That's ridiculous...
Maybe they want to see how sells are good in south america to decide the launching promo... is that possible?
-
Maybe they are waiting for the coupons to expire.
-
Why remove the 630m then?
BTW, when do they expire on Dell USA? -
it's out!
you can find 640m on small business and e1405 on EPP if you go to the dropdown menu. there was a glitch tho and it went to the e1505 but i just changed the 5 to a 4 in the URL and it worked!
doesn't seem to be a bluetooth option which sucks... -
Hum it's out too on Dell Canada only on small business... but ZERO promo wtf lol
it will be on Home & Home Office too I guess... -
-
Built one. ETA- 6/2
-
Some of the configuration options for the 640m are less than ideal. A WXGA+ screen is only available with TrueLife, which I don't like. It is not possible to get the notebook with a single 1 GB RAM module. For the hard drives, the speed is only mentioned for 7200 RPM models; I assume the other drives are 5400 RPM but one cannot be sure. And as we all know, the video card is an Intel GMA 950. I am going to wait for the XPS M1210.
-
http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/inspn?c=ca&cs=CABSDT1&l=en&s=bsd
lol special offers for everything except for the 640m... I guess they are not finished updating the website.. -
-
You can get to the E1405 by typing it in, but it only shows a Core Solo option in the config. Probably should wait until it officially launches.
Update: It is on the compare notebook page, but still only allows a Core Solo. -
-
-
WTF is with no bluetooth? Everybody uses that!
-
On Dell.ca, we have the options for bluetooth
-
I wouldn't flip out about the lack of options just yet. Bluetooth might be available, but not added to the customize screen yet. After all, the description says Core Duo is available, but you cannot pick it.
-
Anybody know if that Creative HD Audio option would suck up the battery more?
-
ROFL, Paulie, your on Whirlpool as well.
Whats the difference between 640m & e1405? -
LOL.. Yeah, we never get anything quick in Australia, so I'm forced to converse on the American forums!
They are Identical. It's just called the E1405 in America -
You reckon we gonna get in on Friday? Thats when Dell have new deals.
-
I still don't get how they can put dedicated graphics in a 12" (M1210) but not a 14" (E1405)...
-
the 640m is the business line inspiron, the e1405 is the home line.
-
Maybe they don't want to...
Personally, I'm happy with that... I don't want dedicated graphic card and that keeps the price lower.. -
It can be configured with a core duo. You need to select the third model up, and configure from there (add or subtract options).
-
-
Just ordered mine. Got a confirmation with a ship date of 5/17
-
Argh I configured mine on Dell USA and the price is pretty impressive... why can't they update the deals on Dell CAN -

wow! seems very nice!
too bad we do not have the same coupon system here -
Edit: Ah, I see. There are different config options if you have an EPP program to go though. Just going to dell.com directly doesn't give you as many options. -
Thank you, that was exactly what i was looking for.
-
No problem dude
-
Very good price!
-
Not on Dell.CA
-
The differences from the above are: 1GB of RAM, no MS Office (she gets a personal copy free through her work), added 1yr Accidental Damage, as well as the remote control and MyDVDPlus (mainly to get it over $2000). I also used the $100 off stackable.
Just FYI, there are a lot of additional configurations available if you go through some sort of EPP (RAM speed and config, wireless cards). Unfortunately, the same setup added nearly $250 to the cost, and while I would dig the 3yr coverage, the addtional 2 years didn't seem worth it at that price. Plus, the RAM price through Dell is a rip off. They wanted $150 for 1GB (2 sticks) of 667. I can get 2GB of the same stuff for $30 more at NewEgg. -
Quite nice too
-
No doubt. You can't get that much machine for that price anywhere else. At least, I hope not. And if you can, I don't want to hear about it
-
Yay it's here!! (I found out at 11:30 but haven't gotten to look at it much until now)
now to start the selection process.
Which coupons work on it? -
750$ works fine
-
sweet now I can get my system over 2000 by getting it speced even better!
-
Good luck
-
Anyone found it on the UK site yet? I'm pretty certain I'm getting one of these beasts!
-
I think I've read it'll be released on May 5th in Europe
-
Are they going to make a better GPU available? If they do, I am in like Flint!!! Otherwise, back to my e1505 vs e1705 debate..
-
A couple questions:
How much extra heat does the 7200rpm HD generate and is it worth the upgrade?
Is it worth it to get the sound card upgrade?
Does the 3-5 day shipping mean that it will be at my door 3-5 days from the time it ships or that it will ship in 3-5 days from the time I order it?
Here're my specs:

sorry if it's a bit confusing
Edit: I'm guessing you can't use the coupons on the 640m since it's a buisness notebook? -
3-5 days from the time it ships. That moment could be any length of time, based on how long it takes to build and "box" the system.
Can't answer the sound question, though I think there is a thread on these boards that talks about it.
Not sure on the heat issue, but 7200 will help in terms of performance. From a lot of the things I have read lately, a "slow" hard drive can easily be the biggest performance bottleneck in today's laptops. -
On Dell Canada, it has the same promos as the other laptops... no special deal for the launch
