Flamingo Pink 1420

I talked to a CSR yesteray and asked if I was going to be delayed since there a still quite a few pink 1420's ordered in July that have not gone out, and he said "no, their orders being delayed will not effect your order shipping on time"....WHAT!!! how could it not have an effect on my shipping date? I can't wait to get it, but, I don't expect to get it before someone who ordered in July. I think they just want to string us along as long as possible. I can't wait to find out what happens with my order on Tuesday.
He also said, nothing on my notebook was on backorder...sure we'll see!

 

Well, OK- I don't know how much it'll help anyone else, but who have you all called so far? I called the sales people (1-800-289-3355) and just kept saying other until I reached a human being. He was the most helpful and polite person I talked to, and he said he emailed someone somewhere about giving my laptop priority or something. He answered every question I asked, and he didn't seem to be reading from a script- I could hear him typing in the background every time he paused to find out an answer for me.

No one else I talked to gave me any information I didn't all ready know. That is the only thing I did, and I ended up with my laptop shipping more than a week early. It may have been coincidence, but I think it may have helped...

We ended up with a Toshiba. 15.4 inch, but still a nice laptop. Only $650 or so at Best Buy.

I completely understand going out and getting a different computer. I called Dell on Wednesday afternoon to cancel my order and magically they told me it shipped that day. I about fell over. I was going to get a Sony Vaio CR in pink. It was on sale at Office Max for $1199 and it was pink. I'm happy I got the Dell because that is really what my daughter wanted but they did take alot of joy out of this laptop for me due to all of the problems.

Well, just 3 more days and we will see if we get a shipping/tracking number or another delayed shipping notice. I've been waiting so long that I forgot why I really wanted a Dell!! My son is in Iraq. He ordered a 1520 and had it in 10 DAYS. I would not mind if Dell told me my order is held up because they give any serviceperson in Iraq or Afghanistan first priority. That's what it should be. I would wait forever for it. Just tell me WHAT the delay is........ We hae bought 5 Dell computers but I bet we won't buy another.

 

I called to speak to a Sales Rep today and had her bring up my order. Since I ordered through small business she couldn't see everything as far as a ship date and such but she could see what I ordered. She says that my 2 back ordered items are the Color and the Processor. I asked her how other pink laptops where going out if pink was back ordered. She says they paint in batches and that could be why some have gone out and others haven't....

but if nothing is back ordered then I guess the next time they paint the pinks urs should be going out... and its really disenheartening for her to tell me that my processor is still back ordered when my newest ESD is 3 days away... So depressing...

One more question.. when I look at the Dell website, the only 1420 with a color delay is the pink, it's only 10 daysnow (down from 16), does that mean we still have an additional 10 days before they get any pinks in??

 

I don't think so, I think that's supposed to be factored into your initial ESD. We all know how that goes though...I'm really curious if Dell paints in color patches. It seems like large amounts of blues go out, then large amounts of reds, and so on. But I haven't seen a large batch of pink go out yet.

hi everyone I don't think i'll ever get my laptop. I called dell yesterday for the 3rd time (hope I don't downgraded on some list for all my pissed off calls) and all I got was next day shipping and another confirmation that my laptop is held up in production b/c of the pink screen i ordered. argh!

 

I think the large batch of pinks will go out this week.... wishful thinking!

 

That would be amazing...school started 3 weeks ago.

 

You may have it in time for NEXT semester! MAybe we can all wrap them and put them under our Christmas Tree for ourselves!

Looks like we are in the same boat sunshine. But I can last the first little bit without it, but once I start getting assignments I am going to have find something else to use.

Here's something I got from the chat earlier:

Agent (Sanjeev Kumar): "In your case we had a shortage for the color you have chosen due to which the order was delayed."
Agent (Sanjeev Kumar): "But Dell expects a bulk of the order to get shipped by 05th and 06th of this month."
Agent (Sanjeev Kumar): "It seems we have the color available and your can be shipped by then."

 

I started on Last Wednesday August 29.... hopefully I'll get it before I have any programming projects! Cause I definitely don't want to install Eclipse on my family desk top

 

I wonder what Dell considers "a bulk".....

 

Well I took a few pictures of my daughter's pink 1420 and now I just have to figure out how to post it. I'll work on it today so you guys can actually see what the pink 1420 looks like. My daughter just loved the color and size. She had already started college so she was thrilled to finally receive it.

It says online I won't get my order via DHL until Thursday. I was hoping for it to come tomorrow or wednesday. And when my mouse shipped, they delivered it a day later than the ETD. So mean...

My Dell CSR promised me today that mine would be shipped by 9/7/07 (this Friday) and upgraded to overnight delivery. We'll see!

Bad news...Dell's promises mean nothing... new ESD.. 10/18/07!!! AHHHH!!!!

 

Bummer, It looks like the Goddess of Pink let us all down. That new date means it's 3 months waiting for me, that is if it's a REAL date not another fictitious date to make us wonder about. If that's what I hear tomorrow it looks like Best Buy will be getting my business. I save the 7% sales tax also.
My letter is ready to go! Looks like Linda got the only one they completed. I wonder what the timing is on white ones??

The ESD on ALL colors except pink is Sept 25....this is such a bummer!

 

Ahhhh!! I'm so annoyed right now. AngieSTL...I was really hoping their "promises" meant something. Guess not.

I am moving in two weeks so I purposely ordered my comp. in plenty of time before I move. With moving/changing my address/forwarding mail...who knows if I'll ever get my laptop.
