If I enable advanded battery charging in BIOS and/or change standard charging to the other thing, what does it do?

It helps your battery live longer.

You must enter BIOS and set battery charge to 60%.

I was asking about calibration because the color on my 7559 is like there's this yellow cast over everything or something. Blues are grey and no amount of fiddling with the settings makes things look better. Things get brighter but the colors don't really change. It's weird. I've never had a computer with screen colors like this.
-
My old Samsung Screen has better colors than this Dell but on Dell I can work longer and my eyes are not getting tired. If you don't like your screen you can buy better and replace it in Dell.

It's still better than 100% so.

Due to receive my 7559 this week with the KFKV0 screen. Is this the better one? (FYI: i7, 8Gb, 1Tb)
-
Is anyone having an issue with the trackpad not disabling even with the option off in settings? The mouse detection thing doesn't work well either.
Sent from my bacon -
Picked up one last week. Apart from dodgy drivers and a screen that lacks colors its nice. For the trackpad i did not manage to find a driver that works on windows 10. The default one included in the os can disable when i plug in a mouse, if i install the one from this thread i am unable to disable it. Audio crackles if card reader and rapid storage are not installed but works perfectly fine after. WTF?
One issue that i have, might not be necessarily hardware related, probably driver stuff again. I can games at fluid 60FPS but i cant watch a stream on twitch or a youtube video with hardware acceleration on at 60FPS it has constant drops to 40 or below. Software works but taxes CPU hard, Edge seems better than Chrome in all aspects. Is this some of the bugs that are not ironed out in the browser/skylake drivers? What can i do apart from not watching streams or 1080p videos.... The old N5110 lying around is decoding both perfectly even when on the Intel GPU that is like 1/5 of the perf the HD530 could theoretically deliver. Did not try the latest Intel beta driver yet, but it suggests only fixes to game perf and that does not really concern me. I tried putting everything to high performance too. It is totally unacceptable that a $800 machine cannot play a video stream a $200 smartphone can perfectly. -
Does a full size sd card stick out any when in the sd slot, or is it flush? If sticks out, how much?
-
It's normal on chrome, just don't use it. On other internet browser videos are playing perfectly.
-
I still don't get it. Why could my older laptop paly it perfectly with the same version of chrome and this just cant. I spend a lot of time watching videos and if this applies to other sites and video players as well then its a pretty big issue we are speaking about.
-
-
I can play video smoothly. Normal avi/mp4 files 3%/3% gpu and cpu usage, for these streams GPU goes to 80% cpu to 60% and still cannot sustain 60fps. If i put it in software decoding i get 80% cpu but 60fps, and cannot do anything else while i watch a live stream.

