Perhaps there exists some kind of bios support for this LED keyboard in order to be activated. Who knows :S

Damn, it would be awesome to fit one and make it work properly on a m1330.

Perhaps a Studio user would be willing to sell their keyboard on ebay? XD

I checked with UK Dell Sales and was told that Studio 15 keyboard will be available next month and costs £129 :(

I don't think the bios lists compatible keyboards.

I never knew the M1330 keyboards were identical to the 15.4''. You'd think with the size difference...

You have a studio on the way?

I'm afraid I won't be buying the studio keyboard if this works. I just bought 2 Vostro keyboards for $25 (incl shipping!) on ebay.

But ... I may have my hands on a studio 15 next week ... for a day or two.

Nice photoshop! You know, if you photoshopped an image and put it in this thread once every week of the illuminated keyboard M1530, or even photos that are from even slightly different perspectives. I think you would be able to easily drive a couple of people nuts until someone with an M1530 actually gets a Studio keyboard in their hands.

I know this doesn't help those already with an XPS, but I sure hope Dell puts in a backlit keyboard on the new XPS....that'll make the decision that much easier (I assume that the XPS will have an LED screen, at least as an option)!

I have a Dell XPS m1530 and just ordered the Studio 15 backlit keyboard to see if this will work or not. If not, I'll just send it back, but....if it does I will post pictures (non-photoshopped)

This quote is not through Dell consumer channels, but through their enterprise reps.

    The quoted part is:
    Keyboard,86,US-INTL,ILSB (D794C) 1 $54.99 $54.99

Sounds cool. I don't care much for the backlit keyboard, I just like the look of the black keyboard in an m1530. The black keyboard makes the laptop look more complete, imo. It's just kind of odd how the black stops at the touch control area.

Can't wait to see how this goes. Keep us updated!

Even without the backlighting, the M1530 would look great with the black keyboard, especially in the Tuxedo Black finish.

Part number is D794C as I posted above.

I called up my enterprise rep at Dell and asked for a replacement Studio 15 backlit keyboard quote and this is what they sent me.

If all you want is a black keyboard, get the Vostro 1500 keyboard. It's the exact same thing, but in black.
