Come on Dell, just put it up on the Dutch store so I can give you my money.

Still no sign of the XPS 15 on the US website.
Battery -- is it safe to say the regular 61WHr battery will offer 2/3 battery life of the 91 WHr one? Based on Dell's browser test result of 11 hrs for the 91 WHr battery, that translates to 7.3 hrs -- still quite good for a quad core. I'd rather not fall for the 512GB SSD extortion just to get the extended battery.
Screen -- is the 1920x1080 screen also based on IGZO technology? For those who don't know, IGZO screens use significantly less power because they require roughly half the backlight LEDs for the same brightness, and when the screen image is static they refresh at a fraction of the rate of regular LCDs.

Any 15 inch sleeve online that will fit this well?
Dimensions other than height still bigger than MBP/R I think so those won't fit. -
The website has to be wrong. The 4702 maxes out at 3.2 GHz per Intel. Only the 4800/4900 series go up to 3.6 GHz and beyond. But those are max turbo speeds. A more important number is the 2.2 GHz sustained clock speed, no?

Waiting for it to appear on Belgian store...
German site has it. Top model costs 1999EUR, less than I expected. I wonder if this will translate to 1999$ in US. -
French one availabale here :

ni middle config fore french
-
At least you get the upper config. Some countries don't have the upper, only the low and middle.
This is the new Dell... two configs for a top line flagship XPS, but 4 or 5 for Alienware that almost nobody buys (or do they). -
what about UK? Really interested in this laptop
-
Given the limited initial release I cringe every time I see it being released in a country other than my own. Given my time zone I'm starting to grow skeptical that it will be available today, not that I would order it before I read any reviews anyway.
-
Just wait till morning or late afternoon in your country. The earlier time zones (Australia) got it first in the morning, those in Asia got it by late afternoon. Once again Dell stuck to the date.
It released in a lot more countries than we expected. It was made to sound like a limited, few country only exclusive release.
Of course, the options are really strapped. -
really hoping for a 1999 price point for top config *crosses fingers*

On the Dell UK website, scroll down its hiding under the XPS section. Not in the main navigation on the website properly yet.

Submitted my order, got the top spec with the 512 GB SSD, the price surprised me. £1,749. I thought it would be more to be honest!Lynnfriel likes this. -
Ok so it's available in the UK, Germany and France. But not yet in Belgium and The Netherlands. I hop this doesn't mean they plan on selling it later in the Benelux.
-
FYI for the UK, my order for max spec model, estimated delivery date of 12/11/2013
-
I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out with a quick query here, I'm wanting a new top spec XPS15 and I'm in the UK. However I'm quite keen on avoiding "Rip-off Britain" (top spec in AUS$2600 = £1550, not the £1750 here in the UK!!). I'm going to be in the states from the 28th of October to the 14th November and was wondering if any of the US based members know of anywhere that may likely stock this model? Or of any other possible solutions to me getting one whilst on vacation? I dont think Dell will deliver to a Hotel unfortunately.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
The prices can appear disproportionate but you have to take into account the 20% VAT charge for UK orders. Without VAT the XPS 15 top spec price is £1457.50. Not saying your wrong about the rip off culture, but VAT must be taken into account.
-
Yeah, I get the VAT is pretty huge, hence I'm looking at buying in the states where prices are generally a little lower and sales tax (In Florida where I'll be) is 6%. The AUS price also included 10%GST.
-
Reference your above order, I hope you used this coupon code (or you can cancel and re-order) for 7% off!! GX7F?F2S3D8XCK
-
Yes, without the GST (roughly 9% of the list price) it would be a lot closer to US prices.
-
Sighting on the US mobile site. Link is bad, and the desktop site doesn't have it yet. Cmon!

Thanks for that. I did, I excluded this from my original post to not confuse anybody on the full price.

