still worth it b4 was 150$ + to get the 2 GB with 120 HD

You don't have to remove the keyboard to replace one of the ram modules.
Both ram slots can be accessed from the removable panel under the laptop on the Vostras. -
On the Vostro 1400 both of them are on the bottom. But, on the Vostro 1500, one is under the keyboard, the other is on the bottom.
-
On the 1500 one module is under the keyboard and one is behind the bottom access panel. On the 1400 both may be under the access panel, don't know 100% though. -
My 1400 is showing In Production! Does that mean I can expect it to ship before the Aug 6 Est Ship Date?
-
Lately with all the things that has been happening with the m1330 we sense that the whole tracking system is BS. Historically, however, Dell ships on or before that date. I've been in production (build stage) since Friday (the day I ordered it). So I'm set on the fact that it's BS status report.

Finally! I got what i wanted.

It's $100, not $50. Unless you are a brick without any content inside your head, you can't mess up your laptop. There is also no worry about voiding the warranty because if something goes wrong, just place the original RAM's back in when you send it in/have someone come to your home/business. I personally wouldn't try to sell the RAM's, it's just not worth the time and you can still save $100 on w/o selling the RAM's.
There is nothing "professional" about what Dell does with your RAM. They see a hole, and they plug it in. Most of those people can't even spell the word RAM, I don't see any professionalism in that.
If you have money to throw away, then it's cool. I would personally donate any extra dough I have to spare to the charity than dell. I am just trying to save people with some of their hard earned money. -
woo just ordered my very first laptop or any computer of my own for that matter (im only 16.. yes i did pay for it myself lol)

You better hope the guy that's building your Dell isn't reading this forum.
-
Congrats! What's your estimated ship date?
-
i beleive it was the 6th of august? i HOPE it ships before then. lol
-
If he/she can't spell "RAM" or "monkey", I am not too worried about them trying to read. -
is it writng "In Production(Build Stage)" like this?
Mine is ony "In Production" .. -
Mine is only "In Production", too. Call the 800 status number (800-433-9014) to see what particular stage it's at.
-
I called some CSR guy today and he said the chassis are in backorder. They are getting a ton this week and they will begin production of the majority of the laptops. He said the 7th (for me) was the worst case scenario and would likely be finish in 2 weeks. Hopefully he is correct
-
All chassis's? What Vostro model did you order?
-
How the crap could the chassis be on back order? I ordered it the opening day? How could they sell a product they down have in their possession?
-
at least mine was he said cause they got a lot of orders for it. I got the 1400
-
The estimated ship date was at the end of the month, they didn't say it would ship within a week or anything along those lines. So far they are keeping up to what they stated. -
The bluetooth module us on sale at Dell for $20 + shipping. You could probably find it on eBay for less. It is just a finger size module. I have one on my M1210 and honestly, I only use it with my MS Bluetooth mouse because I don't like the traditional dongle sticking out.
Those with 1GB of RAM and plan to sell them, I wish you luck. With many people going for 2GB, 2x512MB become so cheap that you could buy one stick for as low as $25. You are better off keeping them, and wait until the RAM are out of production, and sell them again when the prices are up again.. (look at how much PC2100, 2700 these days) -
Forgive me gents but I don't see how you people are getting such fantastic prices with your Vostro's.
This is what I recently ordered from Dell to replace my P105-S9722.

Am I missing something? -
Unfortunately, this happens all the time when the shareholders or the braintrust need to jack up the stock price. They take your money first and worry about keeping you happy by delivering the goods in a timely manner second.
-
sluzi26, did you change warranty?
What Wi-fi I must to choose? Do you recommend me Wi-Fi N? -
No I did not on either option. Wi-Fi N is only good if your gonna be near a connection that supports it. Thankfully my University does
-
I think 3year warranty increase price very much...
Hm, but Wi-Fi N is compatible with actual standard Wi-Fi, right? -
damn that sucks about the chasis being on backorder, no wonder we are all stuck in pre-production. that is damn frustrating, i feel even worse for those m1330 guys
-
how did they take my money? they charge your credit card when the item is shipped.
-
Here's a huge picture of a vostro 1500. Don't know if you have all seen it already. Looks nice. Here
-
Yes. The Wi-Fi N cards are compatible with wireless-A and wireless-G as well.
-
did somone already got or about to get is new vostro ???
-
No, this is 34 pages of people dreaming about getting them.
-
lol ! i guess not even close to get them ah ?
and this dell guys sais : " oh, they always give late shiping date but it always arrive earlier"....
ya right ! -
yay, my vostro is finally in-production
-
What you suck 1stStrike
When did it go into production?
-
not sure, but it wasnt yesterday. all of the order status pages at dell says its in the production stage, rather than one page saying its in "pre-production" while another saying its "in production"
-
both of mine are in production,
1st one i ordered on 7/10
2nd one i ordered on 7/16
both are Vostro 1400, smart-value with no modifications. -
Does the phone number say it's in production or pre-production?
-
didnt check the phone. does it work off hours since its automated?
-
Yeah. Although yours will say Build stage probably :/. ****ing mine STILL say's Pre-Production. Infuriating me.
-
you are right. But some time they charge as soon as production starts.
-
How did you get 7200 rpm HDD? -
i feel your pain, im in the same boat.
-
yup. just called the automated system and its says im in the build stage
-
This is like making me mad, heh. I ordered last Tuesday and I'm still in pre-production.
-
what means "Build Stage"? So if it is in build stage now, how many days I have to wait for shipping? Any guess?
-
About a week.
-
im guessing we will not going to see the vostro b4 august . .
-
maybe a 1400 or 1000. i doubt we'll see a 1500 till august
-
why? people who ordered laptops that weren't supposed to ship until after august have already shipped.
I beleive it was the 1420.
I know its not a vostro, but still. Those dates aren't always correct.
i got a call from dell today telling me mine was in production already.
Dell Vostro is here!!!
