Yeah, I have Steam and scrolling with the trackpad doesn't work for me, either. Works just fine with the scroll wheel on an actual mouse. Sometimes on Steam I'll get it to scroll down a little bit at first, but then it always stops working after the first finger swipe on the trackpad.

Hey guys, I finally got my laptop !! :D :D :D Thank God. Its amazing. Just a few issues I have been having ... to do with browsing ... I really really really need help, its ruining my experience on this laptop.

Im experienceing issues with chrome because the font is very, err how do I say ... 'hazy' :( :( here, i'll show you pics comparing msn.com from IE (which im typing from) and Chrome.

Somehow it dint upload properly ... so the links are there ... from the links, the second one is chrome.

The unclear one is chrome. I tried everything, changing the font etc etc, restoring to default settings etc etc. what to do ?? using IE is horrible. horrible. horrible. Btw, by tomorrow i'll post my preliminary review here :D

Dude..... I think the Zalman and the Cryo is a better option than the Cooler Master Infinite..... Just bought the cooler master yesterday and to tell the truth.... The fan ain't that powerful.... Although @ 2000 rpm it is decent enough i don't think it can cool this beast when gaming.... A maximum of 2-5 degrees.... Will measure the temperature decrease and get back!!

The fonts in FIREFOX and CHROME will be very small compared to the one in IE as it has been customized for STUDIO XPS 1645 and hence you are able to view properly.

Press Ctrl + Mouse Scroll Up to maximize and Scroll DOWN to minimize and tell if that solves the issue.

Long time no see Forum... Wassup???

    Chrome for most normal/safe sites.

IE for sites I know will have spyware (IE has way more protection with Spywareblaster and Spybot S&D etc...)

I dont get it ... how are you guys using chrome ??? Okay, tell me this, what percent is your font ? like medium is 125% large is 150% ... in window, not chrome.

So dont things appear really really really tiny in chrome ?? and isn't it unfixable ? :( :( I just can't get the correct size for my browser. this is horrible.

Due to the way Chrome is programmed as a sandbox, it's still far more secure to use than IE, even with the Spybot S&D IE plugin and such. Just use regular Spybot as well as Microsoft Security Essentials and Chrome is far safer to use.

Yes - it is all fixed now - no more random wake ups - the worst was when it would wake up in my laptop bag!

but that is all taken care of now - and it's not really dell's fault - it's a windows 7 thing!

hope it works out for you.

    Hey all,

I just finished updating several drivers and now have lost the OSD for volume adjustments and am hoping to get some help re-activating it.

Essentially, the pop-up on all screens that aren't fullscreen programs showing volume adjustments when the touch volume buttons are pressed has disappeared.

    Thanks in advance!

My DVD drive can be pretty noisy when I'm installing software from it. Oh, and if there's disc in it when a virus scan starts it gets really loud. I don't know anyone else who lives near me that has the same type of computer so I can't really compare to anyone...

Hey everyone, at last I solved my browser issues, but now I have a new one. Whenever I play A flash Video in full screen mode, the flash player and shockwave thing crash, hanging my whole system and causing me to have to hard reset : ( : (

Also, miraculously, my system came with BIOS A08! Uptill now, no throttle issues + no major heat issues (at least none that affect performance) but I agree, if this thing was on my lap, im not sure if i'd still be a guy an hour later :/

admin tools --> schedule tasks -->> task scheduler library --> then go through each task that is there and check on "conditions" tab to see if it is set to "wake the computer to run this task".

    hope that helps!

    New problems with my 1645...

1)windows explorer becomes unresponsive every other time and it restarts itself for no reason......

2)During heavy usage like chess analysis if the computer goes into sleep mode.. after waking up the trackpad(touchpad) doesnt work....

3)the computer hangs at login at every alternate login and i have to hard shutdown it and restart again(hold the power butoon for 5-7 secs)...

any guesses to what the problem might be??? i keep updating my pc regularly with fresh drivers etc.,

    Hello guys :D
I'm liking my XPS, just another couple of things
    1) Does anyone's touchpad suddenly just teleport down to the task bar, while moving, with absolutely no reason ?
    2) Does anyone's comp freeze ? Mine has frozen TWICE while on Office 2010, i'm hoping its the office that's the problem.

Also, can the Indians here who ordered the laptop tell me if they got the leather finish with it please ?
    Thanks guys :D :D :D

I got the Slim adapter. When i asked the tech that I want the slim one, they had no idea that if it would be a slim one or brick one. They said this is the only adapter that is available and I am sending you that then I got a slim adapter. You can say one of the customers got a slim adapter and tell the part number JU012.

I have 0 freeze-ups on my system. I would recommend you a fresh windows re-installation.
No, I dint get the leather trim too.

I have been using my baby for a few days now and it seems to hang a lot. I am still not sure whats causing it. I called up Dell and they agreed to replace the adapter with a 130w for me but I reckon its not the adapter thats causing the problem as it happens even with it unplugged.

I hangs usually when I am shutting down or starting up and also when I move my cursor after a period of time of it being left idle. Does anyone have the same problem? It hangs bout 2-3 times per day. Thats prolly 8 hours of usage. Pretty sure its not overheating issues. No heavy load done.

Do you use office 2010 Beta ?

Everyone, is there a way I can choose my theme to be Windows Aero large or extra large or something like that ? Please I really need to know, I could do it on my vista !! Please reply ASAP. TY :D