I just ordered mine. I went for the 1TB version as I just could not justify an extra $400 for the SSD and larger battery. 5 Hours+ of battery will be fine if it lasts that long. Says it will ship on or before Nov 13.
-
does this have two fans cooling design and is there a manual out there for this model to see inside?
also whats the max memory you can upgrade to 16 GIG?
Thanks -
I'm betting the RAM is soldered on the motherboard since even the middle configuration for $1899 US comes with 16GB.
-
Questions:
Since the specs mention RJ-45 port, does it mean the USB to RJ-45 adapter is included? Or does it have to be ordered separately?
Also, in the HD/SSD "middle" model, is the mSATA 32GB drive used simply as a read-write cache or is it configured as a boot partition?
Has anyone confirmed with Dell that the Hard Drive is user-replaceable? For example, would I be able to put a Samsung 1TB SSD instead? -
Any of the Dell coupon codes work on this?
-
The thing went just up for order, how would anyone know? Are you retarded?
-
The US website states the $50 off coupon should apply to this laptop.
-
Dude. He was just asking. Way harsh!!
-
Thanks for your thoughtful reply!
I would think people who have already placed their orders may have discussed that with Dell sales reps...flatulatorX likes this. -
Just ordered the top config on the US site.

Looks like an amazing machine, only if it came out a little earlier. Waiting to see all the reviews, I have some doubts about the battery life claim, with full voltage processor, even with IGZO, 11 hours seems bit of a stretch. Lets see
-
I confirmed with chat that the hard drive and wireless cards are user upgradable.
-
Looks good & very tempting. If the top configuration was $2K I would have bought today. Being that the shipping date is listed as 11/13 I'll wait for some reviews & knowing Dell it will be discounted at least a bit as we get close to Thanksgiving.
Was going to get the gigabyte p34g but the battery apparently really sucks & some questionable quality issues present. -
Dells return policy is ridiculous, even Apple doesn't charge restocking fees
Guess I'll wait till it comes to best buy -
I was expecting some compromises as well, but I'm hoping they've kept things as user-serviceable as possible. You can see in pictures that there are Torx screws on the bottom of the base. I was more worried about the warranty, but dbh21 seems to have confirmed that at least some parts are user-replaceable. I think the specifications pdf said that the battery is not user-replaceable, though. I guess we'll have to wait to get the full story.
If Dell won't ship to a hotel, maybe you could try a PO box. Or, I think UPS, Fedex, and USPS (the major shipping companies) all have options to hold packages for pickup at one of their brick-and-mortar stores.
Since the RJ-45 is listed on the order page, I would guess it is included. I would bet money, however, that the 32GB SSD comes set up as a cache. This is going to be the best setup for most users.
The order page lists the RAM as "8GBx2," which makes me think it is not soldered. I guess it could just be clarifying that it's distributed across two channels, but I doubt it.
Now, does anyone know of any US coupon codes other than the $50 off? 7% off would be very nice. -
So the middle version comes with a 1TB 2.5" and a small msata drive. I have a 256 msata drive lying around. Is there any reason I couldn't swap the msata drives if I back it up?
Also, the high-end is only msata... so I should expect to be able to add an additional drive there if I wanted right? (the chat guy is so ing confused... and claims msata is not for hard drives)... -
ok... quick update. Chat now says the website has an error. The high end is a 2.5" SSD drive (not mSata). Hopefully that means I could also throw an mSata drive in there.
-
I think the space is occupied by the bigger battery. (?)
-
If you get the middle version there is no reason that you would not be able to swap out the mSata.
On the high end model there is no 2.5" drive installed but it has a larger battery. It is likely that the space saved by not having a HDD is used for additional battery capacity so you will not be able to add your own on this config. We will know for sure once the tear down manuals are uploaded to the support site. -
krayziehustler Notebook Evangelist
No there isn't any reason.
There wouldn't be any room for anything else, the bigger battery takes up the slot where the HDD used to be -
I don't know if we can trust chat people today. The one I chatted with insists the laptop has an RJ-45 port. Is it so?!
-
You can tell from the images there's definitely no RJ 45. This was known way back in July.
As for the mSata or regular SSD, it's most likely mSata because that's what the orders are saying. Orders do not include Ethernet.
