'd rather see the delay or cancellation even. That way I'd know there was some kind of progress, as weird as that may sound. My work laptop is on it's last legs too. :(
