hi...
im new...
how to format dell inspiron n4010 to window xp...?
every time i try to format its will be blue screen..
it appear after window detecting all laptop peripheral.. -
hi people. i use microXP v0.84 on my older laptop. anyway thanks for this thread. i think i will re-slipstream microXP and include the following from sluk's driver collection.
Intel HM57 AHCI
Intel HM57 Chipset
Intel HM57 Management Engine Interface
Intel HM57 Turbo Boost Technology
then install microXP using the new bootable iso, because by then the above intel devices are integrated. is this correct procedure? thanks!
PS. is sluk still around? because if this succeeds, then we will have microXP specifically for Inspiron 14R. then perhaps i can share a bootable iso already to everyone. -
hi. my wireles may be not worked.
i have all drivers. but ...
please hlep me.
thanks. -
hi. i managed to download drivers from sluk via 4shared. i tried nlite too (1st time). any instructions on how to slipstream those drivers mentioned, because they are all exe and not inf. i extracted them to their own folders and there are infs, but there are many choices inside... and nlite is asking whether pnp (plug n play) or txt (manual selection)... if so, what should be the choices... any instructions for this would help so i can create a fully working iso. thanks.

Apology for being absent here because this board on and off sometimes did not inform me about new incoming messages on this topic... In case I absent or no respond again please free free to contact me directly via this link
I will try to catch up and update the driver set.... I have lost the original driver set recently I will need to dig out from my system and update the full set again. Will let everyone know when the update set is ready. -
jtdc, AHCI is the only driver really need slipstream into the boot disc, others can be installed manually after the OS install. You can pick the text mode driver and ensure that they are 32 or 64bits to match your system. Basically no harm to include more drivers and your system will automatically detect it upon installation, but it will be good if you can identify and only include the correct one. For those .exe you can right click "open with" them via WinRAR or 7Zip.

tayyab_ch,
Service tag no long help to identify exactly what hardware being used. To be able to help I will need 2 pieces of information:
1) Dig out the name of the hardware adapter use from your quotation.
2) I need to know the card's "Device Instance Id" please post a screen shoot of it, you can shown it from Device Manager -> Right Click on the adapter you want to identify then select "Properties" then click on the "Details" tab. -
You mean ATI4870x2 in your N4010? I don't think Dell have such an option.
-
Please follow #74 and post the information you get.
-
Hmmm... why so many people WiFi not works, Dell must change the hardware in recent module. Please follow #74 and post the information you get.
-
A simple fix is to disable AHCI mode from the BIOS or you have to create the XP OS install disc with nLite to slipstream the AHCI driver before you can boot up the system with the default BIOS config.
-
Yes, thanks for dig out my web contact and inform me, I will reply to your 2nd e-mail directly....
-
Please follow #74 and post the information you get.
-
Hi dear Sulk, thank you for all you help and information,
with this i cold solve all my problems and I installed Windows xp to my N4010.
Only two things are not working, 1 is PCI communication controller and Wireless network adapter
Could you please help me in this regard ... Thank in advance -
Hello friends.
I also have Dell inspiron 4010. I followed the procedure for installing XP. Performance(Speed) is good.
But I was not able to install the drivers for "Audio Device on High definition Audio Bus"
If anybody installed this driver succesfully, please extract the drivers using the software driver magician and upload here.
I tried all the softwares/drivers given here, but not working.
Battery icon is also not working. It is not detecting battery.
Is there any third party software to do this job?.
Thanks
~Prashanth -
First of all you need to identify what kind of WiFi card in your notbook. Please follow #74 and post the information you got.
-
Yes, no battery icon is a known issue, read post #8
Audio Device on High definition Audio Bus is related with the HDMI driver of your display card, did you have the display driver install properly? -
No other way to solve battery issue?. Is this the problem with all 4010 models
or limited to some particular 4010 models?. Why it is not detecting the battery?.
I was able to install display driver. It is Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD.
I am trying with different HDMI drivers. Till now not get it working. -
hey sluk. i'd like to know which one of this text mode driver in the AHCI needs to be intergrated in the slipstream. as u can see, there are many choices. or should just opt for the pnp? thank you for helping everyone in here
-
thank sluk..
now i facing a new problem...
all the driver already installed..
but seem device manager found a new hardware called sm bus controller..?
so what is the driver.. -
hello org malaysia...
what kind of software that r u using the driver intergration..?
it is winlite? -
if you mean 'nlite' yes -- that's what he is using. I'm actually suck at the exact same screen -- not sure which driver to choose for the n5010, or if i should just use PnP.
-
got it! it's text mode, and just select the whole list -- every driver. after doing that i was able to see the drives in windows setup (no bluescreen, as well).
-
i made a mistake and installed XP while the SATA Operation is set to ATA mode. now everything very slow, hdtune reports 1.4 MB/sec average on the Toshiba MK3265GSX, slow as molasses. it seems i will redo everything again.
-
thats kinda strange because its mentioned be careful if your controller even needs more than one. anyway, you mentioned it went well hmm...
-
i thought the same thing -- but yeah, it worked perfectly.
-
i had the same issue in ATA mode, things worked, just unbearably slow. getting ~83MB/sec on a samsung 640GB drive now in ahci.
i used this guide to get as far as i could & the only oddity i've seen so far is with the audio. If audio hasn't come through the speakers for awhile (10 seconds? 20?), the first sound that does come through sounds like it's underwater, after that everything sounds normal.
it's definitely something i can deal with -- just strange. -
thanks for the reference. actually i was able to install everything, except the integrated webcam, for some reason the driver provided by sluk does not see anything. i downloaded it again from dell monitors site and will try. anyway, that is a smaller issue compared to the painful slow hdd performance i have now, i really need to have this running in ahci. if still does not help, i will use win7 (just for isolation). if still cannot, then i will call dell and have them find the cause why this hdd is even slower than my 8 yr old laptop w/ MK2018GAP hdd.
-
i redid everything w/ slipstreamed ahci and i also selected everything on the textmode. was able to install and now everything is blazing fast as expected.
my only remaining problem now is the integrated webcam. there is a question mark in the device manager referring to it. but when i use the "SX2210-Monitor_Webcam SW RC1.1 WebCam Driver & Applications" it complains that the integrated webcam is not attached. i can't manually install it because i get the error no compatible device was found when i do the "have disk" then choose the inf.
was this because this is microXP and due to it being streamlined, something needed is not existing? are u guys having no issue with configuring up the integrated webcam? thanks. -
For others information, it should be the 2nd entry: 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller
-
Quite possible, I've encountered problems with some XP Lite version in which cannot install iTune because of smartcard drivers being removed so unable to detect the connect iDevices.
-
hii...
it possible that someone can upload the customize xp that ingrated with ahci driver...?
i already try nlite but fail to install...
even boot the cd..
all boot device has been set to cd writer..
-
