Yep the LG screen is used on newer builds (mine had it too). It's a pretty poor screen though and not really much better than the BOE screen it replaced; colour representation is still horrible.
See my previous post where I've swapped it with an AU Optronics B156HAN01.2 and now I'm much happier with the colour of the screen, although clarity has slightly reduced (text doesn't look as sharp but my eyes have already adjusted to it).

Hi there, after almost a month of usage, I've realized that if the lid is closed and I open it, the hinge makes a very light sound when the lid reaches 90°. The sound is on the left hinge when you're facing the laptop.
Edit: It only makes a sound if I'm opening it. -
Hi!
I have recently buy a new one DELL 7559 (Dell Inspiron 7559 i5-6300HQ/8GB/1000/Win10 FHD GTX 960).
Unfortunately I have noticed that I got some issue with my speakers (internal).
When speakers "turning on", before sound I can hear a hissing sound.
Also when I watching a Youtube film and pause it I can hear it.
I have recorded the isseu: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fx7ftyid0c4zy1a/AAAedRPL3fg-1rHxY9QrARrWa?dl=0
Can You write me do You have this same issue?
Or my model is broken?
Thanks! -
No blur here. 4K looks as sharp as one could expect a 4K display, but I leave mine at 1532 (1440P), since greatly reduces the load on the GPU and helps a LOT on battery life. My 32" HP display for desktop is 1440P and looks great and the 15.6" display IMO at 1440P looks even better (higher DPI). I wish this device was native 1440P, but not sure if would look any better if it were.
Pentile would make sense why the display is more efficient and also why does not get as nuts bright as it could. Still, 90% on power is bright enough for me and 45% while on battery is fine (when not in bright direct light of course- I do not use any display in direct light anyway).
Not seeing the concern with pentile personally on a 4K display, but everybody has their own preferencesColor on mine is fantastic IMO.
Seriously, total cost vs features and performance, this is the best laptop I have owned and have had more than I care to admit. PC gaming, emulators and media are very fine on this device and battery life is very good for a device with the features and specs this has.
Plus very little bloat- unlike the Lenovo's I have owned.Last edited: Mar 7, 2016JTOverath likes this. -

Hi all,
I've recently joined the club with owning this excellent laptop, overall I'm very happy with it so far - the only thing to point out is the screen that is shipped with it is somewhat disappointing. Mine also comes with the LG 156WF6 LGD04B9 KFKV0, I am too looking to upgrade to something better due to the brightness being a bit of let down. From research I have narrowed down the searches to the following:
LTN156HL01-102
LTN156HL02-201
LP156WF6 SPB1
As it stands I am at a bit of a loss as to which one to go for, due to the recommendations of all three of the following models. Lastly, those who have managed to successfully source replacements - where did you order them from?
Many thanks - Liam. -
Best choice. As far as color accuracy and brightness goes. This is an 8-bit panel.
Note that 6-bit panels are far cry from 8-bit panels. -
-
What is the price of one of these LTN156HL06-C01 screen?
I assume you have to go to the certified Dell service center to change it - DIY method would canceled guarantee right?
And one question about cleaning the surface of Inspiron 7559 - how and with what do you clean that surface of this laptop without leaving marks on it anyway?
I've carried my laptop with greasy fingers few days ago and left few stains on it - I tried to clean it after with pretty much everything but I still can't clean the surface completely, like it's soaked and I am leaving new marks after wiping it....such a strange case material. -
Does anyone have a photo of the internal speakers of the 7559 and/or does it use the speakers from the inspiron 15 7000 series? How about a photo of the subwoofer too? Planning on upgrading the speakers and subwoofer.

Try a mild facial toner. I've tried it and it works. Tho you can't instantly dry some portion in the laptop, You have to wait several minutes then wipe it again to remove that "wet" portion. You have to use a lint-free cloth for wiping. And don't directly apply the facial toner to the laptop (cause i've never tested it. and i don't recommend something that i haven't tested myself). -
Hey, I bought this laptop for my wife and also bought a 480 gb ssd and 16gb of 1866 cl10 ram. I downloaded the dell recovery image and followed the instructions for Windows 10 but was unable to copy the contents of the ISO as it kept throwing msdos copy errors in the file manager. I then tried to copy the files over with winzip as per the windows 7 instruction and this appeared successful. However I could not boot the usb due to "memory subsystem error" on recovery boot up. Finally I just did the "create recovery media" option from the start menu and this time I was able to boot and install to my ssd. During this install I had a message to change (ie erase) the trusted configuration module. I have skipped this step at every boot so far. Is this just something I should let it do or is this Likely to erase my windows 10 key? Thanks

