just don't do that and you're fine-it keeps the software-and even if you do, just go to the 1520 driver page at Dell and grab the old one again.

So... Maybe mine isn't there? I can still roll back I'd imagine right?

I could always just download it from Dell too like you said...?

    I hope I didn't delete it. haha I don't recall doing so.

don't ya notice one thing already? that big lag whenever you access a screen where Vista requires consent. It doesn't hang as much. These newer drivers are better than the old ones on Dell's page, and if you are that concerned, there are WHQL certified ones on the ltv2g site.

yup-running the Bioshock demo fine (dx10 rocks)-and the major reason I bought this lappy, DiRT, which wouldn't run on my e1505 with an ATI 256Mb shared card, runs fine!!!! :spinny:

Nice. I was looking into getting BioShock myself. :)

There's a WHQL cert for this given driver version? (Should I be concerned? lol)

You are running the newest driver. If you look at that thread where you got the driver, it's title is Nvidia "Bioshock" driver. And nope it's not WHQL, and nope, I wouldn't get hung up on WHQL

Not sure if thread is dead or not, but here is my 3dmark06 history:

    Stock Drivers from Dell 3127
    Windows update driver 3295
    169.01 driver modded inf 3495

Speeded up Crysis demo a lot (plays smooth on Medium settings no AA)
FEAR on high settings plays 45-140 fps
EQ2 on high quality plays 15-50 fps depending on zone (usually about 30 which is definately playable)

    T7100 2GB RAM 8600m GT 256ram nothing overclocked.

The 169.01 driver is working perfectly on my 1520 and is running TF2 just as smoothly as before, whereas the 165.25 was horrible. I would really like to know if any better ones work smoothly with the 1520.

Hey all, fantastic community here! Been a lurker for some time now.

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1520, but not with games in mind. It has an Intel Integrated Media Accelerator 3100 in it, not NVIDIA. Would I be able to benefit from any of these drivers being posted? I am not very satisfied with the DELL drivers so far; the whole computer seems a bit bogged down (but maybe I am just subconciously comparing it to my 3.0 ghz Quad core desktop...)

Anyways, any help, or a shove in the right direction would be great! Thanks!

so the entirety of this thread is worthless to me? :)

Could I get any performance increase(s) by using 64bit Vista?

Have you seen the thread " Intel X3100 users rejoice! It's finally here! New pre-beta drivers!" from June, 2007? That's the only thread I know of that focuses on X3100 drivers, and it might have something in it that would help (I'd recommend using the "Search this thread" feature and reading the last few pages rather than all 1300-some posts, though). Otherwise, not really sure, my Intel GPU knowledge is below even my ATI one.

If the whole computer feels bogged down, not just games, it's probably not the GPU, though, even though the X3100 is quite unimpressive. More likely is that you don't have enough RAM (1 GB just does not cut it with Vista), or that your hard drive is slow (5400 RPM will seem slow compared to your desktop at 7200 RPM or possibly even faster). 64-bit operating systems would only really help if you were also using 64-bit programs; otherwise the difference is pretty minimal. And if the RAM or HDD is causing the bottleneck, they might actually make it worse, as 64-bit OS'es tend to use a bit more RAM (25% or so with Vista from what I hear, but it obviously varies with what you're actually running).

So to really advise on the problem, knowing more specs of your laptop, and desktop as well for that matter, could be quite useful.
