How much you paid for your laptop?

 

A month, AT LEAST.

 

Hi guys

Well, I spoke to my CSR (was trying to get him to reduce the price further) and he told me that if he cancels my order and reduces the price, then the new order will be delayed by about 5-8 weeks. As Dell is facing a shortage of LCDs. He told me this quite clearly, so there is a shortage of LCDs.

Anyway, my laptop is sitting in customs clearance in Haryana (I am in Delhi) and he says I should have it by the end of next week. I am quite hopeful, and will let you know when I get it.

 

phoenix, when did you place ur order? according to customer care, all laptops from malaysia are first processed at dell bangalore, after that they are sent via road to respective places

 

well, as of now, i have only received one mail from dell delaying my laptop from 29th aug to 6th sept... but i am sure not going to let them sit peacefully if my lappy is delayed even by a day beyond 29th :|

 

i guess the customs issue will be sorted well before September...hopefully
the dell rep said they have no clue when our lappys will be out of blore customs

they said latest it will be there by 11th, they will "try" their best to deliver it before september tough....lets see what happens ...next time u call, ask them when the customs issue will be solved. :|

 

damn!!! Did they say that it's september now.... omg, i really am not able to believe a vostro is being delayed by so much time... Well, Dell will really have hell to pay for this

 

I'll call them on monday and remind them that i am expecting it on the 29th and they better be ready with a damn good excuse this time and some kind of compensation

 

and vostro is a business line...hoping that the customs issue will be solved soon

 

This thing is really eating up a lot of my time... i am really frustrated and cant seem to get myself to stop obsessing over this issue... Well, i had better find something to do or i'll drive myself crazy thinking about all of this

 

I ordered on the 14th of August, as can be seen from my sig.

Well, my rep has assured me that it will reach me before the end of the month, and he has checked 2-3 times now, and is sure that the laptop is in Haryana. He wasn't sure how far Haryana was from Delhi and told me that he can upgrade my shipping from road to air, so I don't have to wait.
But when I told him that Haryana is like 1 hour away from Delhi, he said it will be by road only.

Hopefully, I get my laptop soon! I can't wait!

 

I still dont understand why they would keep the laptops in Customs for that long.... May it had something to do with August 15th (Independence day) and they were worried about security or something... But come on it is nearly 10 days after that and they should have cleared those items off customs....

 

DELL is lying to us about our machines being stuck in customs. Why would one machine be stuck in customs for 15-20 days and other for 3 days, which was ordered after the first one as well?

EDIT - My status page says -

Does it mean, it has been shipped from the factory on August 21, or does it mean, it is ready to be shipped since August 21, but isn't????

 

it means that it has already been shipped from malaysia, and should be in bangalore at the moment...

 

Are you sure? Here is my status according to DELL. There is a tick under "Order Recieved", "Work In Progress" etc but an arrow sign under "Ship From Factory". Maybe it means it is READY TO BE shipped rather than shipped? But says ready to be shipped/already shipped since 21st. I hope it IS shipped. Would it take time in the Malaysian customs as well????

For my Order there is an "arrow" on "Ship From Factory" since 11th Aug and Dell is saying that my EDD is 6th Sept

As of now, my system is currently " awaiting invoice from Dell india "... I was told that i should expect the laptop to arrive at my doorstep on tuesday (28th august, just one day before my EDD). Hope i get a good piece

My status page also has an arrow sign on the ship from factory image but my rep assures me its currently in customs, so I am pretty sure it means that its already been shipped and is currently sitting in customs.

He is supposed to let me know the status on Monday, as then the laptop will be out of customs.

 

zomg life is so UNFAIR lol congrats vinay...where did that invoicing status appear? are our systems out of customs yet?

How did you find that out? My status page only has - "Order recieved", "Work in progress", "Manufacturing build complete", "Ship from factory" (My current status) and "Delivered".

I got a mail telling me about my current order status !!!

 

This is really stupid. I called up my rep today and now he says that instead of it being Monday, my laptop should be out from customs before Wednesday.
So I let him have it. I told him he told me that it would be out on Friday. Then he said Monday and now he is saying Wednesday. I said if I called on Monday he would tell me Friday!

Anyway, he apologised and well, there's nothing much he can do so I guess I should just wait.

No mail from Dell at all. I had ordered an LCD earlier from them and that arrived in 2 weeks.

I am now going mad waiting for my machine!

 

My ESD is on Sunday. Do they deliver on Sunday?

I think you are asking whether they deliver on sunday... Well, that would depend on the company which is delivering your shipment, that is, if they were contacted,by Dell, before saturday to deliver your comp, otherwise it may take a day or two more than your EDD.

 

Yes, I meant do they deliver on Sundays. I'll contact DELL and tell them expect in ON Sunday, no matter what.

 

if only we could delay paying their money ..they would get a sense of what the customers are feeling....

 

I think if I can, I will. I have paid it with cheque.