Does anyone know how to properly run userbenchmark on this laptop with Nvidia GPU instead of Intel's?
I have tried several times to run a benchmark and set to open userbenchmark with Nvidia graphics but every time it runs with Intel graphics instead and keep showing me this message in userbenchmark log: "WARNING: skipping nvidia geforce GTX 960M - unable to locate attached display"

Today I received my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 networkcard for my Dell inspiron 7559.
Can I simply use the drivers from Intel's website for it? An if yes which one? Only the drivers, or drivers inculded the "Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software"?
Or can I use drivers of current Wireless-AC 3165?Last edited: Mar 12, 2016 -

The 8260 is in my Inspiron now. At first powerup the 8260 was recognized by the drivers of the 3165. So I could connect to my router and internet. Then I found on Dell's support site the newest Dell driver for the 3165, also compatible with the 8260, but allas. This Dell driver refused to install. Then I downloaded the latest 8260 driver from Intel's website, which installed perfectly and now I'm online with about dubble speed (to my router) currently 866 Mbps.

Sam -
Is the 7265/8260 more stable compare to 3165?
Not speed wise, just the connection stability -
Just ordered a 7559 from the Outlet store and came across this forum.
It's great to see plenty of community support for the device.
Aside from the Wi-Fi card upgrade (3165 to 8260) are there any other worth while upgrade for the system?
Current Spec: i7 6700HQ, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 2GB 960M, 3165 Wi-Fi. -
I might buy this laptop. Just not sure about a few things...
There are many complains about the trackpad and keyboard. Did you guys get used to it? Or is it just really terrible to type / browse on?
Also what do you guys think about the built quality of the laptop?
I'm interested in the 4k touch version. For who owns this version ; do you like the touch screen? What settings do you use? (scaling, or do you put the resolution lower?)
Thanks -
I have the FHD version so no opinions about 4k -
I got used to it, too. What threw me off was the spasms it was doing once it came back from sleep. Turned out it needed a bios update to fix, and all been well since on my unit.
-
The trackpad and keyboard seem fine to me. Not seeing the negative points IMO. The laptop for gaming especially for the price rocks real hard.
No issues with the wifi that people report, but so far only used at home with my Netgear. -
The only issue I have with the trackpad is it doesn't always disable when I have a mouse plugged in after waking up from a hibernate.
Sent from my bacon -
Trackpad and keyboard are OK for me too.
And the AC-8260 runs rock stable with me, connected to a Netgear R7000 router
But fortunately I run in another issue, reported by lot of Windows10 users generally: I received my 7559 with the latest Windows 10 build. First weeks everything was OK, till I tried to connect a beamer (projector) to my HDMI output. In the beginning I could not get the beamer working at all, but after a restart of my laptop I finally got the thing working. Next morning I got a worse surprise: At start-up I did not got the Dell animations, but my screen went black with just a white cursor arrow. Of course I was not amused. Finally I connected the beamer again and after de-connecting the hdmi cable I suddenly got my login-screen and I could login to my desktop.
Since then on regular base I get this black screen with only white cursor again. Till now I always managed to get my login-screen back, but I don't know how. Sometime after a few minutes it's there again. Or playing with the hdmi connection to my beamer helps also sometimes.
One thing I found out the last times this was happening, that every time when I changed a setting in the windows settings/controlpanel I got this black screen with only white curser again after restart, logout or shut down and start up again.
I've search a lot on the internet, read lots of solutions, but till now none is the final solution.
So my question to you on this forum: Has anyone of you the same experiences with this black screen with white cursor? Can this be a Dell problem because of de two graphics cards? Or is this clearly an Microsoft Windows 10 issue? -
Does anybody know why Intel's Speed Shift Technology (SST) isn't yet activated? I have just watched in HWInfo64 and it says it is disabled. Actually i thougt there was an update for Windows 10 in last autumn which enabled SST for Skylake Processors!
Here's a picture of HWInfo64. Is it enabled for anyone? Or does Dell have to bring a BIOS Update in order to make it work?

