oh really? didn't know all that...about quality control and all
..so probably a good idea to wait a few weeks to see if there are any problems before i purchase then....assuming its available on the Jamaican site as soon as it is on the US site....(wont hold my breath)
-
Wow, Some of you guys have problems with everything.. Maybe the product isn't whats wrong.

Hp is horrendous you say? Why is there a
Dell Shipping Order Status and Customer Service Issues
subforum on NBR
OP, could you point to where you proved these were legit. I just dont visualize any company making such unprofessional slides.
For example:
Come on. Even Dell knows how to use photoshop to at least get rid of the white spaces. Thats preliminary stuff. It looks like you copied and pasted the images from Dell.com
Also, i dont see Dell ever saying "NOV!" or "New chipset!!"
Also, the descriptions on the Studio Slides are very poor.
Quote: "Primary Positioning. Mobility, performance and quality. Now available in beautiful"
Come on. Thats very bad, even for Dell's standards. "Now available in beautiful?" ***.
The images of the Studio 16 and 13 look horrible with the white outlines. Did you know that the Magic Wand tool is not enough? I bet the images were taken from a concept site.
Also, the images of the Studio 15 and 17 in the roadmap are fake, the current studios dont have any glossy paint cover, cept for the grey one with a contour design.
This is completely fake. Show me the "official sources" and prove me wrong.
EDIT: Come on, "Q3 Roadmap - NBs"? Dell would definately say Q3 Roadmap - Notebooks. These slides are fail. -
I had an HP, it failed on me. NEVER again with HP and their "customer service". Dell does have better customer service, but only by a LITTLE bit. The thing is, while everyone has already gone to Montevina, Dell is just standing around whistling and twiddiling its thumbs. Other companies announce and show off their products before release, Dell wont. When a new product comes out from Dell, it can take weeks for their products to come to stores to try them out since they decided to get rid of the Dell kiosks. Other companies have it available in days.
Maybe Dell wants to kill itself, maybe being number 2 isn't good enough and they should slide down even further. The fact that they released the Dell Studios so close to Montevina was a mistake when Montevina wasn't included. The fact that Dell wont show its own products in a press release online is bad because all this hype is building up over these supposedly awesome systems, and if they come out and suck, well Dell screwed up again. They don't learn, do they? -
Another point, why would some random guy (Jayson) in Mozambique suddenly get access to the slides?
Come on NBR, you have go to be kidding me if you think the slides are real.
Hardly any of his claims early on have not happened. -
We just have to wait and see.. i think we'll know in 2-3 weeks for sure! -
Oh and wait! You are widely known to friends and family as qaz333and your homeplace is the well known DownUnder!
I am accepting bets for that too!
The slides are another story. I guess you haven't followed this thread from the begining, because the points you raise are being discussed every 5 pages. Some ppl believe them, some not.
At the end of the day, we are all just waiting the refresh and most of us are just saying what we would like to have in the new Studio(?)-XPS line... -
Eh. I know i wouldn't just say i live in Mozambique for no apparent reason.
Well, i read about 7 pages, none questioning the authenticity of the slides, so i posted.
btw, m guessing the new refresh will have 9600M GT, Backlit Keyboard, Slot Loading Drive and the same design. And absolutely NO Edge to Edge Full RGb Screen. -
-
lol qaz333... you are very late.. i posted those slides in august.. and i predicted that in september new Studio desktops would be release, in october the new 12" dell would come out, there would be a refresh in the xps one line, anything else needed to be said?
AND... if you can read properly dont say that those slides are nor prof. looking.. because they are not intended for customer approval or use.. they are just a internal roadmap for partners.. boo i shouldnt even have posted them lol.. and enjoyed the wait for the new xps's. -
Also... Jayson's slides did correctly predict that Dell would be implementing Montevina in the Studios (at least the 15) in October, which they did.
They seem fine to me, however, since those were from August, you never know if Dell has other problems internally which could delay the releases further.
...or they could be really lame, and just release them as the slides say they will with a crapload of faults, and use the first wave of customers as Product Testing. >_>
Here's to hoping that the first release is actually a good release, and may it be on time. T_T -
You don't have to believe them.
-
I am guessing there is a good possibility these new Dells will be using the same chipset as the new Macbooks?
-
suppose the reason theyre taking so long is because they're waiting for Nehalem :O:O:O:O:O
.....a long shot really lol, i'm just hopeful
but almost makes sense.....right....?? right? :S -
If that were the case, then they would not have new laptops until about this time next year.
-
tic toc....
-
lol dam....ah well, the wait continues
-
-
and then in fall 09 ull be waiting for the next platform due summer 10.. lol it never ends..
