At least you guys got your bags. I haven't even gotten that yet. Besides, how long does boxing last? I thought only a couple of days. It's like they're teasing us. Like, Hey it's built, but we're going to make you wait just a little bit longer.
I'm in for a road trip. When do we leave?

 

A few more days of waiting, I bet they'll all be shipped by tomorrow.

 

Yay! They're coming in!! I was in boxing for almost 3 days. It seemed like forrrrever. But then it came right on time. Can't wait for y'all to get yours!

 

OMG, mine is SHIPPED! As of tonight. I checked about 10:50pm EST and it's shipped, but as of a few hours ago it was still in boxing.

Shouldn't they have shipped them pretty much the same time since we went into boxing the same day? Mine is still in boxing as of this morning.

 

You would think... but then again, you would think also that since you ordered a week before me that you would get yours first. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for yours to ship today.

 

Mine shipped!! Yay!! But, it's showing 3-5 business days delivery instead of next day like they promised. WTH? There's no tracking info available except that its expected to be delivered 9/24/07-9/26/07. My husband is calling them now, but I don't know what they can do about it now since it's already shipped. I had next day shipping showing up the entire time after they promised it until the last time my husband called them, then it mysteriously changed to 3-5 days. I have no idea why. So, I guess I'll have to wait until next week to get it. At least it's on its way.

See? Mine says Next Business Day but the EDD is 3+ days. Maybe that's just a formality and it will arrive sooner anyway. Will post updates if DHL comes - I also have the bluetooth card that I ordered the other day, due to arrive today. So if that comes and the computer doesn't, I'll know to stop hoping for it to come today.

 

My husband just got off the phone with dell and they gave him a tracking number and said that it is due to be delivered tomorrow. Of course DHL can't find my tracking info yet, but I'll let you know if it comes tomorrow.

 

It Shipped!! It shipped!!!! Ahhh!!! I can't wait! Do I need to call into work tomorrow so I can sit around and wait????

What am I going to do with my new free time...not calling the 1-800 number?? I may need to take up a new hobby......

 

OMG! DHL came today! I got it, I got my... uh... bluetooth module. Maybe tomorrow for my flaminga? Tracking info still not on the Dell site, but I'm hopeful.

 

Mine was delivered 10 AM the following day... my page said the same thing DHL Express Ground :-\... 3-5 days... but it was just BS (thank goodness)... congrats on the beautiful pink lappies going home... I'm @ work right now... and I miss mine terribly!...

 

I've decided to camp in my front yard tonight......

 

I will probably not sleep a wink and be up early again tomorrow morning... and hopefully DHL is here by noon again like it was today.

 

DHL site is updated this morning, my computer is with delivery courier. So definitely arriving within a few hours. I have been so restless that I've actually been cleaning my big mess of a bedroom... but that's probably a good thing so it looks decent in the pictures I will be posting.

 

hey tess.. did you have to ask for compensation or did they just email you about it?

 

When it was my ESD and my computer was still in production, I contacted them and said that it obviously wasn't shipping that day, so I wanted compensation for the delay. I said otherwise I wanted to cancel my order and would get a computer from somewhere else, which isn't true because I would only get a Dell but I knew if I said that I would have more of a chance to get the compensation. So the guy said that they would credit me back $50 after I receive the computer, and I have a claim # so I can contact Dell to remind them about it and make sure that it does get taken care of.

They acutally shipped mine 3-5 day!! My ESD is Monday!! I called Dell and they offered a $25.00 credit for the mistake.....I'm still waiting....

 

Yesterday when my husband talked to a csr they told him it was sent next day even though the website said 3-5 business days. Then they said that my sleeve that I ordered was on backorder until Oct. Well, I really don't care about that, I just want the lappy. Well I checked my status online and it says that my sleeve also shipped yesterday. Well this morning my husband called DHL and they said that both the sleeve and the lappy will be delivered today, though not together. The sleeve would be sometime after 12 and the lappy would be sometime after 2pm. I don't really understand this because they were both in West Palm Beach this morning, which is about 40 miles south of me. One was in West Palm at 7:30 this morning and the other arrived at 9:30 this morning. I'm not sure about that one. Well, I just received the sleeve and I guess I'll be waiting until another DHL truck comes to deliver the lappy. It better be delivered today. I left work early and I'm sitting at my mother-in-law's house because this is where it's being shipped. So, I'll keep you updated.

 

awww that stinks, but just think: soon you'll be exiting "dell hell" ! rejoice!

 

I am still working on getting things set up how I like them. I did a reformat/clean install. Then had to update all my drivers, and windows update. Now I'm at the point where I can start installing my programs and copyng pictures and music and stuff from my old computer. Yay!

It finally arrived. I'm typing this on it now. Apparently the driver that had my sleeve also had my computer, but read the address wrong and didn't deliver it. The sleeve was delivered at 1:10pm. We waited and my husband called at around 5:45 and DHL said that it should have been delivered already. He told them we only got the one box. So, they called the driver and had her bring the lappy. So, I should have had it at around 1pm, but didn't get it until 6 pm. But, that's OK, I'm happy. I've got it now.