Thanks for the replies! I guess the keyboard and trackpad are not that bad. Hopefully someone with the 4K touchscreen can still tell me a bit more about that. I'm curious about the touchscreen delay.
Also, it's a backlit keyboard, but I've heard it'll turn off after a while. I like backlit keyboards but I'd be annoyed if it turns on/off all the time. Is it possible to just keep it turned on?
oh and it's really easy to upgrade this laptop with just one screw. Which is really nice. But does anyone know if it'll void the warranty? I've send an email to dell about this too but they don't reply..Last edited: Mar 18, 2016 -
They're probably talking about the function where it turns off after you haven't used the keyboard for a while. While you're typing, the keyboard should stay lit.
Opening the back cover WON'T void the warranty.
To everyone else: Do you guys think Dell will change any features of the 7559 in the coming months? I know it's all speculation but that's all I'm looking for. I want to purchase one for school but I don't know if it's worth waiting to see if they will do something with the upcoming Pascal chips and/or upgrade certain parts thus making it worth to wait a little longer. I won't need the laptop until September but otherwise I'll order it next month. -
Thanks for the reply, good to know opening the back won't void the warranty.
I don't know about changes, I know pascal is coming but I haven't heard anything like a release date yet. So I don't think they will launch before September. Still it's one big guess, and if you don't need the laptop yet you can always wait till august to see if it gets an upgrade or a price drop. -
Screen is a bit yellow on fhd model. Tried one posted earlier and it had some extra blue. Anyone have calibration recommendation?

Hey guys, thanks for the thread, lots of useful info here.
Finally got mine, FHD version, and have a question about touchpad. Basically it looks like it has 3 levels:
- just touch no sound at all, the cursor moves, but hard to do, minimal pressure required
- light click, that's where the looseness, very annoying for scrolling eg
- heavy full click

anybody facing issue with trackpad. Upper left part of trackpad is "protruding" slightly..if i press it harder, it settles down..any suggestion on this?
and i am looking at adding a SSD to my lappy. How do i re-install OS in new SSD? -

Does the outlet 7559 comes with GTX 960M? I found no description of it at all.

well yesterday when I looked they only had 3 7559 models and none had the nvidia 960m listed in the descriptions, even when I clicked on each one to check. Today there are a lot more 7559 models listed and most show the 960m listed in the description.

Anyone else hear a faint buzzing noise (sounds like it's coming through the speakers even though I've muted the volume) when playing flash videos? As soon as I close the tab the sound goes away. The buzzing noise also goes away when I plug in headphones.
My audio drivers are updated.Last edited: Mar 25, 2016 -
2. Why do you need that much memory? You NSA bro? Lol.
Well, i think it is important u get a computer now, then get this one. If it's not that important, or urgent. Wait. Because why not? Personally, when i want it, i buy it. Simple as that.
On a final note $800 for this computer is a steal. I paid ONLY $600 haha! In my country (Nigeria). I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about lol. It costs more now and is harder to find. I'm glad i didn't wait

I ordered the laptop last monday! Currently it's "in production". Hope it will get send soon! -
I'm now wishing I had returned my 7559 during the return period. I accidentally bumped the side of mine into a rubber storage drawer set on the side when I was putting it down. I didn't think it hurt anything but some of the rubber (or whatever the top where the dell logo is made of) came off on the top of the computer on the right side. It wasn't even that hard of a hit at all so I was really surprised when I discovered the damage. A bump like that wouldn't have hurt the Dell refrurb 17R this 7559 replaced.
I started Googling online trying to find some type of skins for this laptop so I could cover the damage up somehow and not have to see it all the time. The only one I could find was a $25 one from China and the reviews for it are awful. I have a code for a free Skinit skin but I couldn't find anything on their site that would fit either. I'm so frustrated with myself for causing cosmetic damage to this thing and even more so that I can't do anything to fix it or cover it up. -

Maybe you can cover it up with some other stickers? -

It will arrive a week from now, because it is shipped to philippines. I'll see if it won't really fit.Rowan likes this. -
Maybe the review said thaat it won't fit because of the curves of the dell 7559. The reviewer also said that the skin only deviates by millimeters, so it's relatively small. I think it's probably a defective skin. lol
