Huh...usually, the EDD gets changed a bit earlier than that if it's going to be delayed. IDK what's up with that. Call?

Yeah, im afraid that is going to happen to mine too...After the 17th they can really forget about it if they want to. I will be out of town and it will be sent back to them anyways

when mine was first cancelled, the new order didnt show up...when i called customer care angry about why my order was cancelled, the rep gave me the new order number, and next day shipping, free, and a week later, my xps is on its way much earlier than expected..
call dell and firmly ask questions.... -
To anyone who has had their order shipped: did you have your Wi-Fi card changed to the new number before it shipped or did anyone still have the old "bad" number?
I've still got the old number and an EDD of the 13th. Wondering what I should do... If you've called and had good results what number did you call and might you have an extension of a rep that knows what to do? -

What really bugs me is my EDD is 11/13, and people have 11/20 orders shipping out before mine does, mainly because Dell is taking their sweet time getting around to canceling my bad wifi card.

I almost forgot. I called today after work. The rep I spoke to was able to confirm that my order will be canceled, but he isn't able to do it prematurely. I have to wait for Dell to do it. -

Try calling them and ask for a supervisor.
What i tried to say is that they have the parts now and even if anybody's order is re submitted again, it will likely be built far before the new EDD as DELL used to over estimate the EDD.Attached Files:

My original EDD was 10/28, which was further delayed to 11/02, then was canceled and delayed to 11/19-11/23. That order I had to cancel personally and reorder because the knuckle head that canceled my order downgraded two of my parts(1080p WLED screen to some crappy low end resolution, and my GPU).
Edit: I noticed alot of people are waiting, or saying their rep's aren't doing anything. I ended up doing about 3 days worth of complaints back in late October after the mess started happening and was able to get ahold of a manager whom...while was still useless, provided more help than my rep did. -
yeah....that really sucks, you september folks have it the worst for some odd reason...why? No idea, and it aint fair to be honest.... -
I ordered my FIRST order on the 2nd of october. that order got canceled because of a DPA screw up. second order was on the 11th. Also messed up due to a DPA. my third order on the 22nd made it through finally, and we got my wife's XPS 1340, but it will take a fourth order to get my laptop.
for what its worth, the first and second orders were not messed up due to verification issues, they both times were processed wrong that resulted in the charge being rejected, not from me not verifying the account charge. -

Hello fellow Studio XPS laptop buyer's,
I am glad to see that some of you are about to receive your SXPS Laptops.
FYI, I just called the Order Status # and my SXPS Laptop has now moved from the Build Stage to the Box Stage, I guess that I should receive it this week.
Here is how it went for me:
1. Ordered on 10/25/09
2. Estimated Delivery Date: 11/16/09
3. Estimated Ship Date: 11/13/09
Even though the ESD is still 11/13/09, it looks like that it will ship sooner than 11/13/09. I do not think that it will take like a week to box this laptop.
Other than the wait time I had no issues with this order (no cancelations or product issues with any parts)
I hope that it goes well and gets better for the rest of you. I will keep you posted as to any date changes or when I receive it.
Hope that the information can be of help to sombody else with similar dates.

I am getting annoyed...I purchased mine on 3 October and it still says pre-production whatever that means with a delivery of 3 december after getting cancled twice. My debit card has been wither pinger or charged because it still states pending charge from Dell. Not sure if it will go through though. It just seems that people ordered theirs way after 3 October and have gotten theirs shipped. I never had this issue with HP before.

Woohoo, it finally updated. Got pushed back a week to an EDD of the 19th. Im not sure if that's good or bad. Still have the old wifi.

Mine also got pushed back (to the 16th) instead of getting cancelled and recreated with the correct item number. My guess is that at 30 days (I ordered on October 16th), the order would be cancelled as a result of the FTC guideline.
I'll be calling when Dell opens to speak with a supervisor and hopefully expedite this process... waiting another week just so the system can cancel my order seems pointless. -

If anybody is interested, Dell has fixed the SKU and descriptions on the XPS 1645 so that it now shows a gigabit 10/100/1000 network card instead of the 10/100 card. I thought the rep might have been just saying what I wanted to hear when he said he was sending the discrepancy to marketing so they would update it on the web site, but he actually did. I guess that is a good sign.

I placed my original SXPS 16 order on october 10th. My EDD was November 12th. Yesterday I found out Dell cencelled my order. I was unable to get any valuable information from customer care! They kept transferring me to voicemail or unvalid phone number. How long did it take until Dell actually replace the order?
My experience until now reminded me of that movie! You can enjoy while waiting for your XPS 16

My order will be a month old on Monday. Should I try being proactive and calling? Or just wait for it to be canceled? When can I start hissy-fitting?

