How did you update to A10 BIOS as it's not listed in Dell downloads?
-
How does a bios update effect the color of the display?
-
He has already stated what effect it has...
-
i got it from a Driver (DELL) CD.........the temp have also become a bit better (really)
(the palmrest is actually a bit cooler). played Bioshock in 1280 x 800 (high settings) before and i felt a difference. my friend works on DELL and he confirmed that A10 could probably draw the heat down a bit.

I am asking how a bios upgrade, any bios upgrade, can effect the screen display which has a fixed number of pixels and is driven by the video card. What could be done at the bios level to effect the screen display. -
What Dell Driver CD? -
KSMB: could you upload that bios update somewhere?
-
dont ask me. i just noticed a different. before with A08 i didnt have this red colour for example in Default. (i actually use stock settings now, sure, you can adjust a bit more to get even better result, but im very satisfied like it is) -
Gahhh... Heard many good news about this A10. When will Dell upload it to their website.
-
KSMB - can you post the A10 BIOS update file to www.mediafire.com when you get a minute.
ViperGTS - the GPU BIOS will be part of the main BIOS and so everything about the GPU can be changed with a new BIOS flash, including colour levels etc. -
Wow, someone sure changed their tune about the RGBLED screen...
-
KSMB can you post the BIOS somewhere please.

Tick...tick....tick...tick......
I'm still not understanding where you found this new bios..... -
I assume on the Dell driver DVD that came with the laptop.
I will be surprised if that is the case though as Dell rarely update those DVDs. -
no, you dont understand, i "got" a new Driver CD.....(like i said, my friend works on Dell)
-
Great well it should only take you a couple of minutes to post the small BIOS update EXE to www.mediafire.com so we can all share these updates?
-
One would think.
-
edit..
ive tried to copy the bios on my desktop, but its saying "corrupt files" or something. maybe i have to zip it first -
Just upload it directly from the DVD then.
-
yeah.. please give it to us!!!
-
Have you actually got this BIOS update or not?
I find it quite amazing that you are not able to upload a small 3 MB file to an online file sharing site. -
When Dell released the A08 BIOS, the changes were:
- Update Graphic card VBIOS and improve display quality and performance -
sorry im a pc noob, if you guys can tell me where to access the BIOS file ill upload it
-
Diablo I assume your laptop came with A10 pre-installed?
If so I'm not sure if it's possible to dump the BIOS - I'll have a look. -
Back after a few hours....and no bios yet.
Certainly strange..... -
-
The 4670 wasn't available in April, I think you read the date the wrong way round.
-
KSMB why have you not posted the BIOS yet, so all of us RGBLED users can benefit from these supposed enhancements?
-
Yes, please post the new BIOS.
-
He appears to be posting everywhere but here now.
-
i have not the driver CD here. im staying on our sommar hus (contry house).....can someone tell me how to upload BIOS from the PC......of course i help you guys if i can
-
OK, I don't think it is possible without the CD. Let's just wait
-
You can't.
-
Since Dell is already shipping systems with the new BIOS is only a matter of time until it shows up on their website. I hope sooner than later.
-
I have just received new 1640(2.8ghz hd4670 rgb)-it has the A10 bios.
soon as I switched it on and looked at a few photos realized how oversaturated colors were and pinky reds.so I don't think A10 is a fix.
have been looking at this forum(thread)hoping for solutions-tried reducing saturation, hue and adjust gamma/brightness/contrast all colors indepently, all kinds of combinations.
tried cedm's profiles(got them to work)I like the 46% one the best, red is good, and viewing angle.but this only seemed to change images in photo gallery, the rest of windows is unchanged, pictures in thumnails or as desktop background are as they were, paint is unaffected.
but in all cases yellow becomes a bit weak(I made blocks of primary and secondary colors in paint, and looked at that image and other photos in photo gallery, and photos I took of colored card)
so many questions
will icc profiles in windows 7 affect the whole of it?
is a profile possible like cedm's with a stronger yellow without changing the red or green?
is this a problem with rgb screens in general?
seems to me you need to be able to change the hue and saturation in ccc or somewhere of r/g/b idependently...mostly the red...if only that was possible
shame all this cos I like the rest of the machine, but I can't accept this color inaccuracy.....may have to send it back and think again..... -
silasibin read my earlier post which tells you how to apply the ICC to the whole OS in Windows 7:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5254110&postcount=137
Also reset CCC to default. -

KSMB
I thought you had posted that Dell changed your screen to 16" WLED 1080p screen from the RGBLED originally. Weren't you singing the praises of that screen a few weeks ago? -
yes i did. BUT what i didnt know, were that my first RGB screen was faulty......i really regret myself when i found that out.......
this new RGB screen is simply amazing (full working), i now understand how good it really is -
KSMB,
Having plenty of time to publish your new posts everywhere togehter with crispy pics, still not willing to share with us your amazing a10 bios file which were brought to you by a mysterious Dell rep???
Please stay straight with us and tell us wheather you had such a file indeed, or was it just a new lap already coming with an updated bios. And if you really had such a file (like 1640_a10.exe), please let us all know when exactly could you upload this file anywhere we would be able to get it from (supposing you are not staying all autumn long in your summer house - it's getting cold out there in the north). -
Try this just for fun.

Looks pretty good.... -
Hello everyone and thanks for such a great thread. I've just purchased the 1640 with the RGBLED screen (A10 bios also) and must say it is an absolute drean.
Thanks for the ICC Profiles (Now using Cedms with a very minor alteration to the ATI 4670 stauration setting and the screen bightness turned down 5 marks via the Fn and arrow function. When comparing my saved landscape photos to the professionally printed ones (from PEAK Imaging - without colour adjustments from Peak) I am delighted with the results... So thanks all cos ur info on this thread was vital.
However, I personally don't want Windows to be as colour accurate. I only wanted Photoshop CS4 and Vista picture viewer to be accurate. This is because for movie playback, I like the native bright and vibrant coulours, especially in games. So please bear this in mind when setting up your own systems. I simply apply Cedm's profile in Vista Coulour Management and CS4 picks this up fine.
Lovin it....
System:
Studio 16 XPS, 4Gig ram, 500gig 7200 H/Drive, RGBLED Screen, ATI 4670 1Gig Video Card -
By the way if you really want to show off your RGBLED screen download Zuma's Revenge! (Zuma 2) - the colours are just spectacular on this screen.
-
Cannot get the icc profile to install
tried to download and unpack it several times just in case I got a corrupt D/L but everytime I double click on it I get:
"The color profile "StudioXPS16_Native_Portable_lum40%_06-07-2009" Failed to install"
Win7 x64 ultimate on 1640 with 3670 A08 Bios.
