Recognized location means it can not find the location either on the HDD or in local memory. If the file is there and has recently been accessed, it could be the Hard drive is timing out or the memory can not address the files properly.

Easiest thing in Windows is to just hold 'alt' and press print screen. Captures whatever window is in focus and then use paint to save.

bommi, ur pics are too small.

after selecting the have disk option did u choose the 'iaahci' or the 'iastor' file?
choose the iaahci file. after that you'd get a list of the ahci drivers, within the list choose the INTEL ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller. did u do this?

I found this thread only after doing all my own driver searching and installing -- wish I had seen this first. I have XP SP/2 up and running pretty well -- all my devices work and resume/hibernate work nicely. However, there are occasions when I lose a wireless network or unplug my wired ethernet when I'll get the fun RPC failure System Shutdown message saying the machine is going to reboot in 60 seconds. It's a pain in the .

I know others have the XPS M1530 running XP without this issue, and the cause for me is likely some driver issue. For example, I'm still running with my BIOS not using AHCI for the SATA drive. I don't especially want to reformat my drive -- I have licensed software and data that I don't want to have to reinstall and reconfigure.

Is it possible to install the drivers from UDI's pack now (on top of my current mostly working XP) to update what I've already got in place?

Help!

I am trying to install XP on my 1530. Since I do not have a floppy drive, I will going the slipstreaming route.

Which AHCI driver(s) should I include? UDI mentions in his readme (Method 1) to use 82801HEM/HBM (Mobile) driver. This driver is in both iaahci.inf and iastor.inf. Which one should I use?

Further, my XPS 1530 device manager shows another storage controller - "ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controller - 2850". Do I need to add this also while slip streaming?

    Thanks,

Hope someone is still available to help me with my install of XP on a Dell M1530 XPS. I have purchased a new hard drive and have the .exe from UDI, thanks for all your hard work. How do you put drivers onto a hard drive that will not start windows. The drive is new and there is nothing on it. I have loaded the XP OS, but after the OS was loaded the system is stuck in a loop of the Dell start up window. F2 or F12 is the only way to stop the looping. Any tips or direction would be greatly appreciated. My knowledge is basic so please forgive my ignorance.

hey guys, just wanna give an awesome thanks to Udi for the driver zip. i have sucessfully installed and running xp on my xps 1530 for sometime now..however there was one hurdle i couldnt over come which was switching on the ACHI from ATA, upon installing the driver from the lazy method, a prompt appeared stating my computer doesnt meet the requirments.. ive sinced ingnored this, and laptop working well, however, i would like to install vista back onto my laptop since numerous patches and service packages released.

i just need some help reinstalling vista.. i dont know whether to go back to the bios and enable flashcash and ACHI before i install vista... or do i install vista and then go to the bios and enable everything?

thanks to anyone who can help me

I think you need to change it back to AHCI. The Vista installation is easier to install the AHCI driver as it gives you an option to do so before installation.

Regarding XP, I finally got AHCI working after looking at several threads, thanks to several life savers on these forums.

Look at post 84 here as he explains the steps:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=164159&page=9

I couldn't find the "Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller" driver that you need to choose using "iata78_enu" that Udi provided in the driver pack so instead I downloaded the latest AHCI driver from here

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17882&ProdId=2101&lang=eng

and then I changed the run step to "C:\Intel\IATA89ENU.exe -a".

Found the "Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller" driver, installed, rebooted, changed back to AHCI and its all working with no BSOD.

Can you help me with the installation of WXP Pro SP 3 on a XPS M1530?

This is what i did the first time.

I tried to install a copy of WXP but did not follow the instructions in the Readme.txt . So I tried to do a re-installation over the existing NTFS partition but the second time i followed the instructions about disabling the SATA AHCI and Flash Cache in the bios. I installed XP (without deleting the partion) and then tried to load the drivers according to the readme.txt. But i couldn't load the AHCI driver from the lazy method folder because it said the system didn't meet the requirements.

Do I have to reformat the HDD and re-install WXP on the un-partitioned space? Please help. thanks

Thanks to UDI I have Win XP running on my machine for some time now.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to install a VM on this laptop while running XP and if there are any pointers to that effect.

    Thanks,
