Just checked on the status of my XPS 13 that was ordered the day it was released only to find it was cancelled by dell. Anyone else have this (terrible) experience?

After an hour on hold and being transferred to 3 different departments, I was finally able to speak to someone in the order modifications department who was able to help. When I placed the order, dell mistakenly included only a 1 year warranty instead of a 3 year warranty, so they (inexplicably) cancelled the order Jan. 30 without even notifying me.

They have now placed a new order for the same machine with a small discount and free next day shipping for my troubles. Hopefully it will be here in a few weeks.

It's almost the same last year model. Quick summary is beautiful screen, good keyboard, trackpad is better than last year model (Synaptics instead of Cypress), coil whine (not loud, sometimes on, sometimes off, i'm trying to live with it).

xps 15 seems to be available on ebay amazon and best buy aplenty. wonder why its estimated ship date on dell site is as late as march...

I don't see XPS 15 9530 in Amazon or Ebay.

On the other hand, I've just been told by CS that there is a shortage on processors, which I am not too sure about. I'd say it's most likely the screen.

By the way, I just noticed that the M3800 and XPS 15 are NOT exactly using the same CPU (i7-4702HQ on the XPS 15, vs i7-4702MQ on the M3800). They seem pretty similar, though.

It is for sale at Amazon (from Dell) and BB (via Buy.com):
    Amazon.com: Dell XPS 15 XPS15-6842sLV 15.6-Inch Laptop: Computers & Accessories
Dell 15.6" XPS Ultrabook 16 GB Memory 1 TB Hard Drive and 32 GB Solid State Drive XPS15-6842SLV - Best Buy

I'd double check that BB link though, especially since they're still listing Buy.com (well, Rakuten apparently, who *does not* have any 4th gen XPS 15s for sale).

The XPS 15 and M3800 both have the i7-4702HQ.

XPS 15 Touch Screen Laptop Details | Dell
    Dell Precision M3800

But seriously, the only downside of ordering from Amazon is that you can't negotiate on price. (No taxes? Free shipping? Great!)

That link for Amazon clearly shows the old model xps 15 (6842). That is not the 9530.

Whoops, sorry. The page is full of misleading info, heavily mixing info between the 9530 and 6842 (small box on the right in the description area completely contradicts everything on the page). This issue isn't just at Amazon it looks like:

    Newegg.com - DELL XPS XPS15-6842sLV Intel Core i7 16GB Memory 1TB HDD 32GB SSD Touchscreen Notebook

Searching Google with the model number brings up the 4th gen refresh. Now I'm confused?

Then it is probably yet another errata on the Spanish website (where the resolution of the XPS 15 is listed as 3800x1880):

Dell Precision M3800: estación de trabajo portátil de 15" | Dell España

I've also just noticed it has become very expensive: 1.002.575 €, discounted to 701.802 €. I hope they offer good discounts.

The m3800 review is out on notebookcheck and surprisingly the k1100 performs really well in gaming. anyone have any idea why is it so and if i am a gamer, should i consider it in place of xps15? the advantage of m3800 is that it is available with more configuration options than xps15...thanks

I have a new Haswell i7 XPS-13, and I'm having a sleep issue. The power settings are configured to make the laptop go to sleep when I close the lid, and it does seem to go to sleep when I close the lid. However, when I open the lid, it seems to be powering up from scratch (takes about 10 seconds instead of 1 or 2 seconds as I was expecting). Is there any way to tell (other than time to wake up) if this thing is sleepig, or completely turning off?
