Go to the second Customize... and select the first block. Enable overclocking, and then select the tab to the right of it, and go to "performance 3d". That should tell us the active clockspeed.

Please let us know if the notebook comes with the component out adapter or do we have to buy it from dell (yes there is a dell component adapter with digital out for the 1520's. The manual for the laptop shows it)

This means that dell has listed incorrect data on their site. This means they've falsely advertised the specifications of their components. The RAM is clocked at 800MHz (400x2). That means the effective bandwidth is around 12.8GB/s. That's about half what they advertised.

I thought the new gpu's changed their clock speed depending on usage just like the cpu does?

also is ddr3 slower then ddr 2?

Wait the screenshots show ddr3 so why is everybody uspet.

Also remember that the new gpus change their clock speed depending on usage so maybe they have to select a performance profile.

The screenshot is taken via 3d mode. What is shown is the highest the card will be clocked stock. Once again, this is false advertisement. They listed the 8600m GT as having 22.4GB/s of bandwidth. The GPU's ram is clocked at only 800Mhz (400x2), which results in 12.8GB/s of bandwidth.

    That's false advertisement.

Wait wait....can't it just be severly underclocked because Dell wanted higher battery life or something? That's probably why they advertised the 22.4 GB/s bandwidth, and then when they got the card they just downclocked like crazy. Can you check and see if you can OC it back to the top settings and see if it works fine?

how does 32 stream processors compare to pipelines?
and also what region did you order the laptop from, i hope your not from the US, maybe dell hates Canadians :)

The picture shows the slider going up to 600 so why is there a problem? Rememebr that shows what the memory is at right now. The gpus new feature is that it can change its speed.

Are we sure this is its max and not what its set at right now?

    you can download 3dmark06 @ www.futuremark.com :) happy benching.

also rivatuner falsely states DDR3, we already saw that on another (russian) review on teh acer 5920G, where rivatuner showed DDR3 but the card only has DDR2, confirmed by other progs.

Everything I found on the Dell website says this:

NVIDIA® GeForceTM Go 8600M GT with 256MB DDR2 dedicated graphic memory

No idea where everyone is getting the DDR3.

It isn't so much the fact that it isn't DDR3, it's the fact that it's grossly underclocked and that Dell's site lists memory bandwidth incorrectly (read:false advertisement).
