Hey nina,... welcome to Flamingaville... I really needed mine to... school started on August 29th for me ... I didn't get my lappy til yesterday... yet I ordered July 19th... 55 days... why do you have booo dad in your sig?

 

i've been in school since august 13th without mine and the walks to the library are getting annoying..haha because he got me the 1521 i was away at school when my parents ordered so yeah.

Got a message from sales department that mine is delayed due to the LCD screen, so the 10/1 estimate is probably accurate. So I guess the guy saying it was "in manufacturing" meant the same "in production" note that I get everywhere. Darn. Oh well, that's only a couple more weeks... then they're probably gonna delay me again. I knew I should have ordered in July, then I might have gotten it recently. LOL.

 

Yayyyy!! I got it!! I'm out of town so I probably won't be posting pics. It looks the same as all the others, though

oh!! btw guys, i got my compensation from dell for the dell-ay..... $70, i called them immediately after i received the flaminga and they compensated me $70 + $4.20 (taxes, i didnt know u could add tax to such a thing) and it took from tuesday til the wee hours of friday to show up on my dell preferred account ( its a long story as to why im up this late, ahhh!) so if u were promised compensation, demand it and call them the instant you receive ur notebook

 

Yeah I got my compensation as well... $135 total 85 for my credit of NBD shipping and $50 inconvenience ... Tess ... my LCD was back ordered too... I got glossy/high res... and its sooooo gorgeous... I can see my reflection all the time regardless of the color back ground but black looks like a mirror... i love it love it love it

 

Thanks for the sympathy, it does help a little. I'm just glad I'm not on a deadline for it, I just really want it. LOL.

MyzTery- That's the same screen I ordered, it sounds like it is well worth the wait. Plus I currently have a Dell and except for the current Dell-ays my experiences with Dell have always been positive. Especially when it comes to replacement parts covered by my warranty, which I always seem to need. This one is on the third hard drive, third LCD screen, probably like the fifth or sixth keyboard, just last week had to get a replacement power cord/ac adapter (so that's number two)...

 

definitely worth the wait...

u know what ... I forgot I ordered the integrated webcam....I mean after 55 days you start to forget everything but the color... but I don't know where to use it... is there a program or something that u use with it or do I have to use like AOL video chat or something...

 

I didn't order the bluetooth or webcam, but kinda wish I had. I wonder if those are easily upgraded if I get the parts, or if I would have to reorder. Then again the webcam is only 2 megapixels, and I dunno how that would compare with hooking up my miniDV camcorder to the computer... which I haven't really done yet. I need some good video editing software before I can even think about that.

My daughter is in love w/ her Pink 1420! It got delivered on 9/13 and she's verrry happy. I'm still working on tranfering her files and setting it all up but it's a great laptop. I bought a Dell (dark gray - sorry) 1520 about 6 months ago which has been great too.

Just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for all the info and moral support - without it I might've been tempted to cancel the order. I found this forum by accident while googling the pink 1420 status and it's been a great resource during all the Dell-ays. Good luck to all still waiting and hang in there! You'll be glad you did.

Also, I got a notice that my $75 rebate is in process, so that helps too.

I think the Malaysians have gotten the painting down... all the colors are going home now... except for yellow I think... I know some yellows who've been waiting longer than me...

My Digital Camera (Pink Of Course) has 7.0 Mega Pixels so that's what I use for pictures... I got the bluetooth just because I like bluetooth devices, the whole wireless thing without the USB jack... I got the webcam cause my sister did lol... but I clearly don't know how to use it soo....

 

I don't have bluetooth devices but I have lots of wires. I want a bluetooth adapter for my printer, that's my big thing. As for the mouse, I had ordered two and just got the second. Here's my thoughts:

Saitek (was $12, now I see it's up to $12.99) - wired is annoying, lights up when plugged in which is annoying, and it doesn't feel 100% comfortable in my hand, pink shade is fluorescent which is pretty

Logitech V220 (was $29, now $29.99) - wireless, battery is AA so easily replaced, on/off switch to not waste battery, light is off when not in use, very comfortable in my hand, and pink is more metallic and not as bright

So obviously I like the expensive one better. LOL. Now to see if I can return the other one at no extra charge...

