I would re order first the WUXGA is going to have tiny tiny text and will be hard to read. Next the LED is supposed to be brighter and look really good.

Because we want more people to buy LED screens and drive down the prices so that when we buy our LED screens it'll be nice and cheap! :D

I originally ordered WUXGA but I called up Dell and changed it to LED. Got the same discount and everything.

Good idea, i got the LED and i would recommend getting it too, but if you wanna change it, you might just not getting a laptop at all, because they will cancel your order, reorder one and your ESD will be around the end of June..

I tried Crysis, playable on my 8600GT is Medium for all and 1280x768 for resolution, although I have the 1680 LCD...
so 1440 is fine since it's too many pixels anyway..
will try Oblivion when I get it... (yeah slowly)

How did you do this? They said if I change the order, I won't get the discount on the LED LCD. But if I make a new order and cancel, I get the discount, but I need to re-enter the queue.

I have one that is supposed to ship on the 6th of June. Should I wait till the end of June to get the LED?

I think it might depend on the customer service rep. But the three times I have changed my order, they all said they will apply discount.

word of warning, take anything a service rep says with a grain of salt.

Not saying you wont get the discount, but def check your card statement and make sure. I find that sometimes they seem like they just "yes" you off the phone only to do nothing they claimed they would or could lol.

If you didn't ask for a reply why did you ask for our thoughts? You're not getting sympathy because it's getting a little ridiculous. Hence my comments about the colour.

LED is awesome. I have one and love it. I'm glad i got the 320 gig drive. But then again, why does it matter what we think about the decision you made? If you like it -then its the right decision. If you base your liking it off of our thought of he decision you already made? THen you will never be happy.

I asked for thoughts, but did I target you in particular Rhodan? I simply purveyed
the deal that I had acquired, on the lofty prospect of one responding that the deal was poor or well worth it. If you provide unnecessary, supererogatory conjecture on the matter, why even respond?

As far as the downgrade in hard drive I wouldn't worry about it. You can always upgrade to a new 320 GB 7200 drive later. The Hitachi Travelstar should be out in June.

Oh, I didn't get the discount on the LED LCD. I still had to pay $50 for the upgrade from WUXGA to LED. But what I meant was, I got to keep the 40% discount I originally had for everything else.

    I configured a new 1530 and it showed a 6/11 ESD.

People like being dramatic, you have no reason to not reorder if you believe the LED is the better choice for you. I for one find the WUXGA to be a little rediculous on a 15.4 screen.

I cancelled, reconfigured for the LED screen, and have estimated arrival for 6/15. Customer support was perfect, definitely not outsourced, just do the call me now feature. No automated responses, took about 15 minutes, accepted my previous discount. Couldn't have gone smoother! Thanks for your suggestions

None of those. It would say LED. I don't think the European store has the LED option for the M1530.

It is just a different backlight technology. The regular screens use CCFL lamps. The LED would use less power and be a bit brighter.

I have the m1530 with the 1920x1200 resolution panel. I like the screen very very much. and like the laptop very much too, but so far am very concerned. I purchased 4 of them (for myself, wife, and family members) together, all with the same specs, best screen, best video card, best of everything on options. Got them in, and on ALL 4, the processor, and video were overheating in just a few hours of continuous run. I had to replace the heat sink compound on all 4 as the crappy grey rubber-like stuff they put on them had already started to get burnt. I used some very ex$$ compound and it solved the heat problem completely. After only one month, on 2 of them, the LCD died with the external monitor working fine. After a few trips from a repair tech, BOTH were motherboard problems and NOT LCD problems. Now the speakers had died on one of the repaired units, and a tech has to come out again. Good thing I got that better warranty. Anyways, I think thats pretty sorry, 2 out of 4 have died in less than a month.
