but it appears to be the sam version as http://www.dell.com/support/drivers...?driverId=PPC89&osCode=W864&fileId=3095260699 for the l322x but is 1mb larger -
The reason I went with the Dell is because I can upgrade the RAM to 8GB whereas on the Surface it's locked to 4GB's only, Also wanted something with a dedicated keyboard, and The one thing that the surface beats the dell is the digitizer touchscreen which means pen input.

i'm not sure but with the new cypress driver, i think my touch pad is more responsive than before. wait and see if the bug is still there
-
Hi, it is maybe a noob question but , is it normal that in the bios, it is written 1333mhz for the ram? and not 1600 mhz
-
So how are those new touchpad drivers treating everyone? Any improvements?

Okay so I've decided to start a computer company... We won't stock the computers that we sell, we'll make them to order overseas. Oh, and there will be no need to stock the componets needed to actually build the computers either, we'll buy and stock as little of those items as possible as well. When people call to because it takes 3-4 weeks (maybe longer) to get the machine, we'll offer to give them a $75 credit to string them along... Our call centers will all be located in India where we can bounce our customer from department to department and create as much work for people in India as possible becuase our customer service overhead is low and our cusomers love bull.
This is a business model that will win repeat business and flourish. When my XPS12 shows up I'm refusing the package. Dell sucks. -
Yay! I got an email today letting me know my order was DELAYED!!!
Dear Customer,
We wanted to let you know that there is a delay with one or more items in your order.
Based on the latest available information, we have adjusted your Estimated Delivery Date and your order is now projected to reach you on or before 12/21/2012
We are sorry for the delay and appreciate your patience.
This is the nail in the coffin. Today I will be calling INDIA and cancelling my order. I will also be sending back the accessories which did arrive in a timely fashion. If you own stock in Dell: Sell it off! A company that does business like this will not be around long!!! (Unless the US govt bails them out to save jobs in India) SCREW DELL. -
Sorry for blowing this forum up, but I wanted to let you guys know that are willing to wait for weeks on end that if you call and threaten to cancel the order they will offer you $75 not to cancel. Unfortunately, I am not willing to wait indefinately, and Dell refused to ship my XPS12 overnight so I will not be a XPS12 owner. Thus this will be my last post on this forum.

LOL talk about OTT.
-
-
It tells you on the site the ETA. Don't order if you don't want to wait. Go to bestbuy instead.
-
Yes all orders show a EDD, however I believe the OTT guy had his order delayed and the EDD moved back.
What I'm confused about is XPS 12 convertible 12" touch Ultrabook where it shows the exact same model I ordered as being Fast Dispatch item available in 2-3 days. Might be a glitch but I'll be mighty pissed if it turns out it's not and I have to wait a month until I receive mine while a new customer can get theirs in 2 or 3 days.
Anyway, sent a eMail to Dell about it, see what they say, best case my order gets bumped up and I get it in a few days, worse case is it shows Dell as moneygrabbing humbugs who know diddly squat about customer service. -
My EDD is the 13th of december. That's tomorrow, but the status is still "work in progress". The laptop isn't even in production yet.. That's something I can get mad about too. I'm waiting from the 10th of november now and it is probably delayed.
The biggest issue on this is that Dell told me the delivery time was about 10-15 work days..So I ordered it on time, so I knew for sure I had the laptop before my holiday (family abroad, december 20th). My person at Dell sent me an email that the delivery time is a MINIMUM of 30 work days right now!!! Thinking about cancelling too...
They know it for weeks now that they have troubles with some components, but my date is still december 13th... Probably will change today or tomorrow and be delayed. -
I spoke to Dell support omn 4th December and was told that there was an unspecified parts shortage and my EDD had been revised to 3 January.
I had an email from Dell support on 6th saying there was still a part shortage and the revised EDD remained at 3 January.
As its now the 14th and it's still in pre-production I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully I'll get it some time in January. -
How easy or difficult is it to open the XPS 12 and change the SSD or the RAM?
-
Could someone please tell me how to rotate the screen in 'stand-mode'. All the videos show it the right way round but when I flip, the screen is ,and stays, upside down. It will rotate 90 degrees but I obviously need it to rotate 180!!
Thanks.
PS - Feel for you guys who are waiting. I got lucky. -
Itsnotlikethat Notebook Consultant
Your screen must be on rotate lock on the side. Need to switch it off.
-
Well, when I ordered mine the estimated ship date was today, last week I tweeted DellCares and they said it was in production even though their site still says pre-production. I asked them today if it was going to still ship today and they said "Doesn't look like it will ship today. We'll keep close eye on it & keep you posted. Thanks for your patience."
I am trying to be patient, but I have no laptop at the moment, so it's kind of hard, I know, first world problem. -
-
Ordered Nov 8th, EDD was December 6th. -
-

-
It should have a Intel chipset in it, which means ctrl + Alt + Left arrow (or up or down or right) will manually rotate the screen to whatever orientation you want.
You should also be able to change It from the Control Pannel, Intel Graphics and Media and then Rotation, But the shortcuts should work.
I see nerdydad linked to what I discussed the 2-3 days and so far no response from Dell. -
Don't want to give anyone false hope, but I'm waiting for i7 with 256GB SSD, ordered on 7th November, original delivery estimate 3rd December, after that failed spoke to @dellcares on twitter, and they said estimated delivery was 27th December (was still pre-production), it then moved to production on the 8th December, so tweeted them again and they updated the delivery estimate to 28th December. Wasn't too happy, but didn't complain - after a day in production it moved to shipped and have a UPS tracking code, its currently somewhere in Poland (delivery to UK), and expecting delivery tomorrow, fingers crossed
-
I'll tell you how to get right orientation any way you want.
-Go into Tablet mode and with Autorotate on, orient it in the position you want, then turn the Autorotate off.
-When you flip from Ultrabook to Tablet mode, it'll ALWAYS go to that mode. The thing is, no matter whether the Autorotate is on or off, in Ultrabook mode with the screen fully clicked, it'll always turn to the rightside up position so you don't have to worry about it when reverting back to Ultrabook mode.
For me, I have it set up so whether I am looking at it keyboard side or the opposite with screen flipped its not inverted. -
I think it's Tent mode actually.
-
Mine is delayed too... Just received an email about it.
I ordered it on 15 November (core i5, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd), the new date is 18 January... damn.. -
I just checked and the ship date in the US is about 2 1/2 weeks. UK is about 4 weeks. Australia is about 5 weeks. So it really depends on where you are. That was for the least expensive configuration.
-
Re: standard mode is tent mode
LOL That's funny. My wife loves hers, a miracle in itself. 4th try on a portable. I showed her tent mode and she gasped, "that pretty useless". She conceded it was ok to watch a movie in bed, maybe. -
Well I got a eMail back from Dell via their App thingy, and yes as we all know it's a parts shortage, and as far as the Ships Fast (2-3 days) those items despite the logo and wording are excluded from ships fast if it's a parts shortage. Sorts of like shooting yourself in the foot if you put that as a Ships Fast system but say that it's excluded because of parts shortage...
I still have received no email yet and my EDD is still the 20th. Boydd when did you order yours? I ordered it on the 26th (UK) -
Good grief. It's just gone into Production!
