    That's ridiculous...

Maybe they want to see how sells are good in south america to decide the launching promo... is that possible?

Maybe they are waiting for the coupons to expire.

    Why remove the 630m then?

BTW, when do they expire on Dell USA?

    it's out!

you can find 640m on small business and e1405 on EPP if you go to the dropdown menu. there was a glitch tho and it went to the e1505 but i just changed the 5 to a 4 in the URL and it worked!

doesn't seem to be a bluetooth option which sucks...

Some of the configuration options for the 640m are less than ideal. A WXGA+ screen is only available with TrueLife, which I don't like. It is not possible to get the notebook with a single 1 GB RAM module. For the hard drives, the speed is only mentioned for 7200 RPM models; I assume the other drives are 5400 RPM but one cannot be sure. And as we all know, the video card is an Intel GMA 950. I am going to wait for the XPS M1210.

You can get to the E1405 by typing it in, but it only shows a Core Solo option in the config. Probably should wait until it officially launches.

Update: It is on the compare notebook page, but still only allows a Core Solo.

EPP is the employee purchase plan - you can get there at dell.com/epp but your employer has to be a member. Lots of schools can get the same discounts, so if you are enrolled in a school you should check with them. EPP customers get 12% off and then there are often special coupons for EPP - right now there is 30% off notebooks $999 or more, and a few weeks ago it was 35%.

I wouldn't flip out about the lack of options just yet. Bluetooth might be available, but not added to the customize screen yet. After all, the description says Core Duo is available, but you cannot pick it.

It can be configured with a core duo. You need to select the third model up, and configure from there (add or subtract options).

Yeah, I believe so as that's when the current deal for the 630M ends @ $1349 - **** good deal really! I just hope the unit stays as far as possible from 2k like most of the others over here!

Not the E1405 on the US website. At least, not yet. The 640m on the US site can get a Duo, though. No bluetooth on either laptop.

Edit: Ah, I see. There are different config options if you have an EPP program to go though. Just going to dell.com directly doesn't give you as many options.

I just got nearly the same machine for my wife. Total price was $1228.54, after tax.

The differences from the above are: 1GB of RAM, no MS Office (she gets a personal copy free through her work), added 1yr Accidental Damage, as well as the remote control and MyDVDPlus (mainly to get it over $2000). I also used the $100 off stackable.

Just FYI, there are a lot of additional configurations available if you go through some sort of EPP (RAM speed and config, wireless cards). Unfortunately, the same setup added nearly $250 to the cost, and while I would dig the 3yr coverage, the addtional 2 years didn't seem worth it at that price. Plus, the RAM price through Dell is a rip off. They wanted $150 for 1GB (2 sticks) of 667. I can get 2GB of the same stuff for $30 more at NewEgg.

    A couple questions:

How much extra heat does the 7200rpm HD generate and is it worth the upgrade?

Is it worth it to get the sound card upgrade?

Does the 3-5 day shipping mean that it will be at my door 3-5 days from the time it ships or that it will ship in 3-5 days from the time I order it?

    Here're my specs:

3-5 days from the time it ships. That moment could be any length of time, based on how long it takes to build and "box" the system.

Can't answer the sound question, though I think there is a thread on these boards that talks about it.

Not sure on the heat issue, but 7200 will help in terms of performance. From a lot of the things I have read lately, a "slow" hard drive can easily be the biggest performance bottleneck in today's laptops.

The Bluetooth module is internal right? I want to buy soon so I can use the good coupons I have, and don't want to risk waiting for them to add the bluetooth option. Is it possible for me to buy the bluetooth module separately and pay to have it put in? Or is it easy to do by myself? I hate to pay extra but I don't know anything about notebooks, I've only installed hardware in desktops.

    Thanks for the help!