 

myztery, i use the webcam on yahoo and aim, it just cuts on when u click to do a video chat or something, i actually turned it on by accident! im typing away and the next thing i know my friends like " i see u" and im like "how?!?" i look over and BAM! there i am on the webcam lol im still tryin to figure it out too heheh

 

Wow. I contacted Dell about the return- there is a form to fill out on their website. I mentioned that I tried, over the phone, to cancel this mouse and just order the second one, but the CSR I spoke to was unable to cancel it at the time so I got both. I said I want to return this, as I had already changed my mind about it. I also said to inform me of any restock or shipping fee I would have to pay. Here's a snippet of the response I just got:

I also got a reference number for the credit request. Guess for a $12 item they would rather keep me happy than go through the hassles of a return. So even though I just dogged it... anyone interested in a pink wired Saitek mouse? Otherwise I'll try to ebay it.

 

lol... the cost to ship it back and restock it is more than $12... ... My mouse came today... but its sitting @ my job ... lol and today's my day off, I didn't want to go to work for a mouse... but I will go in tomorrow to get it...

 

hi everyone! just found this forum tonight. i ordered my pink 1420 on 8/6 and tonight went to boxing!!!!! I'm so excited.... anyways was just wondering how long the average boxing time is. I almost dropped my phone when i heard it was in boxing instead of build.:laugh: I had to call back 3 times just to make sure I was hearing it right. I can't wait!

OMG, Y'all- I just called and my flaminga is in BOXING!!!! :-D When it gets here I will post pics of it with my pink ipod and pink phone and pink wireless mouse.

I'll tell you one thing though- work is NOT where I want to be when hearing the news. I called from my cell phone in the stacks of the library where I work, and I wanted to sound my barbaric yawp all over the place, but seeing as it's supposed to stay QUIET here, I have to keep my excitement in. Which as you all know is really hard after all the waiting for this.

We should all fly to Cabo to celebrate together, who's with me? ;-)

I waited 55 days nina.... I think that Dell has finally got the painting and stuff done so that laptop are going to go out quicker.... but I had a scare today you guys... I went to get my hair done and left my flamingo home (in my room) with my mother and daughter (who's almost 4)....Cheyenne (that's her name) went and took off my spacebar key and my V key..... i saw my space bar laying to the side of the computer.... I screamed!!!... but luckily and thank Goddddd they snap back .... so just FYI...if any one ever pops off your keys just know they can be popped back on...needless to say... she's on punishment....

Hey, MysTery, where were you a couple years ago? I had my keyboard replaced about five or six times (via warranty) in the past four years due to keys that popped off. I wasn't able to pop them back on, but I finally did it two months ago when I realized I hadn't been pressing the key in place hard enough before. LOL.

 

in my old Inspiron 9200 My Niece and my puppy popped some of those keys off.... but they took the part under the key too so I could see the circuit board

 

I thought the wait for it to get out of build was hard, but now that it's so close I can feel it, it is impossible. I barely slept last night, too excited. I have to try to stay busy the next few days because at this point I don't really need to call my "girlfriend" anymore. LOL. I think it's about time to break up with you, but to tell the truth I think she's one of those girls that gets around. She lets anybody call her, so I'm sure she won't even miss me.

 

yes she does get around tess.....i had a problem breaking it off with her too... but i found love in the form of flamingo pink... she knew what we had wouldnt last, and i only hope i didnt break her heart hehehe

 

I feel your pain Tess....it was sooo hard being in boxing for 2 and a half days...but when u go online to order status and see Status: Shipped.... its a whole different feeling of elation..

okay, Dell is just plain mean.....they shipped my notebook bag early. So now, I have this pretty messanger case sitting in my bedroom with no lappy to put it it. It's makes the waiting just a bit harder......

 

Me too Angie. The only boxing I want right now is me and Dell. I think I can take the company on my own, but maybe the two of us should tag team with Dell and DHL. LOL.

 

We could take a road trip and just go pick up our lappy's...forget the 3 days boxing wait.
