Yes I said that, those profiles are not directly for LG156WF6 in Dell 7559. Those profiles are from V15 Nitro, Alienware etc... Similar LG156WF6 models. As I said, V15 nitro has LG156WF6 too, but it is much better than Dell's LG156WF6.

How do I see my screen model?

In device manager it's only "Generic Monitor" or under events, it's BOE062F.

EDIT : Nevermind, just googled it and it's BOE062F NV15N41

    ----

I downloaded the profile from http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/dell-inspiron-15-7559-review/ and yours and I chose the one from gaminglaptopsjunky. The only one in yours was AW15, but was a bit darker.

The one I chose was a bit too blue, so I changed some stuffs in Intel Control panel.

    General Brightness : 5
    Hue : 8
    Saturation : 8

Can't create ICC and upload it, but if you want to test with these settings, it's up to you :)

Also, if someone can do better to be around true color, post your settings and ICC.

    ICC profile for LG156WF6:
I can arrange ICC profile from some photographer but is not cheap, if is here someone, who wants calibrated profile too. We cane make a deal and pay it together. :) The cost is about 30 dollars for professionaly icc calibrated profile.

I can be in, but how do we know if it will be successful and well calibrated?

Whatever, I changed my Intel settings for color and edited what I had above. I added some hue and reduce saturation to get a better yellow and green. Now the white is a bit too bright I don't know what to do lol. We need a community effort to finally fixe the colors on the 7559.

The thing is that since I already had an old Inspiron 15R N5010, I don't know which color are the true one hahaha. For example, on my N5010 every color are stronger, but on the 7559 it's darker.

The only thing I don't really like is that Intel settings are only appearing after I login instead of when the computer is starting. Anyway to change that?
Also, if I play game, will I need to make a color correction with the Nvidia graphic card or it will be fine?

    EDIT :

One really weird thing I saw is when putting the hue around 80, I saw some bright green (the one currently missing normally), so maybe the screen can support true colors? Very strange...

Coil whine from AC adapter and laptop when the laptop is connected to the charger and the battery is at 100 %, SOLVED.

I contacted with Dell support and they told me to send them the laptop. I requested them a new AC charger before sending it because I read on Dell US forums that some users solved this problem on XPS series with a new AC adapter.

Dell sent me an AC adapter with a different S/N to the one that came with the laptod and problem solved. The new adapter is the one that Dell sells in its website, and as I said, it's S/N different from the one that came with my laptop.

I can't provide S/Ns because AC adapters differ in each country.

Probably the factory AC adapter is crap compared with the one that Dell sells in its website.

BIOS update can be found on Dell Website.
I think the BIOS update fixe the trackpad... Don't know if it's true, but before it was 1 sec. late, but now it's ok (even if sometimes it's unresponsive until you click on the left button).

    Hi again,

    You have BIOS 1.2.0 already?

For the charger I have the same problem about charging light.
Can't help you for other problem.

For the colors on BOE screen, I improved from my last message.

    1. First install ICC from http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/dell-inspiron-15-7559-review
    2. Correct gamma with Windows color correction tool.
    3. Go into Intel Control panel and change :

    Red Brightness : 0 or 3
    Green Brightness : 6
    Blue Brightness : 6
    General Gamma : 1.0

    Hue : 0
    Saturation : 8

I followed some charts about white point and shadow.
    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
    http://www.simpelfilter.de/en/colorman/blackpoint.html
    http://media.apcmag.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2014/03/greyscale-chart-monitor-calibration.jpg
    http://www.imaging-resource.com/ARTS/MONCAL/CALIBRATE.HTM
    and more from Bing/Google images.

For me it's the best I can do. Colors are much better. The only problematic color is green, but overall it's better than before.

    What's your thought?

    thx

PS: I still don't know why screen are not coming calibrated out of the box. Don't know if it's only Dell, but that s*ck.

You can not be in, beucase my panel is from LG and your's is obviously BOE. I need someone who want ICC profile to LG panel. And we can pay it together. I have some experience with calibration and I found some photographer who tell me, come and we can calibrated.

Also, I found this great website to calibrate gamma and colors.
    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

Kind of improved colors at the maximum I can (I edited my post above with new settings).
Still no true colors, but better than nothing... I will certainly change my laptop in a couple of years, but before buying I will check this forum, because it's more informative than videos and reviews.

still, no one cracked open the vbios and overclocked gpu further than 135mhz (or people is not sharing their accomplishments). it is very interesting considering this is a very popular laptop.

for people having cpu / coil whine, i posted a solution couple of pages back. the solution is just for the ones who have this whine unplugged though. it whines when its plugged because of the shawty adaptor. some say replacement unit stops it.

modifying the vbios is easy - but skylake introduced new security hardware that checks for modifications before loading the bios, resulting in a brick

it'll display "bootguard verified dxe that is fail" and your laptop is dead

would be nice if someone could crack that bootguard :)

So what's best matte screen that can work with 7559?
    Does it improve SRGB accuracy?
    Where to buy it?
Do you have any long term problem when changing screen for the LG one instead of staying with default BOE screen?

I tried to set NV card for 3d only (in nv driver) and use full perf. profile with 100% minimal state of cpu, so it could be on maximum clocks, but it is not. It drops to 1Ghz, so this is a reason of low FPS drops. So I can''t say a solution is in reinstall.

BIOS: Can you find any options how to set higher perf. on battery? I can't see anything.

Hi guys, I need some help!

I bought a M.2 SSD and want to use it for my OS. The things is I've got so many steam games on my HDD that wiping it is not a good idea for me (crappy download speeds).