-
but then.. in summer 10 youll be waiting for the new XPS due fall 10.. with the summer 10 architecture. lol
-
Besides, from reviews of Nehalem, looks like it does consume more power than Penryn at the moment (not much more... but still). So for notebooks, going in with Penryns is probably a better choice, at least until the next cycle, with die-shrunk Nehalems down to the 32nm process.
EDIT:
I just want the bloody studio xps to come out so I can finally finish comparing which Laptop I want to buy before January, when my classes start again. -_-
The studio xps had better blow me away price for performance wise... otherwise I'm more than likely going with a VAIO Z, or maybe the SR. Everything else is a major crapshoot. T_T -
I wonder if the new xps's will be anything like the new precisions just released.
i cant post a link cuz im new but go to dell's website and click the 3rd thing on the main page.
it has ddr3 memory and has a 17" RGB LED Display and more. I hope this resembles what we get but cheaper. -
-
Most of the problems are minor though. As it has been pointed out before, those that aren't in "the know" or have a good product wouldn't come here and post, so you get a very narrow perspective.
-
isnt the Vaio Z overpriced?,
-
I just got an Email from dell. Looks like another "20% to 75% off!" deals with a coupon code. Mine only gives me 20% off but that still brings an XPS Red from $2000 to $1600ca which is sort of tempting.
However, knowing these rumours I just wonder if this is an attempt to move stock before new systems come out. This deal ends on November 14th.
The systems offered in the deal were the 15.4" Inspiron, 17" Studio, and the 2 15.4" XPS laptops. -
I have yet to see anyone with proof, getting 75%...
-
I'm in Canada too ScaryFast, I just got that e-mail and a 20% coupon.
So lame... I wish they'd stop pawning off their old tech. Gimme new crap at aggressive prices, k thanks. -
-
So what's the latest news on XPS 13? Expected this week?
-
I thought the consensus was nov 11?
-
What general consensus? You mean general agreement on silly rumours?
Where are you getting any solid facts,Jayson. Unless your head of Dell Mozambique.
Coupons expiring doesnt mean a thing, its not like new laptops come out evry time a coupon expires. -
I really doubt Jayson lives in Mozambique
-
qaz333, you dont have to try to prove me wrong, just buckle in and enjoy the show. I dont work for dell. If i did you guys would still be in the dark.
-
OK GUYS.. just got a clearence sale on current XPS M1530.. AND THIS WAS ON THE TAG.
Dell XPS M1330 (New range of XPS notebooks to be released 15/11)
Dell XPS M1530 (new range of XPS notebooks to be released 15/11) -
thats what the list says at least! its a saturday i know.. what can i say.. thats what it says.. enjoy.. =)
-
Is it wrong that i can get really excited about that? I'm not sure..
Thanks man -
Well .. another 2 more weeks then..
-
Will the XPS1530 price drop any further then? I decided to order one a few days ago (I'll be around for delivery if it happens within the next few days so it made some sense).
It will be frustrating if they knock more off the price closer to the swap date (it was cheaper when I ordered than it was a few weeks ago, but not by much).
If it helps, on the UK Dell site the current discounts run until the 12th November. If the new models roll out on the 15th, then that would be 3 days worth of clearance sales (and, as it's such a short period, the amount off could be quite high?). -
Wow, that is lame.
-
well probably the discounts will stay the same... but policies change overnight.. you never know.. but yes i would say we went to early lol..
Are they launching on the 15th? probably not, probably they sell on the 15th.. probably the release of info is before.. that i still dont know.
=) -
Odd for sales to start on a Saturday. I'd think they would be released on a Tuesday (the 18th?).

But as tential said, that premium is reflected in the quality of the build. Vaios in general from what I've seen and heard have solid build quality. Additionally, the Z currently has the best discrete graphics switch availible (just flick a switch, no need to shut down or log out or anything), an incredible screen, insanely light weight for performance, and awesome battery life.
Considering that I nearly wanted to get a Latitude E4300 at around the same price, the Z is like a steal. So much more functionality and glam, and now thanks to a coupon I found, cheaper too.
With regards to the battery, there's a catch. Yea they're probably going to get hot/melt. On the other hand, Sony practically makes everyone's batteries, and when they recalled a couple years ago, the only ones not severely affected were their own batteries (...sabotage perhaps?). In that sense... a VAIO might be the safest.
I know the slides say the Studio XPS 16 would have hybrid SLI... hopefully the 13 does too, and maybe a discrete switch likes the Z would be awesome. -
11/15, eh... I'll be watching for that.
-
Like what happended before with the studios.. they were called inspirons 1535.. so ya. -
Will it be possible to get the new XPS laptops with XP installed?
