Any way to get the 20% discount code people at companies can get as an individual? What is the max reported discounts so far offered?

Well I received my new XPS 15 FHD and it has a messed up pixel.....It has a bright white spot on a light or coloured background, but it goes away on a black background. I have read all the ghosting comments on the 9550 and was hoping it was either better on this 9560 or that it wouldn't bother me. I can tell you that it is not better on the 9560 and it really does bother me.....I will be sending mine back this week which is a pity because I got an amazing deal on it.

Does anyone know if the XPS 9560 supports USB-C charging? I mean actually charging the laptop itself via the USB-C port instead of the regular power port.
It would be great if I can use something like this to charge the laptop.
https://www.amazon.com/Targus-Type-...86265080&sr=8-3&keywords=usb-c+laptop+charger
I am pretty sure the this can be done on the XPS 13.

I just saw Dell new 13.3 AW, it is actually cheaper than 9560 while offering better performance and true TB3.0 uplink!
Sure i lose the 15" 4K touch screen, but the 13" size means the added casing bulk of AW is portable too.
I do love 9560 went with a 97whr battery, thats a nice upgrade.
I wonder if 9550 can use that battery. -

I've read and got a suggestion from a support person that entering a member ID (which a very large % of people qualify for) can lead to significantly larger discounts. How do you apply this discount? I went through the member ID page only to see the same price.Last edited: Feb 5, 2017 -

If not available, it presumably proposes 4.5W @ 5V 0.9A, which might allow for slight emergency battery-life extension with a powerbank, if it really works. -
If you find one you better let us know... I can get like 16% off with all my discounts but that's the best ive seen -

I am still curious about best available discounts people are finding right now but do also want to ask if it is common to have frequent WIFI disconnects like is being discussed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/5s5177/initial_xps_9560_fhd_impressions_my_connection/ ?
Also, how did you get to 16% off? The best I see is the 10% off plus 2% off with member log in. What else is there?Last edited: Feb 5, 2017 -
Some other things I have noticed about this computer is the power supply is noisy while charging and when playing Titanfall 2 on it I noticed CPU temps of 92-95 deg C and the GPU reached 80 deg C. I then set my max CPU usage to 99% in power settings and that brought down the temps to 83-87 deg C on the CPU and 79 deg C on the GPU.
All this being said I will call tomorrow and ask for a free upgrade to a 4k model and if they bite on that I will take one, but otherwise I am going to send this unit back and look at something different for my needs. -
I've had my XPS 9560 for around a week now, but I've been having some subtle issues with the keyboard which I'd like to get some feedback from others about before I take the issue up with Dell.
At first, I thought that I was just getting used to the keyboard and missing some of the keys whilst typing, but after a week I started noticing some patterns and now I've narrowed down the cause.
Essentially, the problem occurs if I do not hit the keys exactly in the centre of key. Pressing either the edge or, more commonly, the corner will depress the key a significant amount, but apparently not enough to register as a key press.
I've put a short video together demonstrating the issues:
(Please ignore the meowing noises in the background. Tux is a very vocal cat)
I'm certain it's not a software issue as this has been happening across multiple Linux installs and whilst using Windows. Is this normal behaviour and something others are able to replicate? It's killing the typing experience for me on what is otherwise a very nice to use keyboard.
Edit: a better video showing demonstrating the issue:Last edited: Feb 6, 2017Eason, huntnyc and FluffyDroid like this. -
I did not use the keyboard long, but I did notice myself missing a few keystrokes. At the time I was not sure if it was me or the laptop, but after seeing your post I am now thinking it was likely the laptop....This really sucks because I love my XPS 13, but wanted a larger screen and more power and the XPS 15 looked like the perfect machine.

