Yo , mine is a Sony and its made in japan and also the code is RD857 which is the effected one but strange is after an PPID verification it said "no need for replacement" so does it mean mine is uneffected?
Has anyone experience things like this?
-
-
El-Prodigy, that is a bit too close, without needing the replacement. You may want to call Dell in a few days (after the rush) and double check that.
The way Dell is handling this, well .... it's the reason I just bought my 2nd Laptop from them, (E1405 not affected). Becomming a big fan of Dell.
Unless !! .......... that 4.1 million should really be 8.2 million?, hmmm we'll see. -
Mine is not affected ...... hoorayyy
-
Mines lucky not affected, but close. I cant afford to have any more problems with my computer.
-
My 6400's is fine and I checked the 1300's anyway, which is also fine.
-
They listed model# C5446 is affected.
Mine is C5447
Maybe I should give Dell a call -
checked mine its a RD857 one but the ppid thingy said its fine so im happy
now if it ignites and burns my crotch i will NOT be happy lol -
It would be nice if I could get in to the website to verify! It seems my 1705 has the C5446 [9 cell] which is on the list. And I purchased mine 2 days after the cut off, but it came from the "OUTLET" so you better check 'em reguardless of date. Oh, and their toll free number is real "helpful"- "were to busy to talk to you, go to our impossible to get into website!" [summarized in my words] ggrrrrrrrrrr.
-
Lol. I had two batteries from my xps2. and what do you know, its good batteries. Shoots I was hoping for a new set of batteries.
-
I'm safe. "Made in Korea"
-
what happens if u arent home, or if no1 is home when they ship it?
-
thankfully my e1705 isn't affected, but when i get home i have to check my latitude d810
-
what a relief, my battery doesn't need to be changed...
-
Thought I'd start a poll and see how many of us are affected.
-
Luckly mines not, it would be a real nightmare, since I start college tomorrow. My friend who has an E1505 is affected though. Hes actually driving to Iowa State right now to start college. Hes in trouble.

Thankfully my battery wasn't listed...although there still is a problem. Is it bad that the white sticker with the barcodes on it is NOT on my battery? They never put it on. Battery works great though.

I don't suppose that an old D400 battery could ever be involved in this, right?

I do not have a Dell lappy but a Sony laptop...wonder if that has the bad battery too and the reason for my motherboard being fried?????? It always ran hot.
Hmmm....any ideas? -
My experience is that any order requires a signature or they will re-attempt delivery the next day. -
im pretty sure mine is, i have 2 9 cell batteries, pain..in...the..ass. i have college in 2 wekks also, how long does it take to get batteries? any ideas
-
Fortunately, I don't have a bad battery!
-
-
im not terribly worried, i might not even bother changing batteries because the e1705 is a little unweildly to carry around all day, it usually on ac

I am going to be an Exchange student in Ecuador in a week and a half. I can't have all of this **** come up now. I just had my dvd drive replaced because it would skip non stop, and they made me reformat once already. I can't be doing this this close to going to South America. I need to get my Passport stuff finished... I am probably not going to get my battery replaced.
-
4.1 million, but barely any of us are affected?
-
this is kind of off-topic, but i just saw the news on t.v. and it said it will probably cost Dell and Sony 400million dollars or something. Do you guys think this will affect dell's prices on future laptops (higher or lower)? especially how this will probably hurt dells image alot.
-
RD857 but no need for replacement!
-
my system is luckily not affected.
I start uni in 3 weeks, so this would suck big time! -
Mine is C5447, Dell is recalling C5446.....
So technically I'm not affected......but just one digit away -
Nope ....
-
I have a RD857 model, but apparently it doesn't need to be replaced...
-
-
Fortunately, "almost" doesn't count. They recalled F5132 and mine is F5133.
-
I just checked with Dell, and my battery is NOT being recalled. I have a battery made in Korea, and from what the website says batteries made in China and Japan are deffective, not Korea.
-
This has got to be one of those times in my life where i'm almost happy that something I own is not made in Japan. =) Imagine on of those things burning up on someone's lap. Sure leave's a lot for imagination. =)

Metamorphical Good computer user
We have enough threads about the battery recall. So I am merging these two and keeping the poll. Have fun voting.
-
Neither the 6 cell or 9 cell are affected by my model, below:
-
wow , I'm glad that many people who got RD857 doesn't effected either so that's mean I'm not the only one
but I won't be happy if the website turn out to be mistaken and my laptop explode ,if that happen I would take the burning laptop and smash it to Michael's head -
-
It actually says that it's made in Japan, China or Korea. Mine for example is a Sanyo made battery and it's made in Japan. (Not effected by Recall)
Haha go Sony! -
Wow, this is got to be serious. Imagine my surprise when I saw this on the news lol.
-
-
MMMMMMM....What does one do with 4.1 million defective batteries? Still cant get into web site!
-
The low number of replacements is a bit surprising. Just shows you how many millions of laptops dell is selling. None of my offices 5 dells need replacing eiter. -
Well, I called tech support to get my install cd's {they are sending 6} I mentioned that I have I have not been able to get through on the web site to check my battery status, so she looked it up for me. She says its ok. Even though it has the 0C5446 #. That is good. Its a 9 cell, wonder if that matters? She gave me a phone number so I can varify for my self, 1-866-342-0011 which I intend to do. I tried once and got into the "holding pattern" but had to answer a more important incoming call.
-
I checked both my batteries and niether one is on the list. I wonder if they are recalling more 6cells or 9cellls. Does it even make a difference?

Is the battery on the XPS M1210 (as of Aug 16/06) fall under the recall? Or does the M1210 not fall under recall at all?
-
no...............
-
I'm little surprised that only 6 saying their batteries been recalled. I really expected it to be lot more (out of 5 million!!!!) than 6.
Dell recalling 4.1 million Batteries (8/14)