-
Wow. You would think such a relatively large footprint would have space for a full depth sd slot, but less than .2" stick out is not super bad. I guess.....vitodavide likes this. -
I was trying to get my system found on Dell's support page because the thing that can be downloaded couldn't detect it. Once I entered my service tag it said my laptop's warranty was expired. I'm trying to reach them to get this resolved but wanted to warn others to check their warranty statuses too. I ordered earlier this month but the support site says the ship date was Dec 7th.
-
Just received my 7559 today and on the first not so satisfied with it right now, I am maybe missing some setup or something but my display is horrible!
My 6 year old Dell Studio has far better display than this. What's the catch??
What screen resolution do you guys using? This Dell recommended 1920 x 1080 has to small icons and everything to me.
And everything is so blurry with this display - this is my biggest concern whit it, why is it so?? My lcd is LG D04B9 (KFKV0).
Sound is flickering really not so good, programs start up really slow so SSD is a must, Win 10 also terrible will switch to Win 7 for sure, and this parallel graphic cards system Intel/Nvidia is killing me - for each software I have to set manually to run with Nvidia? That's crazy. I don't want a balanced and optimal performance every time because of the battery or somethin....I want maximum performance every single time even if I open calculator or notepad...
Overall comparing to my old Dell Studio 1558 not much of a gain here - I don't know maybe I am missing something, maybe setup is wrong somewhere but I expected way more of a juice from 7559 than this right now - this display really bothers me. -
This is crazy. The service tag associated with my computer was never put in the system as attached to my order. When I tried to get help from the order support chat they just told me the warranty showed on the invoice and that it was valid then told me to contact tech support. I tried to chat with that department but it wouldn't let me because their system showed I had no warranty and the screen told me to call instead.
I call tech support and the first guy can't help me so he transfers me to some tech department which name I never did understand and the woman who answered told me my service tag was associated with a laptop in Canada and kept asking me if I was in Canada. I told her I wasn't and all I could think of was that was where the previous owner was who ordered this laptop in December. So this lady tells me to get in contact with customer support again.
I'm on the phone now with customer support and that is how I found out the service tag was never attached to my order so that's why the previous order info for the laptop is still showing up in the system. I am on hold now after giving the guy the service tag, order number and some other info. I want a credit to my order too for having to deal with all of this crap for going on 3 hours today. If I hadn't gone to the support section of Dell's site to update my drivers this warranty issue could have gone on for who knows how long. They say that can't compensate me until they've completed the attachment of my service tag number to my order and once that's complete I can call back to find out how much they can credit back to me. Ugh.
One question I do have. How do I find out the model number for my screen? -
Got my 6700HQ, UHD, 256 SSD and 1TB HDD today. Observations with half a day:
-Nice build (mine has the red trim)
-The UHD display blows the 1080P version away and scales to lower resolutions and still IMO looks better.
-A trace of light bleed at bottom noticed with black display (minimal)
-Very surprised how well the display scales down and does not look blurry
-Touch response is great
-Sound quality after tweaking the stock EQ is good (bass causes clipping though, so needs turned down some)
-I like the keyboards set up and the three levels of light for keyboard
-Touch pad is better than expected (perhaps due to low expectations based on reviews and some posts)
-Device is fast (duh)
-Heat dissipation design is very good
-File transfer with 3.0 thumbdrives and HDD is surprisingly fast
-Battery life is better than expected
-Wifi appears better than reported, or lucking out with my Netgear.
-Fan appears to be economical and only usually comes on full with heavier loads
-Battery life seems to be helped with lowering the display res for general use, but will test more to see if placebo.
My main issue so far is video streaming playback is juddery at full screen with Firefox, and Chrome plays full screen, but sound is out of sync. My Dell 7140 5Y10 has NO similar issues and neither does my Android Yoga 3 Pro Tab, or Tab S 8.4. Not getting why the issue. Only updated the Nvidia drivers so far.
I have tried various sites with similar outcomes- IGN is a good example. Ironic for other devices with video playback having no issues with FAR less ram, CPU and GPU power. Makes NO sense IMO.
For some sites, Firefox is juddery even when not in full screen. My little Dell 7140 5Y10 is like butter with the same sites.Last edited: Feb 24, 2016 -
It seems the issue is somewhere in the drivers and the browsers Chrome and Firefox. Spent half a day researching but i found no clear solution to the problem. It manifested itself on other Dell systems, other manufacturer laptops and even on custom built desktop systems. They all have in common the 6th gen Intel cpu integrated graphics regardless of version they should be able to play video content without using up much power. Tried the latest beta intel driver and it does still not offer fix for the issue. On the Intel forums they say they are investigating into it. Other third party websites with hosted video seem fine, but they are not really providing the 1080p or 4K to be able to test thoroughly.
Although there are some good news i am still not hopeful that we will recieve a fix from either side Dell/Intel/Google/Mozilla that at least can temporarily offer better performance. These machines have the dedicated nVidia GPU and even forcing Chrome to use it you end up with the same behavior as with the integrated, it seems the browser plugin does not care about the active GPU and tries to use the Intel at all times. -
That all considered, makes no sense to release with these issues and still not be fixed. My 7140 with it's little 5Y10 laughs at the 7559. If a systemic issue to the platform, it is even more inexcusable.

2. No you don't have to manually run with NV. Where did you see it? -
Any one have an idea of how to set this? I'm fine with stop charging at 90% but start charging at 50%? What's that all about? I want my battery to always charge up regardles of the percentage but stop at 90% Thank you.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
About the 50% thing - if you plug it in and out a lot, then it will charge the battery over and over. However, if you wait until 50%, you're reducing the number of charges which helps the battery life.. -
Has anyone tried putting 32 GB (2 x 16) into this laptop?
I'm running 32 GB of DDR3L in an Inspiron 7548, and I'd be curious to know if this laptop could accept that capacity since it uses DDR3 as well. -
I notice that Edge and Opera do not have the streaming video playback issues that Chrome and Firefox have. Both are smooth in window, full screen and with no audio sync issues. This would suggest to me it is perhaps more an app issue rather than a device/driver issue. The issue would appear more to do with Chrome and Firefox. That said, I thought Opera was core derivative of Chrome. Whatever the issue is, Edge and Opera do not appear to have it and work fine with video.
The irony is I normally use Chrome and Firefox and rarely used the other two. Until now.
BTW, knocking the display resolution down does help with battery life. Seems up to 15% better, but would not commit to that number. The scroll issues I have seen posted do not happen. No issues that could be attributed to a nuts high 4K display res for a laptop with current tech.
I wish the display was 1440p native. Better compromise and still the cad folks are good.Last edited: Feb 26, 2016 -

So, I just bought an 8x2 1866 Mhz DDR3L RAM kit from Crucial that worked perfectly out of the box. It is running at the advertised speeds with no problems.

