    Thanks
I have updated it says the drive date is 13-Aug-17 and version 22.20.16.4771. Is that correct. It's newer than the dell ones, but isn't the same as what you listed, which confuses me a bit. I am still struggling with laggin display performance

I stuck with 15.45.19.4678 as 4771 caused driver crashes.

Can you describe your issue in more detail?

I wasn't sure why the starting numbers were different? I assume the 4771 means it's the latest one.
It's not crashing at the moment. It's just very stuttery, particularly when dragging things or opening windows. It can be really slow or sometimes jolty.

@cloud023 Thanks for this excellent guide.

    * Good tip with the Samsung 2.2 drivers; they improve latency performance a lot for my PM961.

    * I used a M$ ISO with rufus (UEFI, legacy disabled, secure boot, AHCI) from nbr Win 10 thread and some of the @GoNz0 posts for general tips. USB3 thumb drives are a bit wonky with the 9550 and 9560 so needed to try rufus a few times.

    * Also, immediately after the desktop shows up on clean install, I kill NTFS compression as that might provide a bit better response for ultra low latency tasks:

    fsutil behavior set disablecompression 1 {enter} {reboot IMMEDTATELY}

I thought compression was off by default?
From what I have just googled all this does is prevent you from using it on a drive or folder or is there more to it?

    Ha!

There was a recent nbr thread regarding that fsutil compression; conclusion was unnecessary for general users with W10. I have the original links in my notes but the fsutil recommendation was duly edited out.

As I am aiming for ultra-low latency, killing the compression may still prevent a few interruptions. Regardless, I will edit my post above as the step will not benefit regular users.

Thanks GoNz0 for keeping us on our toes. . .

Can someone with the Dell install version of the 8216 Realtek drivers let me know if the microphone is working in stereo or mono? In other words does the microphone to the left of the trackpad come through on the left channel, and vice versa? I've had trouble in the past getting Windows to rollback my Realtek drivers and install the older version that has working stereo microphones.

Using the recording app inside Maxxaudio, the recording is indeed stereo. I tested by covering up the left and right mics separately and blowing on the other. Listening to the play back, the left and right are distinctly seperated.

OK, I finally figured out the actual source for the erroneous mono mic output. It wasn't the driver at all. In the MAXX program under the voice tab, if I have that section enabled, the microphone switches to mono. The reason an older driver worked as well was that it didn't work with MAXX so that section was always disabled.

I've just updated this post, probably the biggest update since its creation. Due to the release of XPS 13 9360 w/ 8th gen processors, a ton of new drivers have been released. Full details in the change log.

For Nvidia, they have since released another hotfix, but the specific issues apply only to those using G-SYNC monitors or alienware laptops with 9xx series GPUs. For the Killer Wifi, their new control center still uses the same driver components.

Hey guys, I tried downloading the Intel 630 but got an error saying the driver is not validated for my 9560. Any idea why?

    [Edit]
Nvm apparently someone had the issue. Shall try the workaround when I have the time.

I don't know but you can right click it and copy so you can paste straight into google (or here)
I'm not going to try and guess it using my phone so a copy and paste is better than a picture.

Yep, gone through everything on page 1 again and obviously checked Windows updates. It's only since Windows 10 fall update. Ah well might just be one of those things. Probably need a format anyway.

Maybe someone will know here, is there anyway to stop windows update from installing device drivers on it's own with the latest creators update? Turning it off in device installation settings of system doesn't do it. The old registry hack doesn't work. Running the wushowhide.diagcab doesn't disable it. I'm really starting to get pissed off.

*on edit* O&O shutup 10 finally seems to have done the trick coupled with the new DDU that came out today...

Yeah that was going to be my next move. Seems silly that the old options no longer work (especially the built in one that was designed to turn off driver updates within windows, lol).

I'm using the same one but you probably need to clean the driver out with DDU then install it again.
Also windows will replace it if you don't prevent it doing it.

Spoke too soon. Still happening. Used group policy to disable driver updates as well and did the DDU cleanup + 4815 install again. Still getting stuck.

This definitely needs to be checked. For me on FCU, the group policy editor has not been able to prevent Windows Update from installing drivers. The only thing that worked has been driver roll back.

Shouldn't be surprising as it is used in business to stop windows fekking up a working OS.

You will kick yourself in a few months when you wonder why the hell it won't update the driver when you try, I did :D

You can use the update troubleshooter to block that update keep trying (and failing) to install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...t-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-window (you don't get the chance to block the update before the bloody thing installs again hence needing to use group policy 1st)

Samsung released NVMe driver 2.3 last week
Supports encrypted drive, I doubt it supports bitlocker, maybe my phantom SSD firmware notification this morning means a new firmwares out soon for the 960 evo.

I've updated the post w/ Samsung drivers. Haven't touched the Nvidia driver for now, since there are widespread reports of microstutter with the 388.xx series of drivers.

Apparently the 388.13 Nvidia drivers have fixed the stutter to some degree, and the newest Killer drivers (deselect control center!) are saying decreased DPC latency
