yeah man iit looks like i got 2 tracking numbers also.. .go figure.
-
thats not true about being stuck with only wxga,wxga+,etc... I have had mine swapped 3 times at first i had anti-glare, now i have wxga+, and i requested xk309 recently and im getting it tommorow.
-
whats the xk309 ? what resolution /glossy or not ? and how did you request for it?
-
One of the tracking numbers is a return label. With the replacement kits, WK***, you do not get a new bezel or nuts and bolts etc. Thats separate and needs to be requested.
-
Youll notice that when you ship it back, the second tracking number will track it back to Texas.
-
Grainy screens SUCK!
What sucks even more is that my bro got his V1400 in....
WXGA+, NO GRAIN what so ever, good bright whites and overall great screen. but right away, I noticed it, and there it was chilling right in the middle of the screen............. a freakin dead group of pixels. NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I tried every method to get rid of them but to no avail.
Oh why o why Dell.... perfect screen in all aspects except the damn burnt pixels -
is it the screen that is grainy or is it the antiglare coating not being applied properly? The green coat on my first and 2nd m1330 looked very different when the screen was off. And one was grainy while the other was not.
None of it matters though cuz my third one is being built now and i might end up with something crappy inside :'( *sigh* -
good q... my anti glare is killing me... it literally hurts to look at the screen as i type this, i find myself looking down to let my eyes rest.
-
It's the coating they put on the outside of the screen. The film, resent what ever the material I'm no expert. But I know if it's not at the exact thickness that's what causes the grain.
Crappy quality control at screen manufactures. -
so the screen itself is technically okay, just the coating thats screwed up ?
-
You will not not see this phenomenon on a non-glossy screen.
It's the quality control that's to blame.... -
i missed the dhl truck today... so what do i do now? i didnt recieve the package.
-
i only got one box...no plastics...wtf
i just checked the tracking and its going to show up tomorrow. so much for next day dhl... -
stoic said you need to ask for the plastics separate ? but cant you use old plastics ?
and what should i do about missing the dhl truck ? -
just so you know, i checked the lcd, and it is an AUO... it says AU Optronics on the back.
i want to put it in, but i guess i will wait till tomorrow to use the new plastics. -
dell order status says: shipped... even though its not. it also says :Unsuccessful Delivery Attempt.
Dell site just updated and i can no logner view the chart where the item was moved around... Ill have to call DHL about this tomorrow thats what it says. Ill either go myself or tell them what time to come. -
I will likely do a walk through on how to do this replacement tomorrow once i get the rest of the parts, but here are pictures of what i got so far:

looks a bit intimidating ~_~. Im sure i can do this myself though, anyone know of an online guide how to do this ?
-
edit...opps i forgot to add the link:

thanks man, i also found out dhl will try shipping my screen tomorrow.
-
Oh sweet they include an new auxiliary cable to?
Sweet I'm gonna have to go for this. My other screen replacement didn't come with one. I broke mine kinda, one of the wires got snippet when I yanked it off. Hugh don't tell Dell.. lol The microphone works fine so it's all good.
Guys, you don't need the plastics.
When you pull off the front bezel which faces you when you use the computer, theres about 3 or 4 screws along each side of the monitor, unscrew those, then lift the screen out slowly, just enough to disconnect the cable from the microphone/webcame module.
Or just unscrew that module and pull it all out together. The second way I find this easier then screwing around with the tiny ribbon cable in that tight little space.
nizzy1115, I hate to say it but that screen looks like it's a grainy dud, or it's just you're camera settings. :S
I didn't get a chance to request one today but I'm gonna see how you two guys fair in this battle for the flawless screen. So far from the pictures, thumbs up new cables and such, but BOOO because that screens coating looks grainy. But it's possible it's just the camera. -
how can you tell that its grainy when its not even turned on?
but, yes, i had to compress the images from 1.2mb to 250kb when i uploaded...so there is loss in quality (and my 3.2 mp camera isnt the best!) -
hey nizzy are you going to do a full install and then check to see if its grainy ? or just plug it in and then turn it on to check?