I'm not expecting a response but I'll ask anyway. Has anyone had trouble getting the back cover lined up when screwing it back on? I get the back cover of mine screwed back on and the right side doesn't want to lay all the way down and pokes up. It's driving me crazy.

I tried downloading this video and playing it. It stutters and glitches. >_<

One more question. What does this USB stick that came with my 7559 do? Will it reinstall Windows 10?
This is the first laptop I've had without a DVD drive so I'm not familiar with creating restore images on onto USB sticks and etc. Makes me feel like a noob to computers when I'm not one. Sorry if I'm annoying all of you with so many questions. -
-
Hi all, I'm hoping someone might have run into this before and knows how to avoid it going forward. I recently received my Inspiron 7559 and bought an M.2 SSD. I downloaded the Dell system recovery image, put it on a USB drive, and installed a new copy of Windows onto the SSD. I then wiped the Hybrid drive that came with the laptop.
The issue is that I've run Windows update, and as it is downloading and installing these updates, the computer turns off and won't boot. I have to use the recovery USB to re-install Windows. This has happened a couple of times now and it's becoming very frustrating.
Anybody know what might be happening and how I can fix it? -
Quick question. I have had the laptop for a few weeks now and its great for the price. One thing that bothers me though is the touchpad. I have noticed it is not using a complete touchpad driver suite and I think this is the cause of my biggest hate with the touchpad, the fact when you move the pointer around there is a horrid smoothing effect.
Is it a Synaptics or Elan touchpad as I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information on the web. -
-
And why would you want that? you don't want to run "calculator" on the NV beast, for example.. -
For folks with the UHD display, or considering it: I find overall the display is better than 1080p. Three dings though IMO being makes the device a tad heavier, costs more and a glossy screen (avoid direct light and not an issue).
1. The display seems to be power efficient for a UHD and perhaps more to do with being dimmer compared to other options. I use 90% brightness fine when plugged in and 40% when not. 100% in dark is too bright for me.
2. My rationale for the power efficiency is I get two hours more battery at 1080p (the GPU has less to calculate). The display scales well, which surprises me.
3. I normally use the display at around 1440p, so get about 90 minutes instead of two hours. IMO, 1440p is a good fit for the display.
4. The colors are better and more clear image compared to the 1080p. Not seen the LG panel though, so no comparison for that.
5. The touch display is handy in certain situations. Nice to have as an option.
Battery life though for me is not too big an issue, since mainly use for gaming and emulators (plugged in). I have a Dell 7140 for more practical PC portability when preferred. -
AU Optronics screen finally arrived, that cheaper postage totally was not worth it (took over a month to arrive) but their DHL option was a tad on the expensive side.
Happy with it so far. It doesn't seem to have the clarity of the factory LG screen (confirmed it is a LP156WF6SPM1). Initially it had a slight ring about an inch or so in around the monitor where there was a difference in brightness (only noticeable on a black screen), but as it's warming up more it has lessened.
Colours are much more vivid and deep. Downloaded an ICC profile from the Clevo N150SD and it has warmed up the whites a touch.
Not sure if I'd recommend the screen to anyone else, but I'm happy with it over the factory LG screen since I was more concerned about colours for photo editing. -
Is there a way to easily update all drivers to latest?
I find the manual process very tedious: matching Dell's driver name to a slightly different name in Device Manager, then clicking the Driver tab and hoping the version shown there relates to Dell's version number, then upgrading if it's not latest. Surely an app could do all this better, and regularly. -
Is your 4K screen RGBW?
Above is the 4K screen of limmerguy's i7 7559. It is the LGD04D9 / 156UD2 panel according to HWiNFO64. It clearly shows RGBW subpixels and the blurry text characteristic of Pentile screens.
This seems to contradict notebookcheck's review of the 7559 featuring the same LGD04D9 / 156UD2 panel:
EDIT: I just received mine and can confirm that the LGD04D9 / 156UD2 panel is RGBW pentile, and will be returning it.Last edited: Mar 4, 2016 -
I so just got my 7559 yesterday. Some panel info for yall...
Pulled the part number off of my build sheet. (Build date 1/28/16)
Looking up the part confirms that I received the 1080p LG panel.
Just did a clean install of windows on my 7559. Looking for the touchpad drivers. Looking at the hardware IDs I have no idea what I could go for.
Clearly the HID device is an ELAN device, but when I install the elan drivers in this thread on that device it bluescreens and I have to remove them in safemode.
The second device there (PS/2) has the hardware ID of DLL0706. When looking this up on google it shows me links to synaptics touchpads.
So which on is it? Any info would be helpful.