I tracked down the e-mail of one of the managers of the EPP Executive Escalations team, and sent her the full history of my month's worth of hassel that I've had trying to get an order placed correctly and after all that having that Dell rep confirm that my laptop is going to be canceled and remade but that he can't do it I have to wait for my rep that made the order to do it or for dell to auto-cancel it. It was a good 2 page long letter with names of every single rep i've spoken with, the time and date of call, the dates of my orders and their order numbers along with when they were canceled, etc.
It'll be interesting to see if the Managers actually manage to help, ;-) -

Well I tried to call and have them update my order with the correct Wi-Fi card part number but I was "assured" *laughs that everything is fine with my order and there will be no problems with it shipping out on time. So, it seems anyone with the incorrect part number will have to wait and have their order canceled then recreated... with a further delay in receiving it.

This is weird, because I do have the bad wireless card and yesterday a notification regarding the FTC rule appeared. It said there I needed to agree that dell couldn't get in on time and that I consent that new shipping date will be on 11/6 which was yesterday. Confused a little bit about that, plus I didn't get my order cancelled like some other people.
I think they'll be pushing my order weekly until they finally get it right, :S. -

Im on the verge of canceling my order for good. I am in Iraq at the moment and have a difficult time contacting dell and after a nightmare of a conversation with a sales rep who could provide no information was told to call back on Tuesday. My order still says pre-production and he has nothing more to say other then that. They did charge my card though. Have no idea why sence their not shipping until 3 December.

I finally got in touch with someone who explained me the "situation". He said there was compatibility issues with bluetooth (which I don't have) and windows 7 (I had windows VISTA in my config). So Dell, cancelled my order without my permission and now it's up to me to reorder the laptop with a new EDD of november 30th... I really wanted to go with Dell, but at my local future shop I can get an HP DV7-3074 right now with almost the same configuration except:
6 Gig of RAM instead of 4
1 TB (2x 500 Gig 7200 RPM) instead of 256 SSD
NVidia GT 230M instead of ATI mobility Radeon HD4670
HP config is about 2000$ CAD with taxes and Dell is 2187 $ CAD
I didn't had 1080p screen in my original config (Dell canada doesn't offer WLED 1080p or 1080p RGB LED) with leather case which I couldn't change because of the online deal.
Anybody has any idea what I should do?

ordered 9/28, EDD 10/27
Delayed 10/27 to 11/4
Delayed 11/3 , resubmitted by Dell, new EDD 11/24 (with 430-0737 wifi card now), Automated phone call now says In Production, build phase
11/7 Automated phone now says in Boxing phase

I ordered on 9/26, order cancelled/changed on 10/30 and I am now in boxing stage according to the automated number. The online status page still says in production.

WOOOOO!! I got my tracking number... it was shipped today. The tracking number doesnt have info on it but my EDD still shows 11/30... I'm guessing I'll be getting it this week.
My Order was initially done 10/09 with original EDD of 11/12.
On 10/30 My order was cancelled/remade... new EDD of 11/30 (only change was WIFI part #).
Order was on hold as of 11/03 due to DPA not approving or calling me... I called in and the order processed and remained "In Production" until 11/05 where the status on the "My Orders"page changed to shipped but the part number page still said "In Production."
Today Order page changed to "Shipped"and they added a tracking number.

I ordered on 10/09 and just got delayed a week. Still have the bad wifi part. Called in again and gave them detailed description of the problem with the bad wifi part. They claimed they had no knowledge. I'm really annoyed. Who can I call to get this moving? I talked to the general customer service and called up the team I ordered with today.

i had my order cancelled yesterday(due to bad wi-fi part). Original EDD of 09-28. haven't gotten the new order #. I want to check the details on the new configuration. does anyone know how long does it take them to issue a new order #?

Had the good Wifi card from the beginning
No change on my order the entire time it has been ordered
Today the website is still showing "In Production"
Called the 800 number and it says its in the boxing stage
but the voice is saying the delivery date is still my original 11/17 although I have next day delivery. -

thanks, that's what I thought. I think that they have started delivery of 09-25, 09-26 orders, so hopefully now everyone else would start getting it. Good luck to all of you waiting. Looking forward to initial impressions/reviews/pictures from those who would get it by Monday.

Pooter3, I am in the same boat and the EPP department is apparently closed over the weekend. It's awesome that orders have finally started moving along, but admittedly it's frustrating to read about people who ordered after me already in the boxing stage.... While my order isn't even close because of the damn part number. Waiting isn't a problem if it's for an understandable reason (e.g. component backlog, etc), but knowing that my order is simply waiting around to be cancelled is idiotic.

On Monday, I may simply call up my sales guy, have him come to this thread, and try force him to cancel and place the order with an expedite. Somehow I don't think that'll work though. This is highly frustrating. -

I ordered on 11/2 and got an EDD of 11/24, I tried calling that number and it says its now in the boxing stage (was build stage a couple days ago). So it seems the EDD is totally made up or boxing takes a really long time.
