just ordered mine this afternoon and was told it will ship out by the 20th so 13days isnt bad. (though it feels like forever!)

I ordered today. Ship date is estimated July 20th.

13 days. No too bad. Only I had it shipped to Montana, to save $154 in taxes. So that will add another 3 days until I get it. But for $154, I'll wait 3 more days.

 

I also forgot to mention that ordering from the kiosks gives you an earlier ship date (so says the kiosk guy anyway)

 

My order status just changed to shipped sometime in the past couple of hours! The phone system is saying it shipped 7/8 and has been handed to the carrier, and it's no longer giving me an estimated delivery date. I'm hoping for Monday, but I'm thinking it'll definitely be here by Tuesday!

 

For me it says Estimated Delivery Date is:7/30/07. Does that mean, I should expect it around that date?

Lol. You may be right. Still July 20th for my oder, compared to August for others makes me wonder what the deciding facto really is.

Maybe its the color. Blue dries faster than black?

 

Its the resolution of the lcd panel you got, some of them are on back order, hence the Aug. ship

 

yeah i had to upgrade to the 1680x1080 or whatever from the 1400x---- i figure 50$ and i get my lappy alot sooner which i will need for school aug 1st.

 

Just got my shipping date July 11 - 13th. I have next business day shipping, ordered on June 30

 

i sent an angry email about the 1month lead time for my 1420 (i got the 1440x900 screen, hence the lead time) and they said that they are making "every effort" to ship them out in the next 15 days.

i find this somewhat plausible because they specified the number of days instead of saying "in the next few weeks". I hope that holds true! it'd be great to get my 1420 before august!

 

Same situation here. I called and complained. They said they're trying to do everything they can. I asked them to expedite the manufacturing process and put my laptop in the front because other companies are offering me similar laptops for a similar price within a week. The manager told me he cannot do such a thing and told me he would personally call me and keep me updated on the process. He also gave me free next day shipping and took $90 off my order.

Was anyone successful in getting their manufacturing process expedited? If yes, how did you convince them?

My estimated delivery date is 16 July. So a week to go! I hope it comes earlier than that.. Maybe Thursday... Friday? Hopefully... Oh yeh, I ordered on 2 July. Lolz.

 

I ordered mine on 2nd, Initial edd (expected delivered date) was 17th. Later it was changed to 6th, then 9th and I had just found out that it was changed again to 12th! Dell is making joke on edd or they are treating me like a joker.

 

Great news!! My laptop is shipping thru FedEx and it's on it's way.... but it's a day late tho, but it's still overnight shipping

Finally.......Mine shipped yesterday......although the estimated ship date was july 16th...

Well I made it into the TESTING stage today. And I only ordered on Friday. So far, so good!

kgeier - your date is so long because of the screen you selected. The higher resolution screens for the 1420 have a significant delay right now.

 

darn, oh well, thats what i wanted hope it gets here before, im going on vacation on the 7th. it would suck to have it sit at my house or worse, go bak to dell. I may even have to have someone go get it.

 

They won't leave it there, you need to be present to sign for it. If you aren't there to sign for it, it goes back to the Depot. If you don't reschedule a delivery, or go pick it up after about a week - it goes back to Dell.

 

My 1720 was ordered on 6/30 and the shipping date was 7/24. Checked a few minutes ago, and the status is shipped, 7//9. No tracking number yet. Expected delivery 7/12-7/16.

 

It seems the delay for the 1520s is because of the resolution, too.

It says that the 1440x900 will delay your shipping date, which I ordered....

i actually recently ordered a refurb 1505. im sure i can just call them if it shipped after i leave, and ask them to hold there till i get back.

lady told me they will hold it for up to 5 days. dells gonna have to ship mine by 7/31 for me to get it before i leave. if not, hopefully it ships on 8/9 like it says, cause i come back the 14th

 

If you're willing to take a chance, I've left a signed statement on the front door allowing the delivery driver to leave the package on the front porch. I live in a small town where the risk of someone stealing the package is small. (I'm not saying it can't happen) I'm not sure I'd take the chance in a larger city.

 

That's not really true...When I ordered my 8400 in 2004, DHL left the monitor on my front door step (I lived in an apartment complex at the time)

 

Even if I did want to do that, I know that wouldn't work here, but have you done that before?

Did it for an HP notebook, and a printer, both delivered by FedEx. They were on the porch for a few hours before I got home from work. UPS leaves packages on my front porch all the time, and I've never lost anything. (Knock on wood)

Ya, that's HP...Dell has this thing with UPS where they will not leave them on your doorstep...

 

oh ive had plenty of dells just left there, and heard plenty of stories to confirm that.

now, whether or not things have changed in the last year is one thing, but UPS has been known to leave big boxes that say "DELL" on them just sitting there, in the past.

why i have no idea. If i was a sketchy person, and saw DELL on a box at someones house, it go bye bye

 

...and that's why they don't do that. I've been buying Dell for 5+ years and they NEVER leave stuff here. You must really like in the boonies or something, and have a lazy courier.

I checked my status last Friday night (7/6), and it had changed to "testing". But I'm not sure when it first acquired that status, since I hadn't checked it in a while. I checked it again Saturday morning, and it had changed to "boxing". It finally changed to shipped this afternoon, (7/9). I still don't have a tracking number, and the automated order status says it's in transit to the carrier.

 

If it's still in the build stage, I doubt it will ship tomorrow.

Juts called they tell me " In Production - Build Stage " Based on this it will ship August 1.

Damn, 7 days after i order still in build.

Another question: For those who's machines have shipped and got their shipping upgraded free to Next Day over the phone, do any of you have confirmation that the upgrade was successful? The two failures earlier in the thread are pretty ominous...