-
im going to put it together so i will wait until tomorrow when i get the rest of the parts.
-
what would happen if i connected the LCD to the computer and turned it on right there to see if its worth finishing the install? if the screen they are sending me sucks i dont want to install it and then find out it sucks...
-
-
yeah its probably going to be easier to compare hte 2 screens this way also... i can look at one and then the other and keep switching if i need to.
-
not while its on!
-
yeah haha i was planning turning it off
. hope you get a GOOD screen man... i really do. tell us how it goes tomorrow.
-
Ive replaced so many of those I can tell it's an AUO by the Japanese writing on the back. Also on the upper left hand corner it should have AUO lightly stamped on it.
sOnIc -
request xk309 trust me its work it got it today
-
It's the way my eye is catching it I guess in the picture, the coating has that..look.. I don't know I probably sound like a idiot right now but we'll see, lol.
But I think it's just the camera.
But you kidding? I got a few 3.2MP cameras and I use them over my Cannon Rebel.. lol
Good luck bro keep us posted. I think I'm just gonna request a new screen and to hell with waiting to see your guys results. Anything is better then these random dead pixels my LG has gotten the last few weeks. -
AUO WXGA+ = Poop.
Sorry man, i wouldn't even put that in if it's AUO. -
it is an AUO...not all are bad. im going to give it a shot once my plastics show up.
-
I have yet to see a 15.4" AUO WXGA+ panel that is semi-decent ( and I hope I'm Wrong)
Good Luck man.
Nizzy also....
Because the controller connection is by the right side of the keyboard, you dont even have to remove the old screen out. Just gain access to the connector, use the new auxilary cable and connect the screen outside. This way you can power it and test it before going through the hassle of taking the old one out.
No point in changing if the new screen is the same or worse. -
tell us how it goes
-
I just got off the phone and requested my new screen. They had a little pull against it they gave me the "send it to depot because it's a fragile job" line. Man are they unaware of my monthly cleanings.
So I just requested management approval and we're set.
What's the status report nizzy1115 on you're screen situation? -
im waiting on the package. it should be here any time now.
-
Hey guys, since we're talking about this...in your experience, is it normal that the viewing angle on my screen is so small? If I move thirty centimeters to the right or left and 10 up or down I can see it's no good anymore.
As for the grainy, I am still not sure about it... -
-
Vostro 1500 with a 1280x800 glare screen labeled AUO2374
-
NIZZY have u installed urs yet ? damn it... ive been waiting to see what screen u got.
-
I have that AUO screen like you said i would get...and im still waiting on my plastics...be patient
-
patience.... that is what i lack. nizzy do you game ? Css or anything? id like to vs u
-
i stick to gaming on my 360. halo 3, and lately gh3.
-
perhaps it is better this way. I would not want to crush you and humiliate you in CSS or any other FPS
btw i connected my screen : had dead pixel, so i sent it back already... and i recieved it today... -
the tech im talking to right now (for another replacement) keeps trying to convince me that I HAVE to send the system to their repair depot.... And that i cant install it myself? what the hell is this ? 2+ hours this guy still wont budge...
UPDATE: i kept at it... and apparently they agreed to send me the new part on the condition that if hte problem persists i will send it to repair depot.. i agreed. -
DeusEx, The girl I requested my screen from gave me the same crap line. Return to depot, because you can crack the screen and blah blah blah.
Just ask that they clear it with management/supervisor.
I had my screen in 3 minutes of being on hold.. lolz -
apparently its their new policy ? to have ppl replace screen in repair depot rather than themselves
-
well, i dont know what to do now. i tried my screen (with no plastics)...i think i need to call up dhl and ask where they are. anyways, it is a grainy AUO screen not really any better or worse than what i have right now with my sec. but it is brighter. or it seems that way. maybe i will just keep what i have and live with it?
I caved...i requested a grainy lcd swap
