So just to confirm, not sure if the "no..........." was directed to my question, the M1210 battery is NOT being recalled correct?
-
Good, I was in luck. Mine was replaced on July 20th. Just in case, I checked on the battery recall page and said mine was not to be replaced. Good thing cause is too much hassle.
PD: I know they said July 18th but one has to be precaucious. -
I don't mind having my battery for a change although I've not yet receive my Latitude D620, just as long as my investment don't explode!! If I were to choose once more, NO MORE DELL!! Not even SONY!! Sh*t.. m regreting now for purchasing DELL.. It's not easy to spare that sum of money these day to buy a lappy man.. And for those who's battery not in the list, don't get too happy yet.. It might be recalled next year.. DELL, don't ruin us... Plz SONY-san, give us good batteries if you were to supply to DELL.. Arigato gozaimasu..
-
right, i'm going to go buy me a macbook pro, because those don't heat up and melt varnish off of tables, and they don't blow up
o well, i love my dell. it has completecare. -
you are quite free to refuse shipment on your dell and/or return within 21 days. if you are that concerned i suggest you do so.
please hurry as i said, you only have a limited amount of time.
good luck.
also, remember that computer is not an investment. investments increase in value over time (hopefully). computers do not. they are consumer goods meant to be used, thrown away, and replaced. a computer is tool, not an investment -
just checked and mine isnt being recalled. my battery was made in korea - are the batteries being recalled made in specific country?
-
There have been reports of Acer and Apple having the same problem. We also know Sony supplies these cells to multiple vendors. I commend Dell for stepping up to the plate here. I am a bigger Dell fan than ever now. They have showed they care about there customers by spending alot of money and resources over someone elses (Sony) manufacturing defects. This a manufacturing defect not a design defect, from what we know at this time I lay the blame entirely on Sony.
-
I'm in the clear - Dell Latitude D620 - Korean made battery that's not on the list.
-
Have any of you tried too get a free battery even though yours isnt affected, I did and they sent me one!
-
Yay, I get mine replaced. Thank God because I checked my battery wear and its already up to 22%. I hope Dell sends me the 9 cell battery that I bought.
-
I just got my replacement battery today
I'm surprised that Dell was this prompt with this issue, especially after they told me it could take up to 75 days for a replacement - it took only 4 for me.

anyone notice how similar things have happened to apple and i've heard rumours of acer having similar issues, yet dell is the one who gets the bad publicity?
also i noted the other day that after the recall was mentioned all over the news/papers in the uk the day after curiously dell shares on the ftse were up
kudos to dell for good customer service, although they said they'd phone me back the other day and im still waiting lol -
And regarding to your comment that computer isn't an investment, I actually don't quite agree with that. Indeed laptop itself doesn't increase in value over time yet it is the output that gives me the value in return. And the return is far more greater than the value in terms of money. -
-
Well of course I m proud, Dell is replacing all the bad batteries made in the past 2 years, many people have already got a new laptop and some wont recall so there are many "spare" batteries that Dell doesnt need. When I called I told them that my batt exploded erasing the serial nr, when they asked me too send it as proof I told them I already threw it away, so they sent me one. So now I have 2 good batteries, you guys should try this too I mean ther is a small possibility that even if your lappy was made in August a bad batt got into you system without anyone noticing.
-
Let's not make dell into a wonderful hero here. It seems as if Dell and Sony knew about this issue for over 10 months ago and chose not to respond. Although I normally don't see Dell doing this, I certainly see Sony doing it.

Wow, a thief. Nice morals. -
-
Well my Dell was made before July 19th so my battery could easily be affected as well so I see no reason why I shouldnt get a replacement
-
A question out of topic. How long should a battery last on an E1705 before needing to recharge. Mine lasts maybe 45 minutes while surfing the net- is that normal?
-
-
-
Cool my battery is recalled, so will they send me a 9cell- I bought that one or 6cell.

I have a RD857 model, but when I entered the serial number it says it doesn't need to be replaced? Should I worry and demand for a replacement?
-
-
^^ I wasn't trying to score a new battery. My battery is quite new. I just purchased my lappy last June. The fact that the model of my battery is RD857 really worries me.
Edited: I finally contacted Dell. I expressed my concerns and was transferred to the Supervisor. At some point, our chat session was disconnected. But the Supervisor was kind enough to call me on the phone. He reassured me that my battery is safe, and there's nothing to worry about. But to be absolutely positive, he asked me to email him a photo of the serial number to double check it. My battery is safe! Now, I feel much better! -
Does anybody know where I can buy an extra battery for Inspiron 9400/E1705for a good price? I'm in Canada which is a problem because most online store I found don't deliver to Canada. Should I be concert that some online stores might try to sell me a "recalled" battery?
-
It may be completely obvious, but I'd like to ask anyway... Does this problem affect Sony VAIO laptops? I bought mine at the start of August and am going to university in a week, so it's important I get to the bottom of this!!
-
Sony doesn't use Sony batteries in the Viao series. I got my new Samsung battery. It has better charge rate than my old Sony battery.
-
i DONT KNOW BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH ME
MY PPID CONTAINS RD857 ,BUT AFTER I CHECKED MY PPID THROUGH DELL WEBSITE THE RESULT WAS "NO NEED FOR REPLACEMENT"
IF U GOT AN ANSWER SEND IT TO MY EMAIL , "[email protected]"
