Can you tweek the fan speed too? I could use a bit more rounds.
-
The latest pack contains the following:
- amiflash FOLDER
- n5110a9_525m-to-540m-083.rom
- n5110a9_525m-to-550m_086.rom
- n5110a9_stock-083.rom
- n5110a9_stock.rom
All of them are duplicated in another folder (N5110_ModPack_20111122) containd in the main folder (N5110_ModPack_20111122), so the size is doubled.
Can you make an all in one package that includes all stable releases, including 540M 0.85v?
Thank you very much for your work.
Also, in the first post, i noticed GT-525M to GT-540M 672/1400/900/0.85v. Isn't it suposed to be 1344 instead 1400? Or you made 1400 it on purpose, because it's stable? -
I want to flash my BIOS once and not again , so tell me if there is anything upcoming
Is 753/1506/900 @0.86v super stable , did you try gaming on it for sometime to test stability ?
Maybe you can make it 0.87v or 0.88v for extra stability ?
-
During bios flash the fan goes wild and stays like this untill you restart. Is there another way to make the fan to operate at full speed without flashing? I want to use it in extreme situations.
-
The link for All-in-one package v3 is the same to the link for All-in-one package v2, so this explains why I was confused. I think you accidentaly pasted a wronk link
This questions remain though:
-
I reuploaded v3.
All BIOS Mods in it are tested.
Considered stable are the 540M, 550M and 555M versions of my mod.
If someone gets crashes at the undervolted N5110A09 stock clocks 0.83v let me know. It might require 0.84v or 0.85v.
Overclocking further might however result in instability since all my BIOS mods are optimized to work well at those voltages.
I use the 540M 0.85v version myself. I gain 10% performance while it runs cooler at the same time! -
-
Can you make a 555M with little high voltage like 0.87v or 0.88v for extra stability ?
-
what about using vbios of 540m ?!
-
N5110.X
First give me proof your drivers crash. Then I will increase the voltage. I only increase voltage when someone's drivers crash.
0.86v is really stable trust me.
The vbios of the 540m is the same as the 525m. Only with different device id's and clocks. The rest is the same for every byte. So increasing the clocks of the 525m to the 540m in the bios gives you actually a 540m.
I am running the 540m mod every day at 0.85v
I am planning on working on the IGP as well. I will update the vbios to the latest binaries I found on Intel's website.
They include Ivy Bridge support. This will allow you to put a Ivy Bridge mobile processor in your N5110.
What do you guys think of this ?
Also feel free to donate if you like my work! Let me know if I should work on that Intel IGP vbios.
I can't guarantee it will work.
Who is willing to be a guinea pig for this? Or a Russian volunteer? Whatever you understand best -
After flashing a BIOS. Do not hit restart in the start menu. You should click shut down and then manually hit the powerbutton again to start your laptop. Then you will never have that 100% fan after flashing.
-
Cool , Thank you very much
-
Sould I wait for anything or flash my bios now ?
EDIT : I don't think working on Intel IGP is a good idea and it's not worth it at all , Just wait for the Official update from Dell ( A10 Bios ).
EDIT 2 : You can try enabling overclocking options for 2630QM , this will be awesome . -
The VBIOS of our A09 dates back to december 2010. Do you really think they will release an update?
By the time ivy mobile processors are released new graphics cards will be out there as well. So they won't use the n5110 motherboard anymore.
Overclocking Sandy Bridge is impossible. They are locked.
If you have an i7 I suggest going for the GT-540M mod. This mod runs cooler!
If you have an i3, i5 I suggest going for the 550M or 555M mod. They can afford the little extra heat.
Choose depending on your setup. -
Is there is newer VBIOS available on the internet ?
If there ,then okay this will be awesome
I have i7 , 3-Fan cooling pad which help decreasing the heat , I will use the 555M mod because I don't worry about heat , the low voltage also helps decreasing the heat alot !
Thank you again for your great effort -
there are vbios with latest intel driver
but i think dell mod bios so you need to mod new bios also ? -
I'm N5110.X
I found the latest driver and note that :
These drivers will not function with any other product. View the README file for installation information and the RELEASE NOTES for driver version details. This driver package contains version 15.22.52.64.2559 (8.15.10.2559) for Windows 7* 64-bit and Windows Vista* 64-bit. This package includes VBIOS files.
This download is valid for this products :

Intel® Core™ i5 Mobile Processor
Intel® Core™ i7 Desktop Processor
Intel® Core™ i7 Mobile Processor
Intel® Core™ i7 Mobile Processor Extreme Edition
Intel® Core™ i7 Processor Extreme Edition
Intel® HD Graphics
I think we can use it!
-
I don't think it will differ , the new driver contain software fix , I think the VBIOS is the same !
-
N5110X, you may have that cooling pad. But it's a notebook and it's meant for transportation. And you may want to play games on a remote location if you get the occasion. That's why I go with the 540M mod.
Yes there is a new VBIOS available. You can always get them in the drivers. I think the VBIOS files are installed together with the drivers and they are loaded into the RAM when the drivers are loaded. This way actually those VBIOSes may be used. I am not sure about this. I read it somewhere.
But my point is that if I can get the vBios incorporated into our BIOS, we will have native Ivy Bridge support and a nicely updated vBIOS.
vBIOS is not the same. It is updated for Ivy Bridge ofcourse. -
I'll still go with 555M , I want maximum performance
!
Our chipest is HM67 and it doesn't support Ivy Bridge so Ivy Bridge support is not shortened on vBIOS
No need for updating vBIOS , I think.
