Flamingo Pink 1420

I can't believe that my order is still the only one that I've seen ship. I got it last Friday and it's working great. Hope you guys get yours soon

 

Well, my 1520 laptop is in boxing, but...my matching flamingo pink mouse shipped!

I ordered a Flamingo Pink 1420 too, on July 19, 2007. Mine is STILL in the early phases of production. Wish it would come on or at least around my ESD of 9/5-9/6, but with the amount of delays i'm not sure.
But, it was a good price, I like the computer, so I'm willing to wait. I will just have to settle for not having it for the first bit of school.

 

Mine is supposed to ship today.
Still in build stage as of 10:30 AM CDT...

Looks like I am probably buying a Sony tomorrow.
My daughter can't wait any longer...

 

I've been following this thread for a little while...just now joining it, though. I read this post on the "Direct2Dell.com" forum. If you haven't read that page, you probably should.

"Hey everyone that ordered a pink notebook I would advise you to cancel your order ASAP. I finally got through to an operator that was not in India who told me that the pink color was never shipped out in any computer and has yet to be received by the company. She said the earliest ship date of that would be Mid November but there are so many orders from July that anyone who ordered late July or August wont see theres till December or if they cant get the color all pink orders would be cancelled. Dont keep hope and keep wasting your time cancel the order and go to a Best Buy or get the pink SONY which ships out in 1 day.

Who knows if that CSR was right or not because some of y'all say you have yours. It's encouraging to know that people actually DO have their pink laptops out there.

Keep posting on here when you receive yours so the rest of us have some hope!!

Also, have any of y'all gotten any sort of a compensation for the wait time on these things?? Let me know...Thanks!

 

My husband talked to a CSR this morning and she said that they finally received all the parts and that mine was in testing and she guarantees that I'll get it by 9/10, if not before. I called the automated number and it still says I'm in build. So, I don't know if she's lying or the automated number hasn't been updated yet. We've decided, though, that if it doesn't get here by the next ESD, then we are going to cancel. My husband said she did seem to have more information than other ones that seemed to just be reading a generic script. So we'll see what happens.

 

Just got pushed to 9-7.

Called, said I was ready to cancel.
Escalated to a supervisor, he immediately offered $125 credit after it ships if I don't cancel...
So that, plus free next day shipping, plus the $100 coupon...
Guess I'll wait one more week.

Oh yea, and how are y'all are able to tell if the computers have been made/boxed/shipped, etc? Is that somewhere online or do you have to call for it?

Has anyone physically seen a Flamingo Pink 1420 laptop?? I think it's a dream we will all wake from and see that Dell has any color of laptop you would want as long as it is BLACK! Henry Ford sold a million Model T's using that slogan!!

 

Yeah, no way was that CSR right. My laptop is in boxing, and I'd love to know how they'd be boxing it without the lid- not probable at all.

Have hope! Slowly but surely flamingo pink will emerge from the bowels of build!

Well DHL was supposed to deliver my Flamingo Pink 1420 after 2:30 today but instead came at 1:30 p.m. So I missed the delivery. They are coming back tomorrow so I took off work to wait for it to be delivered. I'll let you know what it looks like when I receive it. I was really excited about seeing it and now I have to wait another day. Oh well, it seems like this is always happening with this computer - some delay or another.

Just when I had a ray of hope. My daughter and my wife are PISSED.

 

What!! They delayed to Sept. 29???? What are you going to do?

 

I don't know yet.
I am a state government employee, so I am calling our contracts lady tomorrow to see if she can help me put pressure. Maybe see if the pink is the hold up, they can change the color. Not the best resolution, but we need the laptop.

I would make sure you call if you DO NOT want to cancel, they automatically cancel a lot of other peoples orders who do not confirm that the new date is okay.

Premium Deep Metallic Pink sounds like a different color than Flamingo (actually, it sounds nicer). I've never seen that option.

Who knows what color it really is, since few people have seen Pink 1420's.

 

Mine says "deep metallic pink" too. But on my email it says Flamingo Pink. I'm sure its the same thing.

Well, I am trying to get hold of our State purchasing people.
Maybe I can find a way to talk to Dell Corporate.
My daughter is even willing to change the color.

Why is it they can get pink paint for the 1520 but now the 1420. I still have not seen anyone say they got the 1420 in pink. only 1520's shipped. Anyone know why?

I'm with Abigail on this one, I want proof that a Pink 1420 exists. I've only heard of/seen Pink 1520's. Keep us posted.

 

I'd also like to see a pink 1720/21 ship. I haven't seen one of those go out either.

Heh...I'm still getting it after I leave for school, but I have a nice mom who's willing to drive it up to me when it comes. I don't expect it before Tuesday, but my guess is I'll get it Wednesday the earliest. I ordered the sling bag in brown and blue too, which is still "in production."

Did anyone else get a mouse too?

I got the bag (pink and white), but no mouse. I wish I would have got the mouse though, they're easier to use then the ones on the notebooks. If I EVER get my pink lappy..maybe I can get a mouse too.

 

The pink and white ones looked cute, but I figured I'd get it wicked dirty so I went for the chocolate color so the dirt will just blend in.

The mouse is really cute, but very small. My hands are fairly small, but the mouse was much smaller. I have a logitech at work that I use as well as one at home that are much more comfortable to hold, but I assume that portability is a huge factor. It isn't at all bulky and should only make a tiny lump in the bag.

 

Gloriedstar, Did you get your 1420 PINK? Are you positive it shipped? Do you have a tracking number?? I placed my order on 07/17 and it still says "in production"! I still want to see a photo of a pink 1420 not 1520, I still think they don't exist.Has anyone gone to a Dell kiosk in a mall and seen one??

 

Aha, so it looks like Linda T. is an actual person with a 1420 pink in her hands! Maybe she'll post a pix of it so we can all drool!

 

The kiosk at our mall has every color except pink!!! I think only one exists...and Linda T. has it!!

 

I'm taking it to my daughter on Sunday and I will try and post a picture of it then. It really is a very pretty metallic pink. At the Kiosk at the mall, they do not have the pink cover. I hope you guys all get yours soon. I really think what helped me is I got ahold of a lady named Jessica who was management and she looked up my order and put some type of priority on it. The laptop was in boxing stage within a week of talking to her. If I had not talked to her, I still don't think I would have had the pink Dell.

I do have a tracking number though, so I know it's shipped. And there's no Dell kiosk in my area, so I haven't even seen any of the new Dells at all.

Torn between a Macbook, Sony CR, or something else.

We haven't canceled our Dell order yet....

Wow, Linda T. recieved the Flamingo Pink 1420. It gives me tons of hope on my notebook----although I do see she had ordered some time before mine. I see some others with the same ESD as me now 9/5 but ordered later. I really hope that for ordering a couple of weeks earlier than those people that I have some sort of priority.

I go back on campus on Labor Day so of course I won't be able to get it before then but I need it ASAP.

 

u 2?... I haven't seen any 1720/1721s go out except for those that were ordered in early June Im guessing right when the colors rolled out. In July/ August...haven't seen any of those 17 inches rolled out.
