Thanks.
I've calibrated it using a spyder 5 and a i1display pro with 7500K white. I prefer working with < 120cdm2 monitors.
Now colors seem to be better than before, in comparision with my old IPS-panel Dell ultrasharp.

Ok, I always used the "warmer" default of 6500k, so that would make total sense. Nice to hear that you're happy with the result now!
I still haven't found the component that does the brightness change.
Even after downgrading to 8.1 again, the actual brightness doesn't change. So another try for 10 then, there has to be a solution for this.

I'm using an external 6500k Dell monitor, but I found this temp is not suitable for my laptop because colors, especially blue were more wrong.
Have you ever tried to refresh or clean installed windows? If this didn't make sense, maybe you would check the bios settings or contact Dell support. -
Refresh sounds like a good idea. I'll see how the second upgrade goes and then I'll try that.

Well, I got it to work. Finally!
I only did the upgrade a second time, after that it still didn't work. Then I uninstalled the graphics driver. It still didn't work. Then I used DDU to clean the drivers that were installed.
After that, without a fresh install of anything else, it worked. Windows Update had a working driver and the least I'll do now is to set a restore point right hereNothing like a good working backup!
PS: I just double-checked and found that as soon as there's some driver installed, a "real" Intel driver, the brightness control will no longer work.
As long as it says "generic VGA adapter" or something, the brightness control will work flawlessly. This surely can't be right.Last edited: Sep 12, 2015 -
Congrats!
I had a problem with the color profiles few days ago. When I re-plugged in the hdmi cable or just restarted my computer, all color settings disappeared. I had tried to set default settings but this didn't work. I found that this was caused by the Intel Common User Interface - igfxtray.exe (windows 10) but I couldn't find any ways to disable this file from startup. Firstly, I moved this file to another backup folder, it had a error message. Then, after I added the file to the original folder, no message appeared and the ICUI now doesn't automatically start when I turn on my computer. The color settings work perfectly.
Hope this makes sense to anyone having the same problem.