EDIT : I'm N5110.X , My other account . -
N5110 A09 + Ivy Bridge Support + Updated vBIOS Intel Graphics for Ivy Bridge
Here is a testing bios. Feel free to report problems. This one should make our Sandy Bridge laptops run better as well. -
Did you notice any improvements ?
-
As I said, the chipest ( HM67 ) won't support Ivy Bridge.. so the update of the vBIOS is useless.
-
did you tested it and is it allow setuping new driver ?!
-
You may be right. But now you have a upgraded vBIOS for Integrated Graphics. So it's a win anyway
-
@ djjonastybe
can you edit vesa mode of vbios of intel card to our laptop 1366 * 768 resolution
also is latest intel driver works on new mod upated vbios
also have you problem with line in jack ? -
hex part of vesa mode on vbios
20 03 58 02 hex
800*600
for our laptop
we need to set it to
56 05 00 03 hex
1366*768 -
And one more question, please: Which version of AFUWin should I use to update BIOS? The one in Aptio folder, or Amibios folder?
Thank you. -
Building vesa mode fix! The King I assume you would like to help me?
We could also try updating the Intel Microcode if this is possible. -
I never use the line in jack.
I had onboard audio issues (audio jacks) after I had a motherboard replacement. It was unsure what caused it. I bet it was the Dell technician who caused it during a motherboard replacement.
First try rolling back to original BIOS and see if you have issues.
Try reinstalling Windows see if that solves it. Or try a live CD from Ubuntu and see if you have the problem there.
Note that if your temperatures raise to high you can damage other components as well. The audio chip is very close to the GPU and CPU. So if these two get very very hot, this may result in damaging the audio chip. This is one of the reasons I do not use the 550M or 555M mod. But they do work. You only need extra cooling for those two. My 540M mods run 6C cooler than the stock BIOS
I can play ArmA 1 and ArmA 2 between 60C and 70C. Which is very good in laptop gaming. Those games also stress the CPU very hard. -
here is the vesa mode of ati&nvidia bios
Information on VESA modes in ATI&NVIDIA bios - InsanelyMac Forum
on stock dell bios there are only one postion for vesa mode
but the new vbios from intel have two postion for vesa mode we edit two
on our intel vbios the horzontal resolution is first the vertical on this form
20 03 58 02
i did this mod for my ati hd5770 on my pc and it works
this vesa mode edit will allow use to use laptop screen with screen even with out any driver -
to me line in works under mac os x with voodoohda driver
it is driver problem on windows to me
so i ask if i am the only person having this problem ?
will you edit vesa mode on vbios bios so test it ? -
DO NOT USE THE NEW BIOS MOD WHICH HAS THE IGP UPDATE.
IT WILL CAUSE YOUR IGP TO NO LONGER WORK. I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE A EXTERNAL MONITOR WITH A HDMI CABLE SO I COULD COUNT ON MY NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD!!!! -
I will remember that King! Thanks for the info. But my IGP mod doesn't work sadly enough!
But I CAN mod the existing IGP vesa resolution to the one you provided. Do you want that? That will help us out in various occasions.
The new IGP based bios mod doesnt work -
Told you it's not worth it
Good luck -
idont have hdmi
thanks god
didnt test new bios
as i was thinking it is modded bios from dell for optimus nearly
so if you dont mind can you apply vesa mode on stock intel vbios from dell
thanks for warming -
anther thing is there any progress on changing dev id of nvidia card to 0df4 of gt 540m
is the dev id & ven id is integrated on chipset or on bios ? -
Can you upload the tool of the link you gave me somewhere? Maybe I can use it to find it easier.
I tried the device id thingy but couldn't get it to work properly. I will try again when I have the time probably around Christmas. Or maybe sooner if I have the time. But if it is possible it will come. I guarantee that! -
I wonder if the VGA is connected to the Nvidia Card or the Intel one. According to what I find HDMI is the Nvidia one, Intel the VGA one. Strange.
-
i use hex edit to read vbios on hex and search about vesa mode resolution
as the stock resolution on all vbios on world is 800*600
so searching about 20 03 & 58 02
on our vbios if you searched there are only on site contain these 4 bits -
i am asking for gt 540m id as on geforce site it support 3d vision but our dont
-
I think no need for other mods , wait for NVIDIA 600 Series
!
Thank you for your hard work -
intel card is connected to lvds & vga
nvidia card connected hdmi
nvidia card is connected also connected to some thing named PCH
so when using nvidia card on rendering the output goes throw intel card to be seen on lvds & vga
so there are no turning black on laptop screen when switching between two gfx
for sandybridge & optimus it isnt clear for me as the data sheet about optimus is from 2009 -
tried to use 3d vision emulator Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: 3D-Vision-Emulator.zip
but 3d vision option on nvidia control doesnt appear on nvidia control panal
i think this because of gt 525m id -
ours support 3d vision
you need to install 3d vsion before you can use it.
Well for nvidia 600 series you need to buy a new laptop. Good luck with that. I am sticking with this one until my warranty expires by mid 2012. MAybe I have a new system by then from their warranty. Who knows !
-
-
really on nvidia websites some says yes and some other websites says no
to me when try to open any 3d appliction on nvidia driver says primary adaptor doesnt support 3d vision
nearly i must connect adisplay to hdmi and set it as primaryto works
any progress on vesa mode ? it doesnt need time to do it just 1 min
which program you use to extract vbios and implant it to laptop bios ?
and also which program allow you to extract bios from bios.exe from dell ?
thanks very much -
-
.
So no upcoming mods? ( I want to know to flash now or what ?)
Thank you