But here is my plan -

They gave me an ESD, first - September 6, 2007, then second - September 9th, 2007.
If they can't deliver on 9th, I'll call my sales rep and ask them to cancel my order, and return my money.
She'll say DELL can't, since the laptop has arrived in India on 22nd (I think, since it was shipped on 21st August) AND the moment the Sales Rep blurts out that the money can't be returned, as it has been cashed/used, I will tell her that the law states that you CANNOT take payment BEFORE you actually give the product, and thanks for telling me that you did, and meet you in court blah blah blah, UNLESS DELL is willing to give me a hefty compensation, and hang up.

I'll be asking for the full insurance shebang, since the 1920*1200 resolution can't be changed here in India. It has to be done in Malaysia, right?

Even if the money can be returned, they will try their best not to.

So, my heart wants my laptop on or before September 9th, and my head wants it to be late!

 

any1 has this on the estimated delivery date my original edd was today, that is the 26th...

Look, the first thing you should do is calm down, and think this through... firstly, Dell as of now has not delayed your shipment, it will be delayed only if on the 6th of september you dont receive your laptop. And so, like me, even you will have to wait until that day(EDD) arrives then think about your future course of action.

As of now, my order status seems to be on schedule and the final verdict on Dell's service can only be given after i recieve the lappy on or before 29th august . So, hoping that Dell delivers the system within their promised 20 days.

 

Hey, rhn , i think now you can really blast dell for exceeding your delivery date and probably do something more

 

Like I said, my heart says they should deliver it on time. I've been waiting for too long, and there are 2 more weeks to go. But my head says,"Hey, you would have waited for 4 weeks by then, what's 2-3 days more? You're getting freebies as well!"

They've already shifted my ESD by 3 days earlier. Any more changes, well, I'd blast my Sales Rep, no matter how "lively" she thinks she is (well, she is )!

Called Dell CS this morning and they told me that my Order had cleared the Custom on 25th Aug and currently its under Invoice. I should be getting it by End of Week

 

How long did it take for your machine to clear the customs?

 

Well..the OrderStatus Page saya that Its "Ship From Factory" on 11th Aug and Dell CSR told me that its out of Custom on 25th Aug...so probably 2 Weeks

 

the customer care ppl said that my laptop is under invoicing too however i did not get a mail saying so

my lappy was in customs clearance from the 9th august to 25th...

Re- RHN - regarding the latest order status update, i got the same today (27th Aug), called up Dell Bangalore and was informed that laptop is in transit, customs problems cleared by Dell. EDD is now 1st Sept'07. A bit late... yes.. but not so bad... keeping my fingers crossed.

Just confirmed wid cust care, my system already reached Bangalore but awaitin for customs. i wil be recieving my system within 10 days (atmost, since i reside in Bangalore).
So i have kept my fingers crossed.....

And for u guys for whom the consignment is delayed... take this piece of advice:
Dell emphasizes too much on Customer Satisfaction.... So just call up those cust care guys and demand for freebies or partial credit repayment. But u should know how to speak!!!Threaten them to cancel the order straight away.... trust me this works...

Some tricks : Bug them to the core and then Ask them to connect you to their managers, which they never do, they will be totally pissed off them and wil be forced to commit something...!!!!

This worked for me and got a whooping discount on Rs.5k+ while negotiating the prices.....

 

Hi, well I called up my CSR today and he said it's still under customs clearance.

Earlier, he had told me that I will be getting the laptop before month end and today he says that he never said that. That made me so mad I made him connect me to customer services.
Anyway, the lady there was very nice and told me that as the customs guys are checking each and every box individually, it is taking longer than usual. Seems like they're on high alert, specially after Hyderabad's blasts.

So it's because of that. Anyway, she promised to send me a mail as soon as it got out of clearance and was surprised to know I hadn't received any mail from Dell till now.

Now, it all depends on when it leaves customs. My laptop could come tomorrow, or it could come in September.

Btw, have any of you got your machines till now?

 

Well, I just recieved my laptop today... and boy am i thrilled... it's really cool(pun intended ) and also,i got a score of 3250 in 3dmark06 at 1280x800 with an nvidia whql 101.48 driver. So, yeah... for all of you'll who are thinking of waiting it out ... i say good decision

back to topic, i had placed order on 2nd Aug, shipping (as per order status pg.) took place on 6th Aug. orginal EDD was 23rd Aug, then 25th, then "customs clarification" to 3rd and 10th Sept.

cost of laptop is Rs.65K approx.

I good thing i read in the XPS review was that the sleeve comes free with the laptop.. was a bit worried since i hadn't ordered the carrying case... will post some pics when i receive it

This is kinda frustrating !!! I just called Dell CS in Bangalore and came to know that my Order was on Finance hold for more than a Day as they don't have the Payment Details.
I gave to the CS girl and now it will go in the invoicing stage

I am in Pune and I though they will send it by air to Pune but looks likes it going to be by Road. So will have to wait for 4-5 more days.

I was hoping that I will spend the weekend with it but wait it getting longer now
