    Got a call from Dell 2 days ago, saying that the bagpack was back-ordered. Hopefully, it comes before I leave for college.

    I ended up weedling them into giving me one, even though my refurb. E1505 didn't quite qualify for the program in the first place =)

    I talked with a dell guy today, and they are going to send me one!! Thanks so much. I had to call like 3 times and chat a few times before I finally got some one who would give it to me, but it worked. :)

    I did the chat, but the person only had the free backpack for an e1505 w/ a solo procesor...there wasnt a duo. does anyone have, or can they get the e-value code so i can slap 'em in the face with it. I ordered in july too

    snowbrdkid, tell the rep you got the info off the www.dell.com/july site. Thats what i did and the rep said that i would get $100 coupon

    i contacted them via chat, and i simply just inquired about the offer, not even asked about getting it or saying i forgot to check it. The rep just said, "ok, will ship a free backpack to your adress within 5 business days"

    SWEET!

    I ordered mine in july, called up and asked for the free backpack.. saying i forgot to check it off when I ordered. The lady came back saying "Okay, we'll send you the free skin"..... and I think wtf... she didn't even know what I was talking about. What exactly did you guys say to get it?

    Just *chat* with customer service, not call them, and tell ask them about the free backpack promotion in july, and tell them u bought an inspiron notebook in july. They will check your order number, and if you did purchase in july they will say ok!

    Just for the record, I chatted my way into a $35 coupon. They said it would be sent to me via email within 48 hours. Well, 48 hours passed and no coupon, so I talked to them again, and now the backpack is on it's way. A few hours later I also received a confirmation saying that a $35 coupon was on it's way, and the backpack has already shipped! Oh yeah, got a free XP CD, too, and I may get a skin (I had applied for one before I did the whole backpack thing) but I don't really care about that...

    Just finished chatting and got away with a free backpack. :cool: The estimated ship date is August 11.

    I ordered my E1505/I6400 in June. The customer rep said that the free backpack was for July promo only. After expressing my disappointment, the rep said "For your satisfaction as one time exception of customer care for your being a Dell valued customer, I will go out of my way and place the order for the free back pack for your order." Isn't that wonderful? I didn't ask for the free XP CD since all the CDs came in with my system already.

    The chat people kept giving me phone numbers. After a few tries I got a rep named Steve, who is the man. He told me to find a backpack on the dell page that would fit my notebook and to give him the part number. I am now getting a 90 dollar backpack free. :D

    For those who have received their free backpack already, how does the E1505/I6400 fit in the bag? Does the lappie sit comfortably or it is a little bit tight in the fitting? :confused:

    i had the bag for the e1705. its a REALLY tight fit with the backpack. when i stuck my 1705 in there, i had a moderately hard time pulling the lappie back out (i tried not to use much force so i wont damage the laptop, im a paranoia freak :p) because it was stuck in there so tight.

    the backpack does feel and look pretty sturdy though. it has lots of pockets, 3 "main" pockets, plus a lot of small ones for mp3 players, ipods, phones, swiss army knife (it IS made by Swiss after all ;) )

    I didnt get the Swiss gear backpack. My rep told me to pick whichever one i wanted, and I chose this one.

    However I am sure if it doesn't fit I can just call a few more times to get it exchanged.

    I hope the Swear Gear will have a snug fit on my lappie. But if not, I guess I can always ask for an exchange. :p

    I just checked the status of my order, it seemed the backpack is backordered. :(

    i'd say definitely try, just tell them (via sales chat) you missed out on the free backpack opportunity and really would like one

    especially try if you ordered through home/home office

    I bought this backpack back in idk, may or something, when i bought my laptop. It's great, and fits the e1505 perfectly. Very comfortable, too. Tons of room in it. I (my parents, that is) paid w/e the retail value at the time was, i think 45 bucks or something, and it is worth every penny. For free is just a great deal!

    How long does it take for them to actually send the coupon? It's been 48 hours since my coupon was issued. Do I need to follow up with a CSR if I haven't received it yet?

    i "ordered" my free backpack on the third and i got it yesterday(7th). thats pretty good time! it was left on my doorstep. I called today about he OS cd and told them i wanted to reformat. when they asked why, i said to get rid of all the bloatware installed lol. they said ok and now its been sent. I havnt got my free skin though which was supposed to be sent a long time ago...

    Also, for those who got one for a 17 in screen, was it the Dell brand packpack or the Swiss one?

    By the way, I think someone already said this, but I used the dell chat over the internet and it worked liek a CHARM. They actually appologized for not sending it earlier, haha. This is awesome deal. Thanks :)
