your screen size is same as mine (WXGA)
what is your screen brand? LG?
-
Hey everyone, don't want to make a new thread about this, so here's hoping someone will be able to help me in here.
I bought a beautiful M1530 back in March and I LOVE it. I want to upgrade the screen to 1440x900 as I need more screen real estate and I need I'd love to upgrade the CPU to a T8300-T9300. Problem is the CPU's in store are crazy expensive, and I can't seem to find replacement screens on ebay & such. Does Dell offer and sort of upgrade program? If so is it cheaper than retail?
I'd appreciate some help.
Thanks, -

Here you go:
To find out which LCD panel is installed in your M1530 do the following:
In Device Manager expand Monitors and double-click on Generic PnP Monitor. Click on the Details Tab and change the Property box to Hardware Ids.
(This info was located on the very first page of this awesome *stickied* thread)...
And, once you find the name of it, go to #1 on Page 1...within this thread, and you will be able to find out what brand you have
Hope that helps!

Good idea. The issue I can see with this is getting quality pictures that are meaningfull. There's lots of picture of the M1530 screen out there but when put side by side they don't really give a good feel for the difference in resolution. This would work if someone had access to multiple M1530 with different resolutions and could take pictures using a standard set of parameters.
Until we have such pictures I can post links to the wiki charts on screen resolutions. -
Thanks! And so understand on the quality pics..it was just a thought that I had, and I was like..yeah maybe..run it thru Rhodan!..
The wiki charts sound good for now!
Cin -
Cin, all i get when i check the hardware ID (and ive tried many times lol) is MONITOR\Default_Monitor
-
Go here to this link..enter your service tag number (located on the bottom of your lappy) and it will give you your system config!

Cin, I have a red m1530 on order and I have a 3-year onsite warranty. Will I get an extra one year warranty for the GPU?
-
Though you have to be a bit patient, since the official details haven't been out yet. -

Look's like FK..answered the question you asked........
But anyways..I also have the red 1530, and 3 years on-site w/the same situation..so I'm not too worried, nor should you be! You have an awesome lappy on it's way to you, for sure!

With the accessories you may or may not get them....I hate to say this, but it looks like most peep's as of late haven't been getting them
But, some peep's have been receiving them...Maybe, not all of the accessories..but a few items
At the beginning of this thread ~Rhodan's fantastic thread~ under question number 18..it talks about the accessories for the 1530
Here: (I made it easy for yah)
The Dell XPS Accessories thread contains some good information on what to expect if you are missing accessories:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=276220
My *fingers are crossed* that you do receive some, or even better all of the accessoriesBut, better that you get your new lappy...and it's what you expected that is the most important!
Cin -
Thanks to both of you (Cin and FK) for your help!
-
Now its just waiting for that Sleek Red lappy to arrive for yah!

There were no accessories other than the remote and also i have noticed that there is some exta HD noise.........too much clicking under normal web surfing...... other than that it is a beauty. I'm really glad you are liking it thus far:
For the screen here is the info copied from page one of this ~ Rhodan's awesome thread:

(If, I'm wrong on that I'm sure it will be pointed out)!
Let me know how it works...and enjoy that lappy of yours!
Cin -
Cin, I will try these things and thanks for your time. Is there any thing called windows red edition?? which is supposed to come with the system? Why is mine missing those things?? and the dell website tells me that my display is lg philips but installed one is optronics
-
Btw, congrats on ur laptop. Enjoy it.
Meanwhile,

I guess the windows vista product red thing comes only with the ultimate (windows vista ultimate product red) and not the home premium version (at least thats what I understood from reading around, not sure though)... but you must be able to get in the wallpapers n themes and customizations in some way... As in, u could probably download them and customize as you want.. the dell drivers n downloads section has some product red downloads, if I remember well.... I don't have the product red.. may be some other user who knows about the tech details of product red can clarify it for us, better..
Good luck and enjoy your system. Cheers. -

It's just a bunch of wallpapers, widgets, and an annoying Product Red ad whenever IE is launched (can be disabled). -
umm, i know this maybe a stupid question, but what is nits? and is a higher nit better?

hi, i'm thinking of ordering my xps 1530 tonight, just wondering-how long are the delivery times to the UK (london), also- has anyone had any experience dual booting vista (or xp) with any linux/ubuntu os? are there any problems with the drivers etc?
also, do you think it would be worth waiting until the beginning of next month to see if there are any offers up for the xps? -
Please DO NOT double post!! Thanks -
Hi W1266
Ive just recieved my m1530 today in the UK it came 6 days early from their estimated delivery time which was 30th of this month, ordered a just over a week ago too.
Check the coupons page on this site for uk ones, its a shame they just stopped their 7days of deal's i got over £200 off my xps another reason im so happy
Fonduekids link is great i just used that to dual boot vista / xp and its working perfectly.
Vanna -
It's a great lappy, and you shall surely enjoy! 6 days early to boot....which happens quite often (Dell over-estimates the ESD)
Oh, and welcome to the XPS family!
Cin -
Thanks Cin
"hug"
im over ther moon and im sure people will be sick of reading me saying that in every thread i post but i just am, its a lovely lappy and much more mobile that i thought so too, im very slender and i cant see me having any trouble carrying this around.
Heading to London saturday to give it the ultimate shopping and starbucks test -
Most everyone get's along just fine here!
Were here to support & help, not be negative!
You will enjoy the 1530 when your out-and-about..and it's the greatest companion at places such as Starbucks!
Have fun on your travels to London Saturday!
Cin -
Starbucks is annoying as the only Wi-Fi hotspot they offer in the UK is T-Mobile
lol, no o2 hardly anywhere lol.
XPS is a great lappy anyway, sleek, stylish and lightweight. -
Yes, the XPS is a simply awesome lappy!Love it!

Any fix in sight? these threads are a bit dead... -
M1530 is a sweet laptop. The only problem I got is the heat problem. The fan won't run until my gpu get up to 70 oC it make the whole lap hot! and there are no fan control software for XPS1530 I think...

What sleeve do y'all use with the m1530 and the 9cell battery?

Just need to make sure I have everything ready as I want to do a XP / Vista 64bit (Ultimate) dual boot system..!
-
I left Vista on mine, as my desktop still has it
I really am quite used to Vista now, anyways!
When is your Estimated Shipping Date?
Cin -
Not sure at the moment, sent the order number to my Dell account manager, he said he would add 3 years warranty and some other bits free of charge once I had decided what to go for...we buy a fair bit of Dell hardware for work so I asked him to help me out once I had ordered!
Hoping it will be here this week, that's a big hope though -
Aaah, freebies are always a good thing!
Hope it delivered to you this week, also! The waiting....is hard...yeah!
Cin -
Can someone recommend me the best place for Vista 64bit drivers for the XPS? I take it most are on the Dell website but as I'd like to overclock my 8600GT when I get it I may need rivatuner and other bits??
-
