Are you kidding me? The M1330 looks so much better than the M1210.

I've seen so many M1210 users talk bad about the M1330 on these forums....It's making me laugh because it's almost like some sort of fanboy-ism

Trust me if I liked the M1330 I would return my M1210 with the quickness. But im not arguing with you looks are very opinionated so you can think it looks good and I think it looks like cheese. Its missing ports out the @ss but there are some thing that I do like about it. But im not trying to start a debate im just stating my opinion.

I'm not talking about specs here....I just meant generally....I would honestly think that the M1330 appeals to people more than the M1210. To me, the M1210 looks so much more plain.

How does the M1330 compare in size to the M1210? I'd really like some pictures comparing it to bigger laptops for instance or other objects, thanks. :)

Personally what throws me off is the wedge design, and I dont like that its a fixed camera. The M1210 looks more like a box but I think it comes off more appealing than the M1330.

    That is true and understandable.

Trust me, GCSU, I respect your opinion. My point was that all the M1210 users seem to not like the M1330 for some reason. I haven't seen one 1210 user talk about buying the M1330, etc.

If you go through the larger forum, much like this one I think it is "M1330 pics" or something like that. There are quite a few M1210 users that are selling theres to buy the M1330. Trust me I have done so much research on laptops in the last 2 weeks its gonna make me sick lol. But you are right most of the M1210 users dont want to get the M1330 for some reason...but I think that reason is, they are happy with there M1210 but there could be others I dont know.

The M1330 is going to be bigger, largely due to the increased screen size...

How many times are you going to repeat that? You're sounding like a broken record. Users here don't really care what you think of the M1330's shape, so stop trying to insert it wherever you can.

You're just trying to justify how your M1210 is better. Look up the definition of "fanboy". Other people don't care.

I wish more laptops went with the "flat key" approach the Macbooks have. It's so much more comfortable if you can touch type.

I wonder how much the 1520 is going to cost....it is between this and the 1520.

Ill repeat it as many times as needed lol. You seem a lil too agressive on the subject. But another part about FANBOY is that you become biasly aggressive(which is you) so I think you need to chill. 2 times is not a broken record thats more along the lines of a skip in a cd :) But I agree the keyboard does look nice, and I hope it has the same touch pad as the M1210 cause it looks like it, with the scroll arrows..

Nope, it's been upgraded to 2.0Mp, but no more revolving camera. I don't care about the camera and neither does my bro. Hopefully, you can just not choose it like with the M1210.

Yea im sure that will be an option dell likes to show off the really really "souped up" version then when you go to build it the little things like the camera end up being 75 extra. It was a good option for me though, with class lectures, hopefully that might assist in getting that A.

I'm in the same boat... 1520 or 1330. I'm leaning towards the 1520 cause i already have acces. that go with that size(laptop cooler, sleeve, backpack), it will be considerably stronger, and will prob. cost the same or less then the 1330.

The style and weight obviously favor the 1330, but i doubt i'll be carrying it around much. I think thats the big question you need to ask yourself.
'will i be carrying around this laptop enough, to warrant the considerably weaker graphics card, and higher price?'
Plus, it isnt like the 1520 is that heavy. The biggest question i have, in terms of portability with it, is how solid is it? the last revision felt pretty flimsy.

Yeah man we are definately in the same boat, in the same room in the boat, too. (Corny  )

Anyway, this laptop is for my brother. He is a "light" gamer by nature now because he is going to medical school and will be really busy. He mainly just plays Command and Conquer 3, which I know the 8400M GS will rape. However, he loves horror/FPS games....I know he will love Bioshock and Crysis. That is why I suggested he get the 1520 with the 8600M GT. He doesn't care about size as long as it is 15.4" or less.

    Here's me:

Price is definitely a main priority, being a student.
M1330 has SSD (interests me from a battery standpoint, AND speed standpoint)
    M1330 has Fingerprint Scanner
E1520 has better Graphics Card options
E1520 has a bigger screen (home 14.1" would be perfect for me, but)
E1520 will definitely be cheaper, but by how much?

Yes, for me, I am waiting for prices. However, it is only between the M1330 and 1520. The 14.1" has a 8400M GT, which sucks compared to the 8600M GT.

All of the new Inspirons, plus the M1330, are up on the Dell.ca website now.

Wow, the same M1330(7100, 8400, 120 5400rpm, bluetooth, LED display) costs $1700cnd at the canadian site, but $2100usd at the american site... I think they made a mistake at the canadian one.(they offer the LED upgrade for free at .ca, and charge $150 at .com)

Anyone know why Dell is offering a much weaker 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS card on their xps line, but offer a 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8600M GT 256MB on their inspiron line? Is it because the 13.3 inch notebook is too small for the card or something?

    Damn.

I agree, I wish the 8400 video card would have 256MB instead of the 128MB. Now a days the 128MB is the bare minimum for performance.

Well yeah, 13,3" is too small for 8600M GT, and I would say that biggest problem is the heat issue. Im pretty sure that afterall Dell did their best with GPU, if they could put better card, they would have done it.

How would the 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS compare with the Go7400 on the XPS1210
I am getting seriously tempted to sell the 1210 and pick this one up...

The 1330 is expected to be up on the India site by this Weekend and I just hope Dell doesn't goof up on the pricing...

Does anybody know whether that beautifully red-looking cover (on some pics) is metallic, shiny, glossy or is it just plain matte red? The first pics suggested shiny...but I've seen recent pics where it looks more plain.

The 8400GS is almost twice more powerful then 7400go.. in terms of benchmark scores, in actually gaming performance.. things might vary. Best is to wait for that m1330 review coming up soon :)

Did anyone read the overview? The LED screen comes with a 0.3MP camera instead of a 2.0, why would they do that, it's stupid.

The 2MP camera is likely one of lower resolution with software extrapolation to boost it up to 2MP. Besides, you aren't going to be doing very much serious work with a notebook webcam to begin with. The extra $150 that you have to plunk down for the LED-backlit display is a rather hefty price to pay IMHO.

When I got the complete care + next business day warranty for 3 years, I became eligible to receive international warranty.

Last week I called Dell to inquire about the process of having my laptop fixed if something were to go wrong when I am on the go. Spoke to some hick in Alabama who, at first, did not know his department's international phone #. After some arguing and being placed on hold a couple of times, he finally came up with one; you can't dial toll-free numbers from abroad, unless you're using VoIP or services such as jajah.com or webcalldirect.com, so the number to use is 1-512-728-7424 (or 1-800-285-1653). Then I inquired about logistics of having my system shipped/parts received. Poor fellow couldn't really comprehend my hypothetical situation of laptop being dropped in the airport somewhere in Belgium and screen displaying vertical lines and other noise all over the place. My question to him was: how would I go about replacing the screen? He told me the following:

"Sir, I can't answer your question since I don't know what could be wrong with your screen. You have to call us here, we will diagnose the system and then ship you the part."

I asked how long it usually takes to receive parts couriered to Western Europe; he replied that Dell does not ship parts overseas! Back to square one. I explained my hypothetical situation, said that in regular circumstances a repair technical would come by and asked him if they didn't send parts overseas, how I should go about shipping my system back to Dell for repairs. He wasn't aware of such process (ugh, the guys works for their international warranty department) and I just hung up on the poor fellow, having exhausted all patience. My guess is that Dell will ship a box with return label/etc. and the whole process of you sending it to and receiving it from USA will take quite some time. Unless, of course, there are local repair centres all over Europe.

So... call that 1-800 # and inquire. Perhaps you'll get someone brighter.
