You may want to search "R65211 Dell Battery Meter" from Dell site and try...

giostnph, your display hardware id match with the driver .INF so you should able to install it, what exactly is the error message? What procedures you use for the manual installation?

Keyboard issue why don't you call help from Dell directly? There should not be related with XP if your keyboard not working...

It worked when I had Windows 7. Do you have a driver or a link for the keyboard? This is extremely odd as I never have had the problem.

Also, I stripstreamed a CD today with the files you told us to include. It still BLUE SCREENED on me during the install. So I went back to ATA and re-installed XP. Still no keyboard. I am baffled as I have rolled back a few laptops in the past few months. I always go with Dell because they include XP drivers with new laptops. This one, not so much. Please help me!

@showturfbrad... if keyboard is working properly in Win7 then it should work properly on WinXP as well. there is no special keyboard driver, it is a default input device. i would think your XP installer is not good, try another installer.

I tried a new XP install CD and now I have my keyboard working. I cannot get the display drivers to install and when I go to device manager, I don't even see DISPLAY ADAPTERS. The Wi-Fi also won't install. Can someone please help? I have attached a screen shot of my device manager and my service tag is 542NDN1 - I purchased this laptop at Best Buy about 3 weeks ago.

Please check your display card's "Device Instance Id" by post a screen shoot of it, you can shown it from Device Manager -> Right Click on the adapter you want to identify then select "Properties" then click on the "Details" tab.

    Dear sluk,

First, I am very sorry if I bumped this thread.
I have followed your instruction to install Win XP in DELL 14R N4010. I have slip streamed the AHCI drivers and successfully installed XP in my laptop, but I still can not install my VGA card, that is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v
    my device instance id is:
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9480&SUBSYS_04561028&REV_00\4&2AAA616A&0&0008

I have desperately searched for the drivers in many places, and still no success.

I am hoping that you can help me.
Thank you very much for your kind attention and help.

    Best Regards,
    dell-flare

You may need to download the latest ATI Catalyst pack for XP and extract the graphic driver then change the .inf to match with your device instance ID as display from the Device Manager and install manually.

    Dear All,

a good fortune has come to me and I have found a way to install the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 550v for DELL Inspiron 14R N4010. So you guys out there who are in the same position as me, you can download the driver here.
It's 200 MB something download, I know it's quite big, but you won't be disappointed. Believe me, it's worth it.
and FYI, my laptop comes with Intel WiFi, and I downloaded the drivers from Intel, and it's working.
Only small issues remain as sluk mentioned, that is:
    1. No battery indicator
    2. ACPI battery has to be disabled to take the full advantage of your processor speed

Again, thank you very much for your help, sluk..

    Best Regards,
    dell-flare

    Hi Sluk,

I have installed XP 64 bit on Dell N4010, but the performance is dead slow (booting process will take more than 2-3 min) and any operations also take lot of time... is there any way to speed up the process?

    My laptop config is:
    Core i3, 4GB RAM and 500 HDD.

If you give me your contact number it'll be very helpful for me to explain the issue clearly...

satish4u, try disable AHCI in BIOS, if your N4010 use build-in Intel HD Graphics, up to 1.7GB of main memory can be shared by the video adapter.