YAY JACKIE! Yes, so far I love it, but my love will only grow as I move out of the set up stage and into the playing with stuff stage.

Oh, and Q for y'all: My Internet isn't working perfectly on my Flaminga. I'm hooked up on the same high speed as my old desktop, but it takes a while for the pages to load and sometimes the pictures don't load on the page. Is this an Internet problem or a comp. problem?? I'm so not technological. Ha! Any suggestions?? I'd rather it be the Internet connection than probs with my Pretty Pink.

 

my flaminga works fine w/ the internet... we have verizon fios internet and I connect wirelessly. Find over here... now we're just waiting for Angie so we can all have a flaminga toast!

I was going to try to get a video on youtube to show my loverly new computer, mainly for my friends that don't live nearby to see, but I haven't gotten to that today. I think I will have to take Mae (named after Ms. West, of course) frolicking outside in the sun.

My specs... there's a lot of that. I think the screen is fine. I don't know what people are talking about with leakage or viewing angle problems, but things look okay to me. Inspiron 1420 with the high-res screen (14.1" glossy). Intel Core 2 Duo T7300. 2GHz. 2GB RAM. NVIDIA GeForce blah blah blah video card. 160GB SATA hard drive. Vista Home Premium. DVD RW Dual Layer drive/CD RW. Integrated High Definition Audio 2.0. Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini Card. Bluetooth Module. 9-cell battery. No camera (I have a MiniDV camera that I can hook up with a firewire cable). Various warranty/complete care stuff.

My original estimated ship date is oct 15....Now it changed to estimate delivery date sep 25......Happy happy happy~~~~~~~~

By the way, mine is pink inspiron 1420, Intel Core 2 Duo T7500, 160 GB HD, screen 1440x900, NVIDIA GeForce, 2GB RAM,bluetooth, webcam, 6 cell battery...................^o^..............

Okay, So, I LOVE the lappy! It was soooooo worth the wait. Perfect screen, I was surprised that there was no latch to keep it closed. I am using it right now.....

YAY ANGIE! I don't have My Space, but if other people do I could always join. LOL.

So I just got an email that Dell processed my credit for the delay. $54.07 (guess that's with tax added?) which covers my wireless mouse and carrying case/sleeve, which totalled $54.06, and I even get an extra penny!

After installing everything and finally getting to play, I am so in love with this laptop. My old one had so much trouble with viewing videos, but this is great. No problems at all.

It's perfect, my screen is perfect, and it's sooo quiet! It does not get warm. I've already had it on for 2 hours and it's not warm at all.
I have no complaints..

The only surprise, that I mentioned earlier, there is no latch keeping it closed. But I think it will stay closed on it's own.

Everyone will LOVE their notebooks! The worst part is I have to work tomorrow and I can't play with it all day! Darn hospitals....they never close!

There should be something to keep it closed... Mine definitely has a latch to hold it closed.... yeah it seems now Dell has the delays minimized... .ordered on the 8th and shipped on the 20th? that's a dream lol... thats like 5 times quicker than it took them to do mine!

 

No latch, but when it's getting almost closed it kinda feels like there is a magnetic pull... which is weird, I thought magnets were bad for computers.

Angie, that's a good point about the temperature. Mine has been on since last night and it still feels cool. My old one got so hot that if it was on a while and I accidentally put chocolate on top by the touchpad (in a wrapper of course) it would melt.

The only thing I'm having trouble adjusting to is the delete key. My other laptop had a delete key to the left of the arrow keys. Now I keep hitting the menu button by mistake. Otherwise it's great. Not as hot, slow, or heavy, as the old one.

 

Mine has a latch, but mine is also bigger. Maybe the smaller ones have something different? We definitely have to keep in touch. I feel like I know all of you. I have a myspace. It's www.myspace.com/jackiefl My layout is kinda lame, but oh well.

 

The 1420s don't have a latch.... they're trying to follow the ibook designs. The 1520s and 1720s all have latches.... but don't worry.. im sure the 1420s are secure. Enjoy your laptop!

 

Yayyyyy Angie!!! I think you're the last to come in. Yea, I read on one of the 1420 reviews that it's not a magnet, but a special spring that helps keep it closed. I like it.

 

Yea, not having a latch dosen't bother me, I'm just soooo happy to have it!!

A few things....

First, I just found that my lappy has a place to put my SD memory card from my camera....so cool!!

Second, My left click"mouse" key dosen't always press things the first time...is this okay?

The color on my lappy is brighter when plugged in than when running on battery.....odd. :confused2:

usually.. all laptops run brighter when plugged in... its a power save issue... so when the laptop runs on battery.. it reduces the screen brightness to conserve power... totally normal... not a problem at all. Im glad ur enjoying it!

Angie - My left "mouse" key doesn't always work the first time either. Weird. But other than that it works great.

 

have you all tested out your webcams? do you know what frame rates you get when you record video?
mine for some reason is really slow.. gives only 7fps.
