It seems that they are clumping the Dell E with the Latitude E series. Sort of like a companion device.

I don't think Dell will update their site at midnight - it will steal the thunder from their press conference tomorrow which begins at 9am PST. Hey, maybe they'll take down the store at 9am PST and put up a post-it note saying it'll be back soon. And then, once it's done, the store will reopen and the new computers will magically show up!

Who cares about the E series? They should do the nVidia way: first release the monsters to attract the attention and then release the mid range.

i think if dell dont show their new xps line today, they will probably upgrade the current m1530/m1330 if they can?

That would be fine with me. The current M1530 is just fine, I just want a different card at this point.

If they throw on a different card and a backlit keyboard, it would be perfect. I wish the price could be at most $1,450, but... thats obviously not going to be the case.

I think that is what Dell is doing. Dell has always sold more to its business customers than consumer. If nVidia sold a disproportionate number of Quadro cards rather than GeForce, you bet they would be launching new Quadro cards first.

Yeah, just bump the chipset and throw in a better GPU, and we're done.

Or bump the chipset, GPU, and throw in an LED backlight on the XPS 1730. Pretty please? :(

Guess we find out in a bit over an hour...but IMO the people who buy Latitude's don't really care about technology. They may want some buzzword, but you could throw them a Pentium 4 based Celeron and they wouldn't actually know the difference.

I think the XPS 1530 would be a closer fit with those. The Studio 15's GPU is less than half as powerful as the other three.

Personally I won't consider that Asus because it uses CCFL lighting. Otherwise the three systems seem fairly comparable, other than that Asus having the new chipset.

well, im just a little scared that the GPU is gonna fail. (+ i dont wanna have to send it back to dell over and over again so they can replace the GPU w/ anothe faulty GPU) and i need the laptop to last over 3 years. im not replacing the laptop after a year or so

Personally I'm not really woried about that as I haven't heard any first hand accounts on Dell's forums (and some of those guys are Folding 24/7 on 1530s :D ) but I can understand why you'd be hesitant. Notebooks are really unreliable anyway (22% industry average failure rate per year if I'm remembering right) so I'm planning on getting a 3 or 4 year warranty regardless.

Eh, I'm not expecting anything this week. Probably not this month :(

That mini Inspiron didn't even get released? At least that would have been INTERESTING. The Latitude's are just a bizarre thing to emphasize I think. People buying those don't care about technology or anything, just buzz words. Meanwhile the people who actually want new technology are still sitting here (or considering alternatives...)

just wondering....but is it only to me that it seems that dell is releasing lappys with the quadro card, and holding back on the ones with the "possibly problematic" nVidia series?
