Dell Studio XPS 13 and 16 - Coming Soon?

One thing to note.. is the RGB LED and the resolution! u dont get WLED backlit with a resolution like CCFLS.. good news! hopefully those XPS 13s come with a nice resolution screen option

 

Dell must .... release new ... XPS modes ... Can't... wait.. much... longer...

 

OK im going to speculate prices..
we have the Studio 15 ata 1200usd with Montevina, 4gb, 320gb, etc..
I predict the new XPS 16 will be priced at a sub 1.5k with 4gb.. but without RGB Screen, fingerprint and those luxuries..
Now the XPS 13 at the same price.. sub 1.5k.. meaning a tag of around 1400usd, with good specs.

 

That is standard WUXGA format meaning 16:10, right???

 

I am getting confused... XPS 16 with standard WUXGA resolution...
Pricing is rather reasonable!

note the studios may get an update after the XPS release.. i mean on the graphics side.. and the flush glass screen.. we shall see.

250euro discount on m1530 and m1330 on austrian dell page... they are cleaning up the stocks.. hope they will be full of new xps soon...

 

In the "For What It's Worth" Department...

I tried to order a Studio 17 from Dell today -- the one that popped up on their web site with the RGB screen and the ATI HD 3650. After having problems getting my order to successfully show up in the cart (it said I needed to contact an agent), I called and spoke with a sales representative. He was also unsuccessful in getting my order to process, and it turns out that it was getting stuck at the ATI video card. More calls revealed that the newest configuration that's showing up on their web site is not actually available; I was told that anyone trying to order it would be contacted regarding having their order cancelled and an attempt to sell them something else.

But it was the end of the conversation that really piqued my interest. When I couldn't buy the Studio 17 the way I wanted it (hey, I like the Plum Purple and wanted the RGB screen and the dedicated video card), I mentioned that I'd just wait until the Studio line was refreshed later this month. I told him what I'd read here about the Studio XPS line coming sometime in November and he replied, "Yeah, those aren't actually scheduled for release until after the holidays."

A couple of things to note: First, he seemed completely aware of an update to the Studio line coming soon. He didn't hesitate to comment on it. Second, he didn't qualify his statement with something like "I think... " or "I can't remember for sure..." or "They haven't told us anything official..." He simply stated the Studio line would be updated "after the holidays."

I didn't press the matter any further (I was still trying to get my purple notebook with the better processor, fancy new screen, and dedicated video card, dagnabbit). And, of course, this was a sales rep taking customer orders over the phone, not some kind of press representative for Dell. It's possible he simply responded to my statement about holding off on a purchase by trying to convince me not to wait.

Still...

 

I'm really interested in the Studio XPS 16 and if this is true, I wouldn't be happy if I had to wait another 2 or 3 months. Let's hope he just said that to get a sale now.

 

DocSc00teR .. the studio line is not the studio xps line.. different things.. the XPS is coming out next week. He is probably talking about specs, or the refreshed studio line with flush glass.

I really, really, realllly hope that what you're saying is true, Jayson. So far you haven't been off so, I'm getting my hopes up. I'm on the market for a 15-16 laptop, with some gaming in mind and if the XPS16 is as good as XPS1530 with some upgrades then I'm sold.

I like a fingerprint scanner and the fact that the U330 won't ship me 4 gigs of ram and I have to do it myself makes me a little annoyed. The Sony SR isn't DDR3 ram and the Samsungs? I haven't seen a samsung for sale anywhere tell me where I can buy one with a US keyboard and not a korean one and I'll check it out!

Samsung Q310 uses DDR2 RAM.

PS. DDR3 does not improve performance over DDR2 RAM. It only slightly improves battery life.

 

For ****s sake guys. Jayson is some random guy from Mozambique, not some insider from Dell. Do you, Jayson, know that your made-up slides and rumours have caused many to hold back on a studio or m1530 and instead wait for the supposed XPS Studio laptops? Do you feel any guilt at all?

And how do you know there will be 16:9 ratio laptops next? Simple. You DON'T. You (Jayson) are just basing this all off logic and wild rumours and done up some badly done slides and posted a thread on NBR. Do not trust this person, if you want a m1530 or a studio, BUY NOW if you need it now.

Bring it on Jayson. Defend your case. Tell me why you're right and I've made a horrible mistake.

I kinda agree with your outrage.
But, as people have said in here before, he def. isn't from Mozambique and he's name isn't Jayson. He has been fairly accurate with some info he's had so far. So what I would do is wait for a week (since he says that the XPS's are coming next week) and then the whole forum can start blaming and bashing him. I think we could just hold on a week, lots of us have been waiting so far anyway, what's one week gonna do then?

 

jayson is correct i also received confirmation that states 'new xps range 15/11' and have a pic that found its way to me that shows the exact same look that is in jayson's xps 13 slide. Unfortunately i can't upload, but it looks hot!

I SPENT HOURS DESIGNING THOSE NEW XPS'S and made those slides out of nothing.. I predicted that they where going to launch a studio desktop in slim and MT version.. and dell listened to me? Are you shure it is the 13"? It looks more like 15" or 16". In the previous 1330 the keyboard was different