As always, very positive reviews but I can't make sense of how so many people have such glaring problems out of the box. Can't someone at Dell just turn on and do a very quick test of computers before they ship to make sure the usual suspect problems are not there? Wouldn't that save them a lot of money and trouble?Last edited: Feb 6, 2017 -
woohoo! about time notebookcheck! Looks like an awesome review going up! Cant wait to see what hte game benchmarks turn up! CPU scores look pretty impressive over Sky Lake... Definitely looking forward to this! Presidents day sales....hmmm

I would therefore be cautious about trying to run the XPS15 off a USB-C source unless it has a high output, but 60W should be more than adequate for charging the battery with the computer turned off (the Dell 45W USB-C PSU may be enough for this).
I would also add that the standard Dell 90W PSU (with the 7.4mm to 4.5mm plug adapter) is more than enough to power the XPS15 and charge the battery if the dGPU isn't being used. I've even run my Precision 5510 on the Dell 65W PSU to confirm that it works. The advantage of using this method is that the computer can read the PSU battery and will restrict the power drain by reducing the battery charge rate.

"The Dell XPS 15 9550 Laptop then requests 5 volts @ .9 amps from the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter which isn't really enough to power the computer."
http://gtrusted.com/review/66314
However, it is not clear if the requested charging at 5V .9A actually takes place, or this is a misunderstanding of some sort. It isn't really enough to power the computer, but could be useful for battery extension. Or charging the battery in a day or so, if it would work with the computer off. -

Here's the one I use (it's actually only 60w)

5v 2A would work though right?

If you can't budget for the proper power bank when buying get a model down to factor it in if you really need one

Hello there, received my xps one week ago and I have two questions..
What about "dell" power option? I found this option on the battery options menu. Is it somehow adaptable? I mean does it give full power if plugged in and good compromise (like balance) if unplugged?
And a bonus question, not so inherent.. I have bought Microsoft wireless adapter v2 which works fine, no lag when streaming Netflix or YouTube from pc but I found it a bit laggy with vlc.. Anyone? Is it player related? -
Got my xps today. Does anyone know if you can put a 9.5mm non-ssd hard drive in the hdd bay? A guy in the 9550 thread apparently just slapped it in, but I'd like a second opinion
-
Does anyone know, if I can repaste 9560 with liquid metal? AFAIK the heat think should be made from any material other than alumnium. Can anybody confirm which metal Dell uses for their 9550\9560 laptops, and if it is possible to use LM for repaste?

Well my refund arrived last night, best I could do was 10% off but fair enough. Order placed for the 512gb 4k touch.
Bring on the fun and games (again)
*edit
fun and games already started. DESPITE my credit card getting a refund from Dell last night and me making an identical transaction that was blocked 3 years ago the cockwombles blocked this payment as well...
*sigh* I now have to wait for Dell sales to phone to redo the transaction. Can you imagine the fun speaking to a busy call centre when I am bunged up with cold
Dell phoned, card ran through again and this time accepted. Back to my herbal tea.Last edited: Feb 8, 2017pressing, ThePerfectStorm and Undervolt92 like this. -
In practice, perfect alignment is required for good contact with a small amount of LM (so that excess wouldn't leak causing short circuits). I surely wasn't confident that everything was perfect when I had my 9550 open - if the pads were the right thickness, with the bent heatsink and the pads sticking etc. Maybe if you firstly check alignment and contact with thin foil over pads and a tiny dot of normal paste... Watching the 9560 guts photos closely, the heatpipe still looks bent just above that VRAM chip...pressing likes this. -

Hi guys, has anyone of you encounter a 'noisy' tab key on the keyboard? I've noticed that my tab key is less solid than the rest of the keys. What I did was rapidly tapping the key without actually pressing it and it would make some noise (like a loosen spring or something), while the character keys are silent. The backspace key also make such noise when tapping but not as much as the tab key. Is that normal?

Just had a Dell tech arrive and replace the keyboard in mine due to the issues I was having with off-centre key presses not registering. The replacement keyboard seems to have fixed the issue to the point where the keyboard actually works for touch typing.
Tech was great, very carefully with the laptop and I got my CPU and GPU repasted at the same time.
I find my self in the seemingly odd position of being happy with my 9560 ;-)huntnyc, Charles P. Jefferies, pressing and 2 others like this.
