    Wow!
Thanks D4m, that looks great. The cover of the notebook doesn't seem to be glossy, wich is what normal people like :)

Thanks for the pic though I have to admit that the design doesn't blow me away. Anyway, I don't care that much about things like that as long as the laptop is great.

And don't blmae qaz333 - didn't we all feel like him? I mean come on - all the waiting is frustrating. Furthermore his comments make sense (no, I don't mean to criticise Jayson). or maybe he was just teasing Jayson.

Where did you get the pic from? Are you sure it isn't fake?

im kind of new at this but im looking for a laptop and was set on the m1330 before reading about the new studio xps.. it looks good.. do you reckon the specs will be similar or better than the ones on the m1330? should i wait or is the m1330 a good choice to go with anyways?
any input would be appreciated. thanks! :)

I'd wait, it will have the new platform and other goodies. It will cost more though, so it depends on your budget. We should see these next week, hopefully.

In that case, I think you should probably order the M1330. They probably won't get the new ones shipping, especially custom order for a few weeks.

    janox1x2x3 ... lol.. ya i wish dude..
DELL introduces its systems depending on the market situation in each country.. sometimes it may comeout first in japan.. or the states.. sometimes in australia.. they have business models in place that predict these things for better revenue outcome. so no one knows where it will pop up first or world wide the same time.

If that picture is any indication of how Dell will style the new XPS, forget it. I blame HP for the so called "coolness factor" of over glossing EVERYTHING! Not only will it collect fingerprints and other gunk like mad crazy, but a mirrior should remain anywhere but the computer desk, which this looks like. Gloss coating is also easier to get scratched and eventually looks tacky, if not already. Maybe Dell is soley going for the female market with computer mirrors?

hmm? actually these so called glossy computers sell much more than normal ones.. believe me.. i sell computers. and if u very business minded.. get a latitude.. these are multimedia centric pc's.. so yes i think i will sell them better.. i just hope its not all plastic.

Hmm... I think I'm in agreement. I'm anal already about fingerprints on iPod. I can't imagine how annoyed I'd be with a Laptop like that.

No matter what, I don't think Dell can really totally impress me enough not to splurge on a Z. With the lack of news/specs... I'm not terribly optimistic.

Every day that passes by... the more I want to just go for the Vaio Z. >_>
I think it's time I just bite the bullet and go for it.

ugh, ever since HP made popular that imprint finish, seems like every manufacturer is doing the same. I don' think Dell is as bad, but Asus has became horrible at it.. nearly all their new models look like something HP would make.. a far cry from the sleek models they made a few years ago.

Ugh tell me about it. The Sony Z is not missing ONE feature that I want. Infact the stupid laptop made me want more such as a 1600 by 1200 screen (or whatever extremely large res they have). I mean the Sony Z goes overboard in features and there has not been one laptop released that remotely touches it. 6 hours of batterylife + the ability to run with a gfx card if you need it is amazing. Then the ultra hot resolution, 4 gigs of DDR3 ram, I mean why can't NO other company at least get every one of these features but maybe the resolution in? Companies still switch back to DDR2 ram on a portable where I know people say it doesn't make that much of a difference if any but any difference of batterylife is worth it on a portable of this size. It's ridiculous how weak other companies are in the 13 inch range compared to Sony.

Well... I'd rather go for the 9300M which hasn't had any issues reported about it whatsoever, and isn't frying people's mobos along with itself unlike the 8400 and 8600. :|

I don't need to game hardcore on my laptop, I built my own desktop for the hardcore stuff. About the only thing I'm losing out on by not waiting for the Studio XPS is a potential Hybrid SLI which the Z doesn't have.

The X4500 integrated can already handle H.264 playback no problem, and lighter games like WC3. The 9300M should have no problems even running something like Team Fortress 2. I'm more worried hybrid SLI is going to add a lot of heat to a notebook that won't be able to cool it properly. :S

Part of my problem is that my last laptop was a Dell, and that thing was totally overpriced for what I ended up with and the build quality was incredibly subpar, and then it killed itself by overheat. (...and it wasn't even an XPS with 8400 or 8600 GPU...) I was a stupid consumer then, and I have difficulty trusting in their product quality for price now. I think I wanted to believe that Dell would make up for the slack over the years, but it seems since 3 years ago they've been going down hill.

    EDIT:
araharja, the Saturday in question is the 15th, not the 8th.

I sincerely hope that Dell hasn't gone the shiny-fingerprint-magnet-look way. The microsatin finishes that the XPS's and the Studio's had were very, very cool and felt great! Maybe they add the shiny look as an option and still leave room for customers to pick some other solid colors with microsatin, like the Studio laptops have now...

The part I'm most worried about is the palmrest. That is one of the most stupid places to put a glossy surface as that is the most likely place you'd get fingerprints and such on a laptop.