I wish to migrate my OS only -- sidepoint: disk management shows that my HDD hasn't been 'split' so OS is 918GB -- how can I split it so only the OS copies over as the SSD is 128GB which is way smaller that 1TB. Also, after the migration, can I simply delete the OS from the HDD without wiping it?

Help would be much-appreciated guys, thanks!

    Hi all guys,

I've been following this thread for a long time now and I'm ready to upgrade my 7559 Wifi, RAM and display. I know it has been discussed a lot but I just wanted a last thought regarding the displays:
I have found available these: LTN156HL06-C01, LTN156HL01-102 and LP156WF6-SPB1 being this last one a used one. I would go for the LTN156HL01-102 because is new and cheaper than the LTN156HL06-C01 but honestly I have no idea on which to choose so I would appreciate a last advice.

    thanks!

I found a used LP156WF6-SPB1 on ebay that was pulled from a defective ASUS I think and installed it on my 7559. It has worked like a charm for around a year now; great screen, no problems.

Yes all of them seem to be fine but the LG one it´s been used the most for upgrades from what I´ve read. If someone with the Panasonic can post some impressions would be great but if not I will go for the LG even being a used one too.
    Thanks for the feedback.

    Hey guys,

So I've both the crappy screen and the coil whine. I can live with the crappy screen but the coil whine is getting on my nerves. It has gotten worse since the beginning and I am afraid it might be damaging the cpu.

Can you guys post an adapter model that has removed the coil whine from your machine? Also, is the coil whine harmful to the laptop hardware?

    Thanks.

You can only disable Secure Boot and TPM iirc, I dont think that solves the problem.
Bootguard checks your bios vendor signature written in the main block and stops there on failure - Im not sure though...

Just wanted to post a funny thing here.

I have been running BIOS 1.0.4 on this machine since I got it in late 2016. On Windows 7 the gtx 960m was constantly ejecting itself from the machine either randomly when idle, when I wake the computer up from sleep, or when I wake it up from hibernate - then the nvidia GPU would be totally undetected and unusable until a reboot.

I tried a load of drivers and while the one posted on the dell website was the most stable, all of em still caused auto-ejects.
Then I decided to update to the newest 1.2.1 BIOS and suddenly the gtx960m doesn't auto-eject itself anymore. LOL. Incredible

    TL;DR
GPU ejected itself on super old BIOS, flashing new one fixed it. Having problems? Try a BIOS update.

EDIT: Turns out any nvidia driver above 368.22 will cause the GPU to eject no matter the BIOS.

It is interesting indeed. Since It is a cheap egpu solution, i am willing to try it but i don't have egpu nor psu in my hand right now. Uploader didn't give further details too. I think wifi slot might create a bottleneck though.

I have more information to add for anyone who has this laptop and is getting GPU ejected errors.

Turns out the gtx 960m is only getting ejected on Windows 7, and only if you are using a nVidia driver above version 368.22 (my previous post is totally wrong)

So it seems anyone running Windows 7 on these will be getting GPU ejections unless
    - Running a BIOS that has ejection error "fixed"
    - AND running nvidia drivers 368.22 or lower

EDIT: Still getting GPU ejections with 368.22, though not as often.
Maybe the drivers on the dell website are the only ones that really work...

How much heavier does it make your laptop?

Has anyone found a permanent fix to make the chassis stop coming apart from the top left side?

    Hi guys,

I have an issue, I bought a SSD for the laptop, a Western Digital SSD M.2 240Go (SATA).

However I don't know how to clean install windows 10 on it ! First of all, the BIOS isn't seeing my SSD, I can't change boot order (only have Windows something and two "Onboard NIC".

But I tried to create a bootable windows USB I found on DELL support for the i7559. The BIOS detect it all right, but when on windows recovery there is no where a option to install windows on my new SSD !! I can only make windows restore on the HDD (I don't have any choice to install it elsewhere).

I would like some help guys, thanks :)

    what I did:

formatted the SSD from within the retail windows. I downloaded the image directly from microsoft then created the USB. I booted from the USB, formatted the old windows and formated once more time the SSD. then did a clean install in the SSD.

I did tried the DELL image but was not able to get the USB to work ... that's why I downloaded the image directly from microsoft.

I see good idea, from where did you formatted your SSD/HDD, using the BIOS ? Or maybe it's built in Windows installer ?

Also, no issue from booting on the SSD since the BIOS doesn't see it ? Finally, you installed a classic Windows version, no issue with installing all the DELL drivers ?

    Thanks for your answer :)

For the DELL image I used USB 2.0 slots, while using USB 3.0 I couldn't see the USB.

well I just entered to my retail windows and formatted from there ( go to disk management), created the USB (2.0 too) and restarted but this time I let the computer boot from the USB and windows 10 install showed up, within it you can format again thats where i formated again the SSD. I installed win10 so no problems with drivers.

You need to set it to UEFI and it should see the sata drive. Verify its the correct drive before installing. You also need to enable legacy boot so the bios can see the usb drive

Well I think I might doing something wrong. Using the DELL Windows image on a USB, this is the menus I get :
(sorry it's in french, words are for many of them very close to english, and just to show you if it is normal)

I can't find anywhere to choice to make a clean install on the SSD. All the option will recover or re-install windows on the HDD.
Maybe should I use the cmd available from here and try to format the HDD, then reboot and booting on the USB and maybe it would launch a classic installation ?

    EDIT :

FINALLY, I used windows creation tool to create a new bootable USB, and it worked like a charm. So, in few words about my issue :

    - Can't change boot order ? Disable boot safety, chance UEFI to legacy, bam, you can chance boot order
    - Install a new version of windows on a computer already containing windows ? DON'T use Dell Image, download a new one, boot on the USB, format everything and install, done
