Expirienced similar issue not related to Nvidia inspector..
When made processor undervolt by -150mV switching from AC to DC sometimes cause BSOD or just hang. Same when run Unigine Heaven test for a while. Everything is fine under load but as soon as it stop - it also BSOD. Went to -130mV - problem gone. Finally I went to -125mV - to be completely sure problem wont appear again.
After all these results its obvious that transition from higher FID/VID to lowest (while processor is still hot) can cause drop voltage even further (that's due to nature of conductors - higher temperature = higher resistance). So guys - keep in mind this. It might worth it to run 5 times prime95 for about 1 minute just to test how well processor transition from high FID/VID to lowest one

Does anyone have any experience with extending the warranty of their XPS system after purchase? I can see now that there are a number of "deals" on the UK website for this (such as 2 years for £1), however were not available when I purchased. I've finally ended up with a "good" XPS 9560 system (hardly any coil whine, samsung ssd etc) so reluctant to return just to repurchase.
Speaking with Dell, it seems that the "upgrade" costs are extortionately higher than purchasing new (see below) and they "don't offer deals" on warranty extensions. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or if there is a trick here? My system is just out of the return period (due to fun and games with support).
Costs (after purchase)
+1 year Premium Support with Onsite - £206.80
+2 years Premium Support with Onsite - £330.88
+3 years Premium Support with Onsite - £413.60
Costs (buying new)
2Yr Premium Support with Onsite - £1
3Yr Premium Support with Onsite - £172.68
4Yr Premium Support with Onsite - £255.39 -
You should have bought with the laptop and no way around it i'm afraid.
You could try phoning and saying whatever problem has returned and you want a refund then purchase again or just try your luck and go to the resolutions team to see i they will sort the warranty for the same price as purchasing with the laptop quoting you have lost confidence.
Failing the above threaten a chargeback as you are unhappy with it and the run around you have had to see how far they will back down.
I got a full refund after 3 years and 2 upgrades during that time so anything is possible. -
Bugger, oh well. I'll give them a call later but I think it's unlikely they will budge based on conversations so far.

On my previous order it was delivered a day after plan committed. -

I just received my new i7, UHD, 16gb, 512gb 9560 today and 3rd time is a charm!! So far this unit is perfect!! I even won the hard drive lottery and got the Samsung (3023 read 1630 write) even though the support site showed the Toshiba firmware update. My only issue right now is I got the noisy power supply model instead of the quite one.
Quite one is DA130PM130
Noisy one is HA130PM130Last edited: Mar 28, 2017 -

UNDERVOLT WARNING TO 9560 USERS -
I have seen several cases of computers freezing or BSOD this week. Many of them seem related to excessive undervolting.
The new Kaby Lake processors are overclocked by Intel. Thus, the undervolting potential is significantly lower than Skylake processers'.
Each chip is different so finding a stable undervolt involves trial and error. As Intel has been producing this basic chip for a long time, I suspect chip variance is now quite low.
Based on posts here it seems undervolts exceeding approx -120mv are entering problematic territory for many XPS Kaby Lake users. Starting at a conservative figure like -100mv might make sense.
You will see 9550 Skylake chips were slower but could be undervolted to -170mv; that is not relevant to 9560 owners.
Very long tests like Prime95 and gaming sessions can be used for stability testing as noted below in the excellent article below by nbr member Eason. Also some noted changing to and from battery power was crashing their computers and may be related to undervolts:

Particularly for the 9550, there were plenty of posts noting older power bricks caused coil whine sound in the laptop (a brick older than the DA130PM130 but can't remember p/n) and that noise was resolved by the "newer" DA130PM130.
Interestingly the DA130PM130 is quiet on my 5x whr battery 9550. I have very little coil whine on the laptop. -

Looks like my 9560 is set to be delivered today, I'll have to see what temps look like in stock form...
-
Then do the same after undervolt & again after repaste -

Just got my laptop and so far so good except for the power supply. They sent me a la130pm121, which is much bigger than the one from my 9550... Wtf is up with dell randomly picking power supplies...
*on edit* also they didn't give me one with a finger print reader, lmao... -
Oh well that and lack of fingerprint reader means a new build -

I was stoked to try it out today since I have the day off. Now I get to waste time talking to dell.pressing likes this. -

If they don't understand you aren't left with much choice. Returning it is the best choice in my opinion. It will cost them more than just replacing it and you show them that they can't just ignore you or try to talk you through keeping it. Unless they offer a significant refund and you are willing to keep it -

I just ordered my 4k 512GB XPS and received the order summary via email. Under "drivers" it only says "drivers for the killer1535 wireless card", does that mean I have the Samsung SSD or do I have to wait until it has shipped to find out which SSD I have?

A little update to my issue with some extra detail that I don't think I provided before.
I had order this system as a refurb (just like numerous 9550s in the past). After talking to dell fro the past hour they have agreed to exchange the system (sending me the specs of a replacement) or a $100 back. I'm going to see what system they try to replace it with before I make any decision. $100 back with my American Express $75 and ebates $100 makes this system a good deal, so I'm not sure which I'll take yet.
They haven't talked to me about the adapter yet, but I'm going to have them send me a new one if I don't get a system exchange.
What a pain...... -

Do you guys know if the power chord is the same as on the l702x as the 9560? I don't mean the power adapter and wire that plugs into the computer but simply the chord that goes from the outlet to the adapter.

Outlet: 3-prong.
Power: 130 W.
DC output: 19.5V ~ 6.7A.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 28, 2017 -
looks like my 9560 in UHD/1Tb/32gb ram configuration which I ordered three days ago has been shipped and unfortunately its coming with the XG4 Toshiba SSD. I'm going to try kick up a fuss with Dell when I get it to see if I can get it swapped to the Samsung or some compensation. My main use for this laptop will be photo and video editing so every performance gain should help.
Reading some threads on reddit, it would seem there's a driver/bios setting that can be changed that will drastically improve the XG4s performance though not to the same levels as the samsung. From what I understand, it involves switching the hd controller from RAID configuration in the bios to AHCI and installing the OCZ RD400 driver.
Searching this thread I think it has been briefly mentioned so I'm wondering if its been widely implemented here and are the results any good? -
-
Gonzo, not sure I fully understand and if I should configure the Toshiba to AHCI or not.
On the 9550 clean install thread which I briefly searched through, one of your response what that you think if configured to AHCI then the toshiba will BSOD? or is that strictly for non-ssd only set ups? -
Intel video driver update is a must. Mine came with the horrible pausing issues in chrome. It would lock up for literally 30 seconds at a time....not allowing inputs on webpages. It was painful. I went to Intel's webpage and downloaded the latest video drivers. As has been mentioned the executable doesn't work to install the drivers. You need to replace them manually. It has been a while since I went into device manager and opened up the properties of something to update the drivers so it took a few tries to get that right but now it is running very smooth on driver version 4627.

Would some 9560 owner kind enough to test the 1050+7700 in heroes of the storm ultra settings (free game) What fps and what temps the laptop get? im debating between the 15 and 13, i mainly use it for work, but occasionly i would play on it (only game i play for years is hots). If it can run it well enough, thats a + for the 15... TY

on my 3rd FHD screen now. This one is worse than the other. I told the tech to get me an upgrade or I'm returning this pile of **** and buying Apple. I will run windows on a macbook, watch me.

Just received my new XPS 15 9560, UHD, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, with fingerprint reader.
Screen seems okay. There is a very mild coil whine and came with Toshiba. I will have to test it properly this weekend to make a decision. I also got the noisy power brick.pressing likes this. -
