Do you also have the correct link to the modded inf file?
Thanks, Quido. -

See my Tweak #17 below for instructions on extracting the modified inf file and downloading your drivers properly. -

Interesting, they disabled hot linking. Okay, well I found the installed & INF here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15047

Yes they have disabled hot linking (prolly some member is in NBR and found my thread hot linking).
Nevertheless, I'll link to their page instead which gives them the credit they want. -
163.74 has been released...who wants to play guinea pig?
EDIT: I do, I do!
Just ran the vista performance test again. It didn't change any of the scores...
Going from default to 163.69 bumped up the "gaming graphics" from 4.5 to 4.7 though. -
hmm... should we say "let's stick with 163.69" then?
-
163.74 puts system in sleep when closing lid without wakeup issues.
-
I'll try 163.74 now. -
Nope, I still have my sleep woes with 163.69 as well as 163.74.
-
That's really strange? when i close the lid, the powerled starts blinking and when i open the lid, i allmost immediately see my Vista login page
-
Hey people, i installed already the new nvidia drivers 163.74 and i jumped in 3DMark06 in score from 1340 to 1577 points!!! that´s great...

Did anyone try the 156.66 yet?
-
Yes, works perfectly, EVERYTHING just works as it should
-
@ Traveller:
what do you mean with meaning ,,artefact free,, ?

My 3DMark06 Score:
163.69 - 1604
156.66 - 1254 -
Wow, 1604 is very high? this is OCéd?
-
No, all on default settings with T7300,2GB RAM,Vista32.
-
-
20% decrease on newer drivers seems quite unlikely... (but then again, you'll never know)
-
Plz substitute the link for a "compare" link. This link can be found underneath your "active"/"published" benchmark, thanks -
I've just tested 156.56 and it's very good.. M1330 is much cooler even when playing HL2. I think it gives a better balance unless you want to push your video card to max limits (which heats up M1330 significantly as i've had this experience after using it for a while).
I'll support both driver updates. I don't have the time to update at the moment but I will post it up tonight when I get home. -
Try 156.66 they come with orginal Dell inf and perform even better.
I've given up gaming on my XPS-M1330 as it will never match a desktop 8800 based rig.. -
Ok, so ive been trying to keep up with all these video card updates, but somewhere along the way got lost in the shuffle. I currently am using modded 163.74. What are the most recent drivers right now that are worth using?
And Raphie, is the 156.66 newer than the 63.74 that I am using despite being a lower number? -
15X series is aimed at Mobile GPUs while 16X is for desktop. Although we know that 16X series is made for desktop, some people wanted to get the most gaming power out of M1330 and therefore they are willing to try 16X. After trying 163.71 myself (a driver made to boost Bioshock experience), I find that M1330 becomes significantly hot and even with the fan running at maximum it still burns my hand a little so I'm starting to look for an alternative that can provide gaming power and not trade off so much of the heating up aspect. You will also notice that battery life of your laptop reduces when you use 16X drivers.
I haven't tested the battery life for 156.56 yet, but it has significantly cooled off. My M1330 is so much more quiet even under gaming conditions. I've tested with portal so far last night for around 15 - 30 mins and I have yet to discover any frame rates dropping. So, I think that M1330 portable users would want this new driver over the 163.74 driver. -
Thanks for the explanation. I wasnt aware of the differences. I will try the 15x drivers when i go home this afternoon.
-
Yes it is: 156.xx is the current mobile driver revision, 163.xx is the desktop revision. the 156.66 are from last monday and do inlcude a Dell specific inf file. These run perfectly and leverage all Vista power options. (opssed to the 163.xx series which runs just full throtlle all the time.

How can we compare (in terms of "newest") those with Dell's versioning (I think the latest available from Dell is 101.43)... ?
Last but not least, the drivers that were installed when my M1330 was shipped are 7.15.11. 143, a value that appears to match Dell's 10 1.43, at least, that's my assumption.
P.S. I recently installed the latest drivers for the Intel 4965AGN, ver 11.1.1.3 dated Aug. 14, so you may want to update your OP
[edit] Anyone try installing nTune on their M1330 (or any other Notebook sporting a modern nVidia GPU)? -
Anyone know how the 156.66 drivers compare in performance to that of 163.7x?
-
-
As for your question, I think that dell has their own way of branding their driver versions. I wouldn't compare it with laptopvideo2go because their version numbers are according to Nvidia's branding. It gets a bit complciated to explain but in short, 156.XX the XX is the number made specific to certain laptops. This seems to be my conclusion through observation but even though I'm using 156.56 (not made for dell) everything still seems to work fine so it's really up to you. It's hard to tell whether it is a new driver or not. The best way is keep checking laptopvideo2go's website for their latest annoucement of drivers or just check their forums and look for the latest driver out (the latest ones are usually at the top of the list). Hope this helps... -
within there you need to use the NV_dispD file (this is the Dell inf file for this driver)
Don't use the modded inf -

Anybody used nvidia vista 64 bit driver - 158.45 ? how is it ? any comments ?
-
Alright this thread is starting to get popular and so I thought since I'm dedicated to making this the M1330 drivers thread maybe i should include Vista 64 bit as there is a good number of people demanding for 64bit Vista....
In the future I will be adding in 64 bit drivers to the front page with indicators that will show which OS is belongs to. After 64 bit I will be adding linux OS as well. Hopefully this thread will be even more useful =) -

Awesome, Murdoc
btw, the touchpad driver link doesn't seem to be working, it leads to an empty page :/ -
Have you tried the 156.79 drivers yet?
-
Yes, I too am wondering how the 156.79 drivers are for the m1330. Any updates?

Hi guys, I recently got my new M1330 and am a little bit confused on how updating the video drivers work.
Shouldn't I be able to update Nvidia drivers through Dell's support center? Why do all of you go to laptopvideo2go.com to get them?
Secondly, if I were to do so, which driver revision # should I look for? Why do you guys download the 15X.XX ones when there are 16X.XX ones out? Shouldn't the 16X.XX ones be newer?
Any help would be appreciated! -
The best drivers for your system are at laptopvideo2go.com. Follow the section regarding this on the teak thread in my sig block.
The best way to go is the most recent or....the most downloaded. The number means nothing.
